this album helped me deal the blows of my young adolescents... i can so relate to the beautifully constructed & metaphoric essence of isaac brocks lyrics & sound waves. I LOVE MODEST MOUSE!!!!! at their concert in la a couple years ago, i help up a sign i made that read [modest mouse saved my life] i threw it on stage after the show dunno if they got it but who cares either way i'm honored to have set foot in the same room as these poetic geniuses
So I think this describes different emotions throughout the song. 1st 0:00 - 1:04 is depression from either drugs or loss of love or something like that. then 1:05 - 1:55 is like a breakdown or anger for the loss of love or a realization that you have a problem. then 1:56 - 2:20 and then you feel a sense of hope. then 2:21 - 2:39 is a sense of happiness and that everything is going to be okay. and then.... the process repeats.

@HeroinTree hey i kicked heroin a week an a half ago. so far, its been the hardest fight of my life. being prescribed ritalin at age seven then later progressing to every other drug in the book i was chemically wired to believe drugs were the answer. my brains sense of reward had been completely fucked & i thought "oh well it is how it is, might as well enjoy killing myself" but i was wrong & quitting is possible... even for a lifetime junkie as myself... its like learning to live all over again

Depression is merely feelings of sadness or loss that are so prevalent they begin to interfere with everyday aspects of life such as work, school, relationships etc.

Super depressed my life is crumbling around me I've been thinking about suicide then I listen to this song and it helps a little. I just wish I could edit my life and only focus on the good. But I know that cannot happen so I press replay and think about dying a little less.

I too only find relief from Modest mouse. So many people out there just being total jerks or acting like people they are not and that gets me sad, but Modest Mouse has always helped me through tough times. @cristofolon You have no idea what it's like to be depressed. It can feel simply hopeless and apathetic where you don't care about anything that happens anymore. It can also feel like eveyone around you would be better off without you. The internet doesn't mean shit it's all about the people around you and your self esteem.

It's not like you can really do much about it. The world is a circle and some people are square pegs. Those square pegs cant do a thing about the world they live in. If you fight the world, then maybe you could beat it. Also. I am religious myself and believe we will come back one day so to me this isnt really all we have

@TheLintlicker95 You can't go through life without arguing. The world would be a much worse place if people didn't argue. We need to argue to stop people from taking too much from others. Arguing is what keeps the balance of society. The same thing goes for ignoring the negative parts of life, it doesn't work that way.
But with that said yea arguing with a rude/ignorant youtube commenter is pretty useless and I agree with you about being positive but you should also be realistic.

Just some cool Modest mouse songs I recommend you guys hear - Head South, Nothing New, Dramamine, Doin the Cockroach, Polar Opposites, Life like Weeds, Lives, Alone Down There... and Cowboy Dan. All their songs are amazing but those are some that I think pretty fucking awesome.
