Freud was a genius who did his absolute best to understand the human mind, and he inevitably made mistakes because geniuses take risks common men do not. He paved the way to a clearer picture of behavior, but once people saw that picture they began to bicker and pick at his work for what it lacked, as if they knew all along. What happened with him, as with Einstein, was that his essential theories were modified to fit modern thinking, just as the Model T had to be invented before the Porsche.
Electra and oedipus complex is 100% bullsh*t. And he is smart because you cannot disprove his theory since it's not measurable. However because of this his bull theory cannot be proven.
it made him calm(try marijuana first)and made him feel like a man, yes that is what happens when you have a drug addiction, just because of the history of freud, doesnt make his statement about cocaine any more extraordinary or important, drugs affect everyone a little differently, so I guess this is how cocaine made him feel, which is perfectly fine,
Cut the crap. He was MKULTRA.. So sure he figured the mind out, all the while was funding his nephew in the committee of public relations which involved, lobotomy through 30 day sedation, shock therapy, surgically removing the frontal lobe, & many mind twisting drugs. Not to mention that he pinned everything to sexual urges which is extremely faultered. So in many ways he only served the governments crowd control theories & infiltration of the psyche. Totally brainwashing America to this day
"This central Freudian notion of the unconscious mind is the one that everyone has to deal with. Whether they accept it or reject it, they cannot ignore it" ---- that's very true. Of course a lot of Freud's ideas have both been rejected empirically and by the general public as is obvious by the comments here, but that doesn't change the fact that historically, he is immensely important
Freud was an idiot, he extrapolated his Jewish neurosis and applied it to everyone. Psychoanalysis has no basis in the scientific method, no empirical verification and the most parasitic of trades. Not only does this go against great traditions of our western civilization, that of egalitarian democracy with it's authoritarian position of the psychoanalysis to dictate to the patient on no verifiable grounds, it is also against the Hippocratic oath. For it feeds a patients suffering for more money
@AresRoar some of his theories have INTELLIGENTLY been either rejected or simply ignored, lets show OUR intelligence-as well- doing exactly the same, insulting to something or someone when disagreeing brings always a very bad taste, waste of time n' energy.
When you are about 7 years old, when you are conscious.. You try act like a 7 year old in this society, a society SO complex, you have to adapt to it to live on..
However. When you sleep, unconscious, you see dreams, you see the world in your prehuman state, before you saw the world like a human. You see the world, without society, you see the world like a monkey, like an animal. No rules, no way of looking at things, not how human made things, act cool, brave, scared, just nothing.
@brbedel I believe the "Talking Therapy" is the way out. Look at everything and try to understand it - don't fear it - and some people need a guide to help them.
Some of the most brilliant and innovative Jewish minds like Sigmund and Albert Einstein, I believed were motivated by the hatred and the persecution that was forced upon them by the Nazis in world war II, and they offered us today some of the most stunning insights.
Thanks to the individual or team responsible for posting this video, S. Freud is widely studied in Teaching education, Counseling and Psychology, Medicine and Physiology...
He did "look" inside... and he did "interpret" what he saw... but he never really ventured there himself. That's why he was so identified with Moses... who never entered the promised land.
Haha Mark 5043 have you even read any Freud? Of course a few of his idea are discounted today as not credible but it was evident that he was revolutionary in the realm of psychology/psycho analysis..obviously not bullshit as we are still expanding on his theories today.
Freud was a wack job,and a cocaine addict.Do enough cocaine, and you can come up with ridiculous theories about how the mind works. He was just projecting his own thought process, and trying to make it a science.....pure bullshit.
@Mark5043 do some research. He did cocaine to try to prove his theories of the unconscious, cocaine didn't invent his theories. The unconscious isn't a "thought process" at all.

where rejected empirically?
the problem isn't that alot of his ideas cannot be observed on a objective base...
