One of my favorites or shall say, least favorite commercials, because as soon as you saw them on tv, you knew summer was almost over and school was about to start..
A classic commercial played both on Saturday morning and prime time in 1970's. Definitely a vintage commercial. Wonder if Bic still makes and sells those 'Banana Crayons.?'
Yeah, he's happy and Gay, alright! I would be too if I was a success in hollywood. However, the fact that he's wearing a banana suit and acting effeminate makes me wonder if he isn't queer...you know, plays for the other team?
@TheRealBluesisblood Gee, I think you're right. He might be gay, as in "homosexual." I heard Liberace was too... shocking, I know... and Lance Bass, and Ricky Martin, and, get this... Elton John. You sure have a knack for spotting them though... I hope you'll let us know if you spot any others. It's almost like you have "gay radar" ... or "gay-dar." Truly amazing.
he was wonderful - two Tonys for musicals - and a wonderful director as well....he did a lot of small theatre projects in LA and they were always terrific
I was a kid when Nelson-Reilly was popular and didn't know about "alternative lifestyles." I thought it was schtick. Looking back, he had a lot of courage to portray an image that would piss some people off. I understand that the and Paul Lynde didn't give-a-shit what people thought. Good for them!!!
I told everyone that the video of Bea Arthur talking to Madame (of Waylon Flowers and Madame) about Rock Hudson was the gayest video on You Tube. I stand corrected.
@Lamonjello The term irregardless is like a knife in the heart every time I hear it. I also hate when people say "what are your future plans..." That is soooo redundant.
I remember this commercial from my childhood in the 1970s. It played quite often, and I liked the commercial even though I never got my hands on the product. An added bonus was the fact that Charles Nelson Reilly was in this commercial because he was one of my favorite comedy character actors. At the time it seemed as if he was all over the place on tv. Commercials, tv shows, etc., but most memorably in syndicated reruns of the classic tv show The Ghost and Mrs Muir
"Bright and gay"? LMAO! I remember "Chuck" doing ads for Wizard air fresheners in the mid to late 70's. Let's see some of those.
I'd also like to see a skit he did with Johnny Carson, Chuck playing a ticket agent at an airport, asking Johnny "Smoking or non-smoking?" and "Gay or non-gay?"
@wolf359x Is this the one you were trying to find? -> It is called Carson show-Charles Nelson Reilly and Sirraymondbell uploaded it. Lmao! I found it so hilarious I swallowed the juice from my gum down the wrong pipe.
O.O I just lost my childhood.
