Its big its power full but it lost along with the empire because of one reason. ITS SLOW. Ever relize that the intire empire ersonal ( besides the speeder bikes) Or slow evan the troopers. Well i geuss we would to if we were wearing 10 pounds of pear plastic. And ever notice the empire loves things that walk never do they have some thing with wheels.

Well i'm not from National Instruments. This robot was build starting 8 hours before a show in Amsterdam (Holland)

It was a trail and error build. There is nothing left from the original structure of the belly of ATAT. I completly had to redesign it to fit in a NXT motor and NXT.

thats not nxt the nxt brick dosnt even have wires in the side that says 1234 and you need to plug in the ultrasonic sensor in one of those slots you just bought the motorized atat on the lego store

the reason it aint walking right is because at-ats only step one leg at a time.

This one, as amazingly awesome (i am so jealous OMG) as it is is moving too many legs at once and so is sort of shuffling

but still, that is very very very cool

@jamesgarner201 Its called capacitive sensors. They detect any object through tiny changes in magnetic field. You can buy one for 20$ off the inet.

They are a trouble to install, so i recomend inductive sensors - they are less trouble to fix, but they detect metal only.

Optical sensors are cheap, but they require to be pointed in the direction from where you expect movement.

Well, the only "fault" I see with this one, is that it walks differently from in the movies. In the movies they do a diagonal walk, this one does a parallel walk.

Apart from that, a nice conversion of the box model :)

I think he's doing a parallel walk on purpose here, to show it balancing itself. A parallel walk is actually quite difficult to do with a walker like that.

En why is there a NXT inside when the lid is opened @ 1:12 .. Try to fit in a nxt and the standard motor or even better as i did. The NXT motor. =) Without making the body larger.

Have fun. That is why I enjoy building this sort of robots. To fit in a NXT where it would not fit. =)

Well i doubt that. Because of the NXT inside the ATAT is very top heavy. It needs a flat sturdy surface to work on. Otherwise it will tip over.

The whole idea behind placing a NXT inside was to show it CAN BE DONE. =)

I did make it from the set with the addition of a LEGO NXT set.

It's very tight workspace because the NXT and NXT motor are very big to put into that small belly.

The leg construction is build for that weight on the top. But it holds.
