  • Wow! Very nice work. Thanks for sharing this technique.

  • DAMN

  • Poor doggy, just wants to play catch :P

  • @Mochakaboom

That dog is spoilled rotten. She is treated like a princess. LOL

  • This is the most practical video I've seen on camo for firearms. Gonna get some krylon camo paint & camo up my house gun, Mossberg 500!! Thanks for the helpful video!!

  • @wolfyrex7

I appreciate your comments on my gun camo video.

I developed this method for first time painters, and quite frankly I haven't found a better way to do it.

It's easy and the results are awesome.

  • @pittsky You came out with a bad ass design

Im planning to paint the polyer parts on my mossberg 590 12 gauge i got krylon fusion in the color i want so i clean it with alcohol and than just spray on?

  • @FullmetaljacketJ

Thanks brother, I appreciate your comment.

I'm going to build a light weight 10.5" AR-15. I'll paint it too. I may post the video because so many people seem to like this video.

  • Nice to see a fellow Calgarian on here, your rifle turned out pretty nice I have to say I was a little doubtful seeing all the stuff you piled on there. I think you inspired me enough to try it on my Norc M4. Maybe I'll practice on my bros M14 first though..

  • @theCANaDiAN1987

Hey another fellow Calgarian. I invented this method for first time gun painters. I'd love to see the results of your paintjob if you try it. Send it to:

    jeffrey_pitt@hotmail.com

I've had at least 50 people try my method and email me their results. 100% of them were thrilled.

    Go for it!

  • Cool. Nice job. i am thinking about painting my gun as well. U gave me an idea. thanks.

  • dude awesome vid! I'm going to try this i have a Marlin 60 22lr i wanted to paint I'm for sure gonna do this with my gun!

  • Awesome job man I like flat black no camo usually but that is awesome can you use this style for a paintball gun?

  • @Just4kicks256

You bet you can do this to your paintball gun.

  • Your dog is AWESOME!

  • @11BSig

Thanks for the comment on my bulldog in my M-14 painting video. We love her and she always helps out around the house.

  • :) you sound like apretty down to earth guy.

  • This was super helpful, I'm going to paint my Kel Tec SU-16C this weekend... If it doesn't work out.... I'm coming for you!!! haha but good video, loved it.

  • @iRusultz

How did your paint job turn out on your Kel Tec?

  • I am no fan of spray painting a firearm, but wow, that came out NICE! Good job!

  • @pittsky Thank you for this vid! That technique makes such a great effect. My dad recently gave me his very first rifle, Remington 30-06, with a pretty beat up wood stock. Planning to throw some wood filler in the major gouges, give it a good sanding for the nicks, scuff it, and try this camo technique. Here's hoping it turns out as well as your M14! (Vancouver, BC.)

  • Its called blu tac our smurf sh*t :D

  • hey.. is it necessary to use a clear coat after painting your gun? cuz im scared to paint mine becuz i think that its gonna feel different and paint might chip..

  • @GTOteamORdie

I don't, many guys do. If you clear coat make sure you use a flat coat.

If the paint chips on my gun, I'll either paint it again or leave it. I think guns look cool when the paint gets worn.

  • Is there any way to keep the twigs and leaves from moving because once i start spraying, the things move around because of the spray and messes everything up

  • @cstarz32

Use heavier twigs and/or hold the sray can further away from the painting surface.

  • @cstarz32 For the leaves, just use a donut of masking tape to hold it down while you're spraying.

  • thats pretty cool, got to admit though it looked real sloppy at first but great job.

  • @Tperez671

Thanks. I invented this way to paint guns so it was easy and gave good results.

  • Your dog is awesome

  • @GhillieGhostAirsoft

Thanks dude. I love guns and shooting but I also love my dog. I'll give her a good ear scratch in your name.

  • Excellent video!!! Works like a charm, I've never been much of a artist...I painted my .17 caliber in one hour following this video and now all of the guys want to do the same. It turned out Amazing!!! I replaced the Maple Leaf with Wile E Coyote. Outstanding!!! And Thank you for sharing this.

  • @jsanders1974

Dude thanks for emailing the photos. They looked amazing.

  • I did my brothers gun the exact same way. He's in Nova Scotia so we used black, green and olive, and I used ferns for the pattern. Tossed it into low brush and immeadiatly lost sight of it.

  • @mushroommark

Sweet. Would you mind emailing me some photo's of it? I'd love to see it. :)

    jeffrey_pitt@hotmail.com

  • excellent video sir! am going to have to try this. thanks.

  • @hoodrat61

Let me know how it turns out!

  • what kind of paint ?is it anything special?

  • @TheBrianEffect101

Ultra flat camoflage Krylon. Check out the 30 second mark in the video.

  • does the paintjob last and did you use a clear coat??

  • @907mountainman I didn't clear coat, a lot of guys do. Make sure you use flat clear coat if you do. You don't want it shiney.

  • Awesome Video Brother! The M14 looks amazing!

  • the shaking of the spray can i thought it was applause lol

  • is it sticky? spray paint can be sticky.

  • @andreduntadavis No, once it dries its not sticky.

  • Should I use a primer on my polymer stock ?

  • Where did you get the M1A in canada?

  • @MrXtream123

    It's a Norinco M-14

You can buy them everywhere for under $400.

  • Does it make it stink like spray paint?

  • @Bezerker09

Does it make it stink like spray paint?

    Bezerker09 1 week ago

    No.

  • @Bezerker09

Nope, no stink once it dries

  • why didnt you take the gun apart? then paint the stock

  • @Green132547698

I wanted the pattern on the handguard to match the rest of the stock.

  • nice!

  • just did this half an hour after getting home with my new 93r17. GREAT video. paint looks great. im pumped right now. glad i didnt waste my money sending this to someone else to have it done. 20$ at gander mt for the paint. 5 mins in the backyard looking for brush. good to go. thank you!

  • Thank you so much for making this video, seeing you do it to a m-14 gave me the confidence to do my ar-15 (which looks pretty good) THANK YOU

  • thats reely awsome i did the same thing to my 50 cal

  • couple questions

    1. is the stock synthetic

    2. can u do it on a wood stock

    thanks

  • @blankskater339

Yep it is synthetic. It's a USMC stock actually.

I've never done wood, but there's only one way to find out. Paint it. If you don't like it, sand it off.

  • That looks absolutely awesome, mate. Wouldn't mind doing this in dark colours on a 22 or something for rabbit shooting at night in Australia

  • I will admit I thought u were an idiot for camoing ur gun like that at first but I liked the end result man it looked great. The only thing is is I like more detailed camo where u can see the small sticks and leaves ect but for a begginger this is a great idea no doubt thanks for sharing man.

  • Wow! Great Video! Gonna do my shotgun this way!

  • i just want my shot gun painted black what kind of paint should i use and sand paper details plz thanks

  • Do you have to spray a finishing sealer coat? Or will the spray paint rub off on your hands?

  • @35pianoplayer

No sealer coat. Paint always rubs off.

Paint it again if you don't like it.

I actually like the look of a gun when the paint rubs off. It gives the gun character,

  • Great video! I don't have a real gun, but I do have an airsoft rifle that is just black now. Thanks for the video!

  • looks amazing gonna do this to my prairie dog .22

  • canadians unite!

  • Thanks for the great tutorial send you the end result on an old rusty anschutz .22 match rifle

    bas

    Holland

  • Great video. Going to be painting up my Remington 700 SPS Tac tomorrow using this same idea just different colours because of where I'll be hunting. Only another Canadian could do a good video like this lol

  • You know what...I thought what the hell is he doing...but im so glad i watched till the end. Amazing method..im going to give it a try.. thanks

  • Nice camo job! But I wouldn't let my rifle lean on the muzzle. Sometimes they can be touchy and get a bit loose

  • Thanks for the video. I painted my Rifle tonight using this technique and it looks great. This is the best how to camo video on youtube.

  • Great video. it was extremely useful ...

  • I uploaded a vid of my camo - thanks for helping me make it happen. I ended up doing something slightly different but experimented using your ideas. Hope the tag worked. Take care.

  • I didnt think Canada allowed you to have guns.

  • @567hook

Who told you Canadians couldn't own guns?

In Canada we can have guns. I own AR-15's, the M-14 in this video, Glocks and many others.

  • @pittsky i thought you needed special permits

  • @pittsky Cool dude. Im doin my 22 off this video tonight. if you guys over there dont let them take your guns and we dont let them take our guns then we might be able to help eachother out one day when they try. Glad you guys got your rights neighbor. Peace out.

  • nifty i really enjoyed this video

  • @pittsky Yea - i got impatient - went to a few hardware store and nobody had the paints I was looking for. i ended up buying 7 cans of paint I dont really want or like. Guess thats how it goes. Ill film my results tonight.

  • @pittsky I tried painting a stock following this video - only problem is I used the wrong paints. Kinda sucks - im waiting for it to cure but I will video my results tonight and tag it as a video response to this, thanks again.

  • @lafayette512

You have to use flat camo paint.

The great thing about painting your gun is that if you don't like the results, just do it again.

  • That is so cool! Oneday I have to do that. It is just awesome! I like the gun too. Is that the same model M14 that we Australians used in Vietnam? Just outa curiosity.

  • Best how to camo vid on youtube

  • @lafayette512

Thanks for your comment on my M14 paint video.

  • At the end it looks like you just used grey colours !!!!!!!!!!!

  • Canadian!!

  • What is that spray that you put on ur gun b4 you paint it?

  • @fabianhoustontx

I just taped off the parts I didn't want painted. No extra spraying.

  • Out of all the camouflaging vids I've seen, I like yours the best. Thanks for posting this!

  • @Slow2ndrow

    Thanks,

I wanted to show the process I use from start to finish. It works very well.

I wanted to inspire people to paint their guns and show them how easy it is using my method.

  • awsome vid!

  • Canadians are epic.

Hails to our brothers from the Overseas :) "Aboot" :)

  • @teezakar3a

I don't know what you are talking "aboot"?

    :)

  • thanks for the compliment. yours was really sweet too!!!

  • pretty kick ass for homemade camo

  • Before you put the maple leaf on and started with the first color, did you paint the rifle that darker color, or was that the original color of it?

  • @gilroy1g

    That was the origional color.

  • awesome technic dude

  • @boogiboy3d

    Thanks brother.

  • nice job on camo on the gun, i watched your vid decided to do mine, i made a vid of it on here check it out id like your input, thanks

  • @bowtwanger

Thanks for watching my video. I'm glad it inspired you to do yours the same way. I was really hoping I could convince others to try it.

Yours turned out awesome by the way.

  • damn good vid.. looks soo awsome thanks alot man!! greetings from sweden

  • I was wanting to paint a gun, and low and behold this video, was perfect.

  • very-very-very nice

  • i have some clear coat do u sugest to spray it on after or in the beginning?

  • @dahui1463

Good question. I've sprayed a lot of guns and never used clear coat.

It would be a good idea to use I suppose, just make sure it doesn't give your nice flat camo pattern a glossy finish.

  • nice job

  • FIRST... one to dislike this video, I like it but I always wanna be first

  • when did you put the clear coat on?

  • @dahui1463

    No clear coat.

  • what colors were those again?

  • k thank you so much and cool video keep up the good work!

  • were di you get the paint from?

  • @dahui1463

It's Krylon flat camouflage. I bought it at Canadian Tire. You can buy it anywhere.

    w w w.krylon.com/products/camouflage_paint_with_fusion_technology/

  • @pittsky Try Wal-Mart as well. I used the exact same paint to paint my SKS and I got it at Wal-Mart.

  • Great video man! This will very much come in handy

  • P.S.S. -- I have a camo kit with 4 colors- light, olive, brownish, and black.. should I use all 4 colors in that order??

  • @boyettsix

Yes thats the order I would do them in.

I am not a big fan of black on camo. Many modern patterns (i.e. multi-cam) have steered clear of black alltogether. If you use it, use it sparingly.

  • This has inspired me to do my Remington black SPR 453 12 Guage shotgun tonight! I'll get my 4 boys to help! QUESTION..... -- What prep work did you do to the stock? Alcohol rub down, sanding, etc... p.s see some of my backyard nature videos at /boyettsix THANKS GUY!!

  • @boyettsix

I just cleaned the heck out of the areas that would be painted. I didn't do it, but an alcohol rub would probably be a good idea.

  • Ahhhhhhhhh Canada, our little brother in the north gave me some very useful information. THANKS.

  • @theallmightychad

    Glad you liked it.

I lived in the U.S. and found it to be almost exactly like Canada.

Canada and the U.S. are the closest and best of friends. We share the longest non-militarized border in the world.

Canada produces some of the world's best snipers too. Google "Rob Furlong Afghanistan" Its hardly a coincidence. Like millions before me, I grew up shooting ground hogs and gophers with dad's .222 remington with a leupold 10x from distances out to 400 yards.

  • I am so happy i found this video i used this method on my sks and it just looks amazing not quite as good as yours does but still you have found the best/cheapest way to making your gun look top notch lol thank you vary much for making this video

  • a Canadian can paint CAMO???? on A RIFLE??? haha wow you are really shattering the stereotypes! Awesome job! i think im gonna try the same thing on a kayak! ill post a vid if i do! thanks a lot!

  • @dizzyarmstrong also.. quick question... can you give me an approximate number of square inches of the gun and how much of the can of paint it took? this will help me decide how much paint i buy for my kayak. THANKS!!

  • I have painted two rifles camouflage but I always remove the barreled action and all metal instead of masking with tape. To each his own. Nice finished product.

  • thumbs up for Canadian Tire

  • The BEST way to paint your gun!!!!! THANKS

  • It was cruel to take out all those sticks and not give the dog one.

  • That looks bootiful Pitsky, well done. Im a total novice myself, sanding & re-shaping a beech air rifle stock & gonna convert to an adjustable cheek piece. Being in Ireland, where were supposed to have 40 shades of green, would you say start off with the lighter of say 3 shades, always ending up with the darkest?

  • @treeratbuster

I always go light to dark. It seems to work for me.

Converting a stock to adjustable seems like quite the task. I'd like to see it when you are done.

  • @treeratbuster Starting light to dark is usually the rule of thumb because if you screw up, it's much easier to hide a lighter colour with a darker one rather than vice versa.

  • Love the Camo work, Great job on all the guns. did you use regular spray paint, that is to say spray tins like you would get at any hardware store or is it a special paint. I've been wanting to do my rifles. Oh and how durable is it (does it chip easy) Again Love It !!!!

  • @MrPatF1

    No chipping yet.

At 0:20 I show you exactly what paint I used.

  • Haha... and im Hungarian. Should i paint a crown on my gun ? lol im kidding

  • @MurderByFluoride

I didn't sand or prime. I just made sure it was clean and painted it.

  • NICE PAINT JOB!!!!! 2 THUMBS UP!!!

  • No primer?

  • Great Job! You seem to have a very nice family! Dog too of course :)

  • @chicomath

    Thanks!

I couldn't have done it without my dog's help.

  • 7:35 pretty good camo paint job

  • Thanks for this. How bout a clear coat? Would it be wrong to lay about 2-3 coats of the tan right off the bat?

  • @filoIII

I didn't clear coat, but it wouldn't be a bad idea.

  • Canada sucks!!! But good painting

    USA!

  • man this acually helps me alot and sweet idea bout the maple leaf man im also in alberta and im gonna try the same thing but on my crossbow

  • You should really invest into a compressor and some airbrush guns and then go buy some duracoat. Its a resin finish so it lasts way longer and can take 500 deg. of heat and 80lb hit without chippin.

  • How durable is the camo. Did it start to chip or anything

  • is that a wood stock?

  • @32tbob

    It's a USGI Synthetic Stock.

  • Great great video!!!! I watched it a couple of times and it really helped me out painting my rifle for the first time in a camo pattern. It really makes the first time easy. THANKS.

  • Looks awesome man! Congrats! Greetings from South Florida!

  • Looks awesome man! Congrats!

  • great job dude keep it coming greetings from 10 E C (tennessee) =)

  • how do you make the camo continue around to the other side, while being connected over top?

  • I would paint my remington 700 sps varmint rifle but, one it hurts your value and 2nd Im real hard on em I scrape the paint off in no time.

  • @NaTeDaWgSlY

I got the M14 at Frontier Firearms.

  • great video! rifle turned out amazing. did you do any sanding first?

  • @lucich02

    Thanks.

No sanding. I just made sure it was clean.

  • Why did you leave the gun in the stock?

  • @hunter15234

I left the stock on the gun because I wanted the camo lines on the stock to match the handguard.

  • anyone else here pissed that we keep the long gun registry.

  • @viper10011

The Conservatives won a majority. The long gun registry will die this year.

  • @pittsky I know I voted conservative and they won yippie.

  • 10:49 your wife sounds really really really into this project.

  • @ChromeArty

My wife got a kick out of your comment.

  • @pittsky nice! gotta love a woman with a sense of humor! thanks for not taking that comment the wrong way, nice to come across a level headed youtuber.

  • not trying to be a dick here....but. Your very lucky your paint turned out that nice. You gotta shake that can for about a minute before painting, the biggest thing is starting your spray off the rifle and ending your spray off the rifle, making sure to only do very light coats many times. When you laid on that first coat that heavy going back and forth over the rifle, is was like " OH NO!!! " but she turned out pretty nice man. good vid. Don't hate me :-)
