@lmaobringitnoob If being left without support and an angry armed mob is approaching their location with the intent of killing any american personnel is considered comic relief then yes.

@LordWellington15 Wow you're an idiot. Hey moron if you're going to mention God, that's one thing, if you're going to say he hates the world then prove it. If you can't prove it then for 1 shut the fuck up. 2 don't call somone an idiot if you sound like a bigger one yourself.
I like how they call them "skinnies" because the Somalians are literally starving, and yet the US soldiers who are the "good guys" make a derogatorily term for the "bad guys". Wasn't this war to feed the starving Somalians? Or was it to arrest and remove certain political leaders in the region. Well.... let's see, I don't see a single US soldier feeding the people, I only see them killing and arresting people. Amazing how Hollywood can taint the truth with a movie and change the perspective.
@Sun6Tzu you fucking idiot read up on the fucking history of events you retard before wining. there were 2 missions. the first was a humanitarian one to ensure the food supplies would reach the somalis. it was a success, the UN (US) retreated afterwards. then immediately after they retreated AIDID again started his terror on the somalis and on the few remaining troops. so the US started a mission to retrieve AIDID. one operation during that mission was IRENE, which this movie is based on. moron.
@h0ktar Major General Thomas M. Montgomery, Deputy Commander of the United Nations Forces in Somalia in a television interview said, "Many of the soldiers are alive today because of the willingness and skill of the Pakistani soldiers who worked jointly in a rescue operation with Malaysian and American soldiers in most difficult and dangerous combat circumstances."
In the movie, they depict the Pakistani soldiers as being unfriendly allies who don't care about American soldiers. HOLLYWOOD LIES.
@AiEGiLe the US is tied down by insane dictator like leaders. we were saved by the paki's here clearly. however we only need saving, because if we whipped the fuckers clean from the map. People like you would be bitching all over CNN. That' why is Israel is some gangsters. They simply dgaf.
@h0ktar PS: So if the Americans were the "heroes" of this conflict, then why would all of Somalia turn on them when they are the ones helping them? The US didn't follow UN protocol like usual and decided to play judge, jury and executioner again, which resulted in the unnecessary deaths of many people due to ego and arrogance. Never has the US ever helped a nation out of it's suffering. It's only deployed soldiers, killed the local population then installed a puppet regime. FAKE HEROES
@Sun6Tzu holy shit what's your problem? when did I ever say that the movie is accurate? and when did I ever say that the americans are those big heroes?!
i merely pointed out that this fucking mission wasn't even supposed to save any food supplies as you insisted, that was the previous mission.
and yes, that previous mission was a success, you can rant as much as you want about that.
1) why do you ask me? you're acting as if i had said the americans are those heroes, wtf, i didn't say anything like that.
2) what the hell is wrong with you. all those idiots who rant about americans, do you fucking retards ever think what happens if they don't act? whatever they do, it's wrong... if they do something everyone whines, if they don't they are the big assholes who don't care about 2nd and 3rd world. do ppl. like you ever think beyond the fucking ranting?
@h0ktar Why do people have to die so Americans can pretend they are heroes? So the public can watch movies that glorify the soldier and respect them. Thus, continuing the military machine, continuing the support for any invasion the US government decides. Using citizen's lives as tools to continue their life of greed and bullying.
@Sun6Tzu It's not that simple, the people of Somalia were suffering from poverty and war, they saw Aidid as a leader because of his propaganda - he had been building a sentiment of anger towards Americans, describing them as modern colonials so that when the battle broke out, ordinar people were picking up weapons to kill Americans because they thought they were liberating their country.
@etoriaking And what about our own propaganda here in the US? The government claims they operate military missions in order to help people of other nations against oppressive bad people. What I notice is that they install only leaders of a region who allow all their resources and fiances to flow back to the private companies and the upper class of the US. You have oil being pumped across the globe in a country that has almost no consumer vehicles, it ends up being used in cars on US soil.
@Sun6Tzu You sound like a pansy liberal coward. US interventions might not always work out but we actually try to help others. We're saviors not conquerors.
@KSICarbonCore LOOOOOl ! "saviors" you're deaf man : who do you think you americans are ? a 2nd Jesus perhaps ? What the fuck have you saved Iraquis, or others from ?
Ok you're no conquerors, you're just idealistic morons leaving a trail full of death and hate.
And well you're not alone in this way, just see NATO paving the way to a taliban state in Libya today ...
Répondre à cette vidéo... Just want to make clear it doesn't prevent to have the greatest respect and admiration for these men and their heroic deeds that day. But it makes no sense -- just bravery.
@KSICarbonCore Tell that to the 100000 Iraqis who died, the civilians in Falluja where the kids are getting cancer cos of the depleted uranium or the men and women in abu grahib.
@etoriaking Clinton should have not send US troops in the first place without a clear exit plan. Just like when Reagan pulled out the Marines in early 1984 after the October 1983 Beirut bombing that killed 241 Marines, Clinton did the same thing when he pulled out US troops in March of 1994 after the "Black Hawk Down" incident in Somalia. Clinton never bother to deploy troops into Bosnia until he started to send it's troops in 1995 as part of a peacekeeping force to enforce the Dayton Accords.
@h0ktar IRENE was the attack code. The mission was Operation Gothic Serpent. And this mission was to capture Aidid's generals. I think you got the mission name from the game DFBHD.
Also, my mum has a friend who is a refugee from Somalia. The last we heard from him, he was still trying to save enough money to get his family out of the country. Please don't forget that 20 years on, the civil war is still raging there. Dozens are killed everyday, on top of those starving in the famine.
Whatever faith you are from, please keep the people of Somalia in your thoughts/prayers and hope for an end to the war.

@etoriaking The kid was shooting at the soldier to kill him, shot his father/uncle/friend by accident. The soldier should have hit the kid off the head,or knocked him out. Then left. What was to stop the kid from suddenly becoming angry, picking up a gun and shooting the soldier when he got 20 steps away ? Nothing.A dumb move, but that's Hollywood.
@etoriaking ..Who is feeding the war, waiting to grab the country?A wise man, starts or sees a conflict, feeds both side arms, and waits till they kill each other off. Then 'saves' the country raises his flag and builds roads and schools.
@nash09274508326 the sad thing is, they didnt even die for their country in Somalia. Thats why Clinton pulled the troops out; although America was there with good intentions, too many young American men were coming back in boxes from a war that ultimately didn't affect them. Tragic realities of modern warfare.
and I'm saying this because there apparently are ppl that think the marines were the ones in there, when the rangers are the army. Know your history ppl. Army went in not Marines.
i love hoot's talk about how people dont understand the sacrifice these people make. "its about the men next to you." im joining the army soon. ill keep that quote in mind
The evactuation of the American trapped forces was an action carried out entirely by a Pakistani armoured Squadron and 7th Frontier Force Mech Infantry Regiment. Its really sad that the movie has given minimum credit to the actual people who picked these soldiers, put them in their vehicles and took them out of the hell hole.
@joeratti The movie is about the whole operation - its just called black hawk down because americans seem to loose a black hawk down every now and then and that was the first time it happened. I believe it was quite a feat by any standards for the soldiers involved, but to show everything else in such detail yet reduce the pull-out to a few vehicles shown around empty streets doesn't do justice. The operation should have been covered in entirety.
@lithiumsliver and because it was the moment when the whole operation went pear-shaped, everything that happened after that was due to trying to help the guys on th first black hawk
@TheJohnGway 18 where killed in the actual raid with over 70 wounded,Producers or whoever fucked up the total, the 19th guy killed was the delta guy Matt Rierson two days later from a somali mortar attack on the base.
@TheJohnGway You have to understand that the Rangers and especially Delta are some of the top fighters in the army. The Somalian militia were basically citizens armed with AK's and no training at all, as well as little equipment.
@TheGLOCK40cal We didn't nuke them because the whole reason for our presence there was to help the civilians from the warlords in Somalia. It would have been counter-productive.
This Movie Sends such an incredible message, I had tears at the end. I might now join the army because of this movie. (Im 15 so I would have to wait 3 more years)
FOR PEOPLE WHO HATES PEOPLE WHO ARE IN THE SERVICE I HOPE YALL WATCH THIS AND LEARN PEOPLE WHO ARE SERVING ARE NOT MURDERERS SERVE TO PROTECT HUMAN RIGHT. HAD A LADY TALK BAD TO A FRIEND OF MINE BECAUSE HE IS IN THE SERVICE FUCKING SLUT HE DEFENDS US AND ILL BE DOING THE SAME SOON
@rico20052008 you cant afford to hate like that. those peoples ancestors were probably soldiers who served honourably and their descendants probably will too. they are selfish and will never change. you just do what you gotta do mate and leave those sentiments in the dust. cause you must know there are far more people who are eternally grateful. so be at peace.
@rico20052008 The intention is always good - but the conduct of war has been very bad in US hands. too much collateral damage. This defence you're talking about is resulting in too much collateral damage that is tainting america's repo in the world. Same happened in Somalia. Because of indiscriminate rocket attacks on a building where politicians were meeting, the whole population turned against the UN and US had to eventually retreat leaving a mess.
@rico20052008 What gives another person the right to choose whether they live or die? You think murdering a person in another land is helping the world into a better place? How much of a better place are you making in your own lands? Look around you, drugs, crime, and hate are everywhere in the states. We can't even unite people and encourage peace. It's not about changing the world, it's about letting others live, and for you to create your own life and live along them.
I really loved those three (two originaly) guys who ran around the city cause the humvees left 'em. lol, Kinda the comic relief i guess?

Love this fim, only 2 issues:
1) The only time you really see any Pakistani soldiers is when they appear with trays of water for the Americans. Their heroic contribution to the battle is totally ignored.
2) The most poignant scenes in this film for me were when the old man is seen carrying the child's body across the road, and when the child soldier accidentally kills his father. These are the only times we are reminded of the human cost of the war.
Apart from this, a great film, best war movie.

nash09274508326 5 months ago
@nash09274508326 the sad thing is, they didnt even die for their country in Somalia. Thats why Clinton pulled the troops out; although America was there with good intentions, too many young American men were coming back in boxes from a war that ultimately didn't affect them. Tragic realities of modern warfare.

Fantastic film, alot of war films just don't have the atmosphere of this.

and I'm saying this because there apparently are ppl that think the marines were the ones in there, when the rangers are the army. Know your history ppl. Army went in not Marines.

Her0ofCha0s94 5 months ago
The evactuation of the American trapped forces was an action carried out entirely by a Pakistani armoured Squadron and 7th Frontier Force Mech Infantry Regiment. Its really sad that the movie has given minimum credit to the actual people who picked these soldiers, put them in their vehicles and took them out of the hell hole.
lithiumsliver 5 months ago
@lithiumsliver the movie is called blackhawk down not mech vehicle retreat
joeratti 5 months ago
@joeratti The movie is about the whole operation - its just called black hawk down because americans seem to loose a black hawk down every now and then and that was the first time it happened. I believe it was quite a feat by any standards for the soldiers involved, but to show everything else in such detail yet reduce the pull-out to a few vehicles shown around empty streets doesn't do justice. The operation should have been covered in entirety.
lithiumsliver 5 months ago
@lithiumsliver and because it was the moment when the whole operation went pear-shaped, everything that happened after that was due to trying to help the guys on th first black hawk

cant believe that only 19 US died thats crazy
TheJohnGway 5 months ago
@TheJohnGway 18 where killed in the actual raid with over 70 wounded,Producers or whoever fucked up the total, the 19th guy killed was the delta guy Matt Rierson two days later from a somali mortar attack on the base.
ridder6689 5 months ago
@TheJohnGway You have to understand that the Rangers and especially Delta are some of the top fighters in the army. The Somalian militia were basically citizens armed with AK's and no training at all, as well as little equipment.

TheGLOCK40cal 6 months ago
@TheGLOCK40cal We didn't nuke them because the whole reason for our presence there was to help the civilians from the warlords in Somalia. It would have been counter-productive.
OhShitDidHeDie 5 months ago
@richkingyang Ummm, cause the UN's and US' intention was to eliminate the warlord Mohamed Farrah Aidid and SAVE Somalia. Not blow it to kingdom come.
Maybe if you actually did some research on it (or watched the whole movie), you may not need to ask stupid questions.

FOR PEOPLE WHO HATES PEOPLE WHO ARE IN THE SERVICE I HOPE YALL WATCH THIS AND LEARN PEOPLE WHO ARE SERVING ARE NOT MURDERERS SERVE TO PROTECT HUMAN RIGHT. HAD A LADY TALK BAD TO A FRIEND OF MINE BECAUSE HE IS IN THE SERVICE FUCKING SLUT HE DEFENDS US AND ILL BE DOING THE SAME SOON
rico20052008 6 months ago 29
@rico20052008 you cant afford to hate like that. those peoples ancestors were probably soldiers who served honourably and their descendants probably will too. they are selfish and will never change. you just do what you gotta do mate and leave those sentiments in the dust. cause you must know there are far more people who are eternally grateful. so be at peace.
mrbishi1000 6 months ago

3 ways for the US Military has to know and they do know what is the risk. 3 ways coming home.
1. come home walking
2. coming home on a wheelchair
3. coming home in a box
Pray for the troops and give them hope to return home alive.
