Every guy has its own style, this is a great song played for one of the great contemporary guitar man. There is no comparison between Guilmore and Slash because they belong to differents times.
Naw. There are two reasons to do a cover version: 1. To show love for or do a homage to, an existing version (That's why the Beatles are the most covered band in history), OR 2. Because you think you can do it better (that's why Bob Dylan is the second most covered rock era musician(-everyone thinks they can better his vocals, at least, but few can!)
Daves early stuff sounds different then the newer stuff.No more tape delay or mini moogs for him its all pretty much straight out of the amp(into a sound board of course)
I personally love his early stuff.Dark side was revolutionary but I like Obscured by Clouds,and More.Those are the real gems.Check a tune out called "Childhoods End"simply awesome.

Dave and Slash are in an elite group of performers that we dream about ourselves being in.To compare them is only human.Their are people that like Dave better(myself included)and those who like Slash better(understandable,he is a fantastic guitarist)

Gilmour is a more well-rounded artist though, song writer, vocalist, playing/singing at the same time, and his guitar skills are without a doubt, world-class and very, VERY good, and much more innovative, but Slash (in my opinion) is up there with SRV, Hendrix, Clapton, Page etc. I'm much more of a pink floyd fan too. If not for Slash, guns n roses would've been just another 80's band IMO

Some say it was invented by Jimmy Page,who used to wear an SS uniform in some of the Yardbird's concerts as well as playing recordings of Hitler's speaches before some songs and in no way is Jimmy Page a Nazi, it's just for the shock effect as I said.

I love Slash, he's one of the greatest guitar players alive, and I love Pink Floyd even more, my favourite band in history, this cover is very good, doesn't compare to the original, but still, awesome.

I Love alot kinds of music new and old, but i love old stuff alot more now and days. and i love hearing covers from bands, and i love this cover, i think Scott did a great cover with slash!! i still love Korn's Cover Of ANOTHER BRICK IN THE WALL!!! STILL THIS IS A GREAT COVER!

pink floyd is great and all, but i really dig that bluesy solo deal that slash does in the beginning. Idon't think that VR is trying to do "better" --people do covers for fun and to show respect not to one-up the originals.

@ztwadd Its the kind of thing shock rock bands do (Not implying VR is one). It has no idealogical purpose its just to shock the audience. Some say it was invented by Jimmy Page,who used to wear an SS uniform in some of the Yardbird's concerts as well as playing recordings of Hitler's speaches before some songs and in no way is Jimmy Page a Nazi, it's just for the shock effect as I said.

@lees2oo8 Na Man , I agree on some levels, I freakin hate Axle, Never a big G-n-R fan , FLOYD FIRST! LOL, but Slash is truely amazing, I watched him front row at red reocks tear up a 20 min version of Knockin on Heavens door with Snake Pit, AMAZING, and for the most part his chops are unstoppable. I have heard way to many crappy Floyd covers to put him in that catagorie, and if you know you shit, that rant before is full of EPIC blues runs, and the 12 string double neck.....WTF! Yaah! Rock on!

You tards it is going to be different for everyone. Looks to me they are feeling it and looks to me they got a full house.
When you play you play what moves you and if your lucky enough maybe it will move some else. That is how a fan is made and if you are really lucky you keep wowing them for a long time. Just think about how long these guys have been in the spot light....... I would have to say they are doing something right!!!

I love Pink Floyd and most of the time I love when bands cover them but this is just the worst! I mean it sounds nothing like it and there just making me wish I had the time I just wasted watching this back. I mean this song was a tribute to Syd Barret wtf do they know about it!

@Refura86 yeah wtf would they know its not as if they are all brilliant musicians with decades of experience at the top. The idea of covering a song is to put your own perspective on it not simply replicate the damn thing. These guys have lived music their whole lives so i am sure they are aware of its significance!

@Refura86 - I am a massive PF fan but I have to disagree with you. This is NOT the worst cover (in fact I kinda like it, but that's not my point) of a PF song.
If you think this is bad then you cant have heard the Scissor Sister's version of Comfortably Numb. Without a doubt, THE worst cover (of anything) I have ever heard. Total sacrilege.
