  • Great video and great lessons. Ive been playing cowboy chords for a long time but I followed your chart lessons and learned the 10 chords and have been making progress quickly in this new genre. Learned a version of Autumn Leaves and Fly Me To The Moon. Trying to learn Misty. Would be helpful if you would chart the chords for some of your songs for us beginners. Just like your lessons. I learn so much more from learning a song. Thanks for your great playing and great teaching.

  • @tjrunlimited thx ! learning tunes is the best way to learn guitar . check out lesson # 9 .

i walk you through "the nearness of you".also i typed in the chords to some of my tunes under show more.

  • Really awesome !

  • So , so beautiful, what a great guitarist you are Sir

  • @obscuramusic thankyou ! it means lot coming from a fine guitarist !

  • Lovely. This is one of my favorite pieces ever. Great tone too!

  • @kromekrush thx for listening !

  • Awesome playing Sir ^^ I love the tone and the feeling you put into your playing

  • @JoshuaVergara2777 thank you very much ! it means a lot coming from a fine guitarist .

  • gorgeous playing, love the sound. Is that a Peavey JF-1 you're playing? Which amp? and lastly what strings do you prefer? You have THE BEST recording of Misty on YouTube....bar none! Didn't look to see if you have a CD but if you do, I'm buying it!

  • @rxroger thank you . the amp is a roland cube 60 . i use any brand strings . i make up my own set . 12-16-20-24-34-44 . the guitar is an "arbor AJ136" el cheapo . sorry . no CD's.

  • Fantastic! A cat for sure!

  • THX for uploading. Impeccably beautiful. I could listen forever. Only I hope that I can reach a fraction of your skills one day. BTW, have you done "My Romance" yet?

  • @weyde1 thank you . no i havn't done my romance . i've thought about it . maybe some time .

  • @freddym223 :

THX. Looking forward to it. You probably receive so many requests that you could spend virtually all of your time trying to respond to them. I understand.

  • ALWAYS RETURN TO YOUR VIDEOS TO LISTEN TO YOUR SMOOTH PLAYING.THANKS MUCH FREDDY

  • @txcormorant thx for returning to listen to my music !

  • Beautiful, How about doing I left my heart in san francisco

  • @christyandsandy thank you ! i'll put it on my list,but i can't promise anything

  • PS... if you ever make it to Hawaii... we'd love to have you play at my friends little restaurant.

    Nui ka mahalo

  • thank you surfjigga ! your making me home sick . :-( i was raised in Kailua :-)

  • WOW!!!... I just kinda stumbled across your post..... and I'm stoked that I did!... Definite two thumbs up!!! if I had ten thumbs I would put them all up!

    Mahalo nui loa, Malama pono

  • Not much more to say than simply beautiful! Thanks for sharing your smooth, fluid style and wonderful talent with us!! All the best!

  • @artstone535 thankyou my friend ! you've said enough !

  • Freddy ... thanks for the great music. You play the way I dream of playing. I'm a 65-year-old drummer who has been a jazz guitar hack for the last 25 years. If I could play what I hear in my head, it would sound like you!

  • @Bluesman549 thankyou for listening !

  • I really like this arrangement - many people play this in a way too choppy way. But you play it very fluently and lovely, and the way it does justice to this great jazz standard.

  • REALLY, REALLY NICE !!! There's nothing "unorganized" about your playing freddie, or playing a song different each time, that's true improvisation, it's what JaZZ is all about and it requires the skills of someone who has mastered their instrument.........but then, I'm sure you know that !!

Thanks for the lessons, they have really helped open my understanding of jazz voicings and progressions. And your ballads are always GREAT !!!

  • thx again BoojWaZEE ! but i'm not very organized in anything i do .

  • VERY good Guitar's tone, in this "tenor" Mysty version!!!!!!! Simple and very good!!!!!

  • Lovely! You inspired me to post a response - also using open strings and playing in the key of C. I hope that you like it. Thanks again and greetings from Bristol, England!

  • THX SmallDays1 i checked out your video response . very nice !

  • bonito

  • @DuaEdu GRACIAS !

  • Nice! Really nice!

  • thank you very much jyuzynko !

  • You are pure Art now this is getting the most out of fa song.

  • thank you for all the nice comments pelonelcojedor i hope you keep going through all my lessons :-)

  • will do. an old timer friend of mine e mail's me info on the prescott playboys gig's. do you ever play the local lodges?

  • @kenny64 no

  • hi freddy, i just bought a epiphone elite broadway. what a jazz, swing guitar. it was set up with d'addario crome flat wound 10's. i'm gonna try the twelve's. thanks again for your help and music.. ken

  • @kenny64 i would keep the 10's for a while. if it's set up for 10's things will change when you put 12's on. more pressure on the neck and the nut notches may be too small pinching the strings.

  • hi freddy,it's ken from havasu, i'm back, 1 year cancer free and feeling great. one more question, what strings do you use? thanks again for all you do.your music helped me through some tough times.

  • hi kenny64 ! glad to hear your cancer free ! i use any strings that are available. i;m not fussy about strings. i believe these are arnie ball 12"s

  • This is the best version I have ever heard on guitar. I try to learn to play it in a similar way. You say that this is not really an arrangement - you just play. I wonder if some of your other listeners have managed to figure out how you put your fingers the in the beginning of the second vers when you go in to Gm7 from Cmaj7. You sort of step downwards on the neck with a lot of chords. Can somebody give me a clue?

  • thx jg59tj after the CMa7 think 2-5-1 to FMa7 =Gm7-C7-FMa7.check out my video of "over the rainbow" i do almost the same thing there.maybe you can catch it better there. it's hard to explain on paper

  • kick ass arrangement and execution.

  • thx jcomshaw ! i love those pedal steel licks your teaching on your channel !

  • Lovely arrangement.

  • thank you phantombagpiper ! i was surprised when i heard you play misty on bagpipes and how well it sounded.then i saw both of you play it on guitar and harp and i was in heaven !

  • What a great sound your guitar and amp has. Your arrangement was fantastic !!! you played it flawlessly.

  • thx johnny102marvin ! means a lot coming from such a fine musician / teacher. i checked out your channel.

  • awesome job

  • thx for listening STEVENSSONG !

  • I love it! Thanks for upload sir...

  • thx for listening weqsxixi !

  • Ahh.... Good memories of before my girlfriend broke up with me. You know, something about human nature: There are 7 billion people on earth, lets say half are women. I have 3.5 billion other options. I want the one back. Hah. Well, thanks for the wonderful rendition and for making me remember some happier times. Now, can you play "I Wanna Be Around" by Tony Bennett? THAT would make my day brighter lol

  • thank you habagrachel ! i hope you find a way to get your girl friend back.i'll put your request on my list, but for now i need to get away from music and just enjoy playing chess in the park for the summer. :-)

  • Great Version of the song. I am thinking of teaching some of students this, I have most of the chords and I am just wondering if you have the chods written down?

  • thx malandsuzdevenny ! no i didn't write out the chords.i just play it by ear and play it a little different every time

  • I know this so g but can't put my finger in it. Help

  • @mearlwatson i don't understand what you mean by (I know this so g but can't put my finger in it. Help)please explain so i can help you

  • I really like that you didnt load the song with too many fills or licks. Simple and authentic!

  • thank you very much IronPump89 ! thats a very sage comment from one so young. when i was in my 20's i would over play this tune.throwing everything but the kitchen sink into this tune. after losing a couple gigs showing off,

i growed up and made a good living in the nite clubs for many years leaving out the garbage (i'm 72)

  • Hey I was just wondering what kind of amp you are playing with. I was thinking of getting a better one and decided what better time than when I'm first learning jazz.

  • @MorningEvil i'm using a "roland cube 60" on this one.

  • there is an amazing Tal Farlowe clip on the tube of this beautiful melody but i prefer your arrangement. Warmer and with more space to hear the chord voicings . you are a great find on the net freddy thanks for the lessons and greetings from Scotland

  • thx again milowagon ! i've seen the tal clip. most of the people in the audience were probably guitar players wanting to see some fireworks and they got what they payed for.but after playing quiet rooms for so many years,in nite clubs,i found that people drinking and dancing seemed to prefer that i kept it simple.thus my simple approach to guitar playing.

  • Having followed your quick lessons in jazz I had already tried an arrangement of this in C but was having trouble with the mid section chords - I came across this by chance. Nice arrangement and just the job for me to figure out the middle bits and add a few different changes. To me these jazz arrangements seem to be a case of getting my head around a different set of chord progressions and substitutions from the ones I've tried in blues. Your help has been invaluable. Great stuff!

  • thx DaveBluesManFaulkner ! once you get used to these jazz chords you starting getting all kinds of ideas

  • That was beautiful! Ur awesome.

  • thank you very much fr97305 !

  • Hi freddy, do you play the shadow of your smile?

  • hi amber123446 ! yes i play the shadow of your smile.it's a favorite of mine.i posted it on my channel a few months ago.i'll send it to you

  • great playing :)

  • thx nepotiums ! :-)

  • Wow your guitar sounds amazing

    what is it?

  • @Dyyn123 it's an "arbor" guitar. i guy once told chet atkins that his guitar sounded great ! chet atkins then layed his guitar on a chair and asked the guy "how does it sound now?"

  • Hi Freddy jajajaja......... good answer!!!

I has to practice 5 hours a day

  • Freddy can you do a CD?

  • thx amber123446 ! but at my age i can't seem to get through a tune without making mistakes ! lol !

  • @freddym223 well I don't care about mistakes everybody does but you talking about age freddy, you playing from the heart and your soul is moving your fingers, there's no age for this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • THAT WAS VERY PLEASANTLY SWEET...DO YOU PLAY ANY OF THE OLD HAWAIIAN MELODIES? MAHALO FREDDY

  • thx txcormorant ! no i havn't played any hawaiian tunes since i left the islands in 1953

  • Wow. What a beautiful, soulful, and original rendition of a tune I've heard a thousand times. Do you have any CDs?

  • thx Dooce32 ! sorry no CD's .i doubt these 72 year old fingers could get through a tune without screwing up.

i just sit around plunkin on this old guitar and thinkin of the enjoyment it's givin me through the years. lol !

  • @freddym223 Hi freddy It is your brain and thinking and soul what they move your old fingers!

  • hola MrJPavez ! your very wise ! now that i'm in my seventys,i no longer play with my fingers ! lol !

i have been watching your videos.is that you on the guitar?that is very nice music !

  • @freddym223 Hi Freddy i'm in the sixty and I hope to reach your beautifull sound at seventys!

Effectively , I´m playing my Hofner jazz guitar from 60ties

We are electrical eng. that try play jazz on free time.

I will continues learning from your instructional video and solo.

  • nice tone oh my goodness!

  • thx nimatron2000 !

  • Wow.

  • thx apoculamus !

  • Freddie, would you please be so kind as to give me the chords to Misty in the key of "C" the way you played it on utube. It is just beautiful, but I cannot figure it out in that key to save me and I really want to learn it that key.

    Please consider.

    Hippydog

  • thx Forbisglass ! but on chord solos i dont think in terms of chords.i just play the melody by ear and stack notes below that sound okay to me.

  • @freddym223 very very great sound and style, whoooooo

    magnifique :-)

  • thankyou vieuxdruide !

  • OK Fred. I just listened to you version of "Misty" and quite frankly, .......well.....I am.

Is there anywhere on your site where you have listed the chords for this song.

I am fully aware that I may have an uncontrollable urge to have a backyard bonfire after I try to learn it, but your version Is perfect and when I grow up I want to be just like you.....fingers and all. Can you help an ole codger out?

    Hippiedog

  • @hippydog3 on chord solos i don't write out the chords since i dont think that way.you can get chords to most tunes off the internet free

  • Fred, I would really like the chord for this song like you have put them on other songs.

    Thanks

    Hippiedog

  • Beautiful job.

  • thx MrJimdeb ! means a lot comming from such a fine guitarist.

you and your wife sound great ! i've watched most of your videos

  • wow, thx for that beautiful performance. I do really adore the style youre playin'.

  • thx for listening Pavloskosteki !

  • I have read some of the reviews however, it is hard to believe it is so economical. I hope I can play as beautifully as you because then I will chalk it up to the guitar player and not the guitar! Have you always used Arbors? I see you have the sunburst and the dark green, any real difference ?

  • Is the arbor the best kept secret? How come it is not as popular as Gibson or IBanez

  • @nyc828 probably cause there so cheap.check the reviews on the internet

  • Freddy what are the guitars you using? I see you are using several

  • @nyc828 they are both "arbor" guitars

  • Absolutely beautiful! :)

  • thankyou very much CanyonTide !

  • make me more curious what should i do to be like you Sir. sometimes i just want to quit coz so many guitarist all over the world, then i bought keyboard, bass guita, coz i think i should find my space in music instead of competiting with all of you lol. great job Sir.

  • thankyou xciteband ! but don't try to compete.play for the love of music.that's what i do.there will always be musicians better than myself.that doesn't mean i should give up. :-)

  • Fred another great Guitar performance on this classic Love song-Misty.The Feeling your chords & notes, right on.I think you should come out of retirement and start playing again live, 5 *****Plus..Bravo !..Marc Jones..Los Angeles,U.S.A.(Vocalist-pop/jazz)

  • thx glennmach (super vocalist) but due to nerve damage in my right hand and arm, i don't have the chops i once had,so i'll have to stay retired and mess around on Y.T.

  • thankyou very much guitargod97 !

  • You're correct. It has a rich full sound in the key of C. Nice.

  • You need to write a book with your arrangements - absolutely beautiful arrangements. I have been playing since 1963 and am trying to get where you are.

    Great guitar work.

  • thx andyholics23 ! i may do that some day.

  • i have heard "Misty" played on the guitar by several artists. By far, this is the best version. A lot of feeling on the way the song was rendered. Great touch and nice arrangement! I would grade freddy's performance with an A+. Just blew me away! I was wondering what guitar freddym223 used. I would like to know because to me it sounded better than the Les Paul or Stratocaster. I have been playing the classical guitar, piano, ukulele, and clarinet for at least 40 years as an amateur musician.

  • thx for the kind words ytricclemente ! the guitar is an "arbor"

  • EXCELLENT

Natural, warm, sentimental, sensual. Timeless music, xlnt technique; beautiful soul, beautiful man

Ok then, let's see what I can come up with on the old Yamaha (piano that is) while I'm feeling inspired.
