"That would make it unpredictable" is any competitive gamer's worst nightmare. Those people have heart attacks if any random element they have to react to on the fly is introduced. Being able to work the system and plan everything carefully is fine, but the thing I hate about competitive gaming is that it's so formulaic, or people whine. I'd like to see how a lot of professional players handle unpredictability and the element of surprise, but maybe that would make it too... competitive.

I've played SnD competitively before on gamebattles and I wanted to say that you can play with equipment or you can have the rules set were there is no equipment. And yes in competitve all you see is the same perk setup and gun setup, main reason why is because those are the setups that work the most effectively. That perk setup is lightweight, sleight of hand, and ninja. And the gun setup being the famas with the red dot or the specter with the red dot.

Honestly, I disagreed for a bit but then I thought about it and realized that's why cod 4 was so great, it was competitive and super creative because of lack of restrictions. It provided a large variety of experiences instead of the consistencies you see in competitive gaming in general nowadays.

I use different perks for all of my classes... I use them according to the map, and how the enemy team is playing. Having that said my fav perks are Hardline PRO/SoH PRO/Hacker PRO.

The worst and most annoying perk is Second Chance... Either you don't get kills from a distance, you waste extra ammo or they surprise you while you're in a kill streak.

Worst I've ever seen ppl using ghost/warlord (suppressor & noob tube )/second chance and sitting in a corner. Embarrassing.....

It's Only MLG Variant rules that don't allow you to use equipment and flak jacket, its optional for default ladder settings. If Killstreaks were allowed everybody would use Spy Plane, Counter Spy Plane and Blackbird, and again it is optional in default..You were waiting to say that OnlyUseMeBlade line =) lol

For the gun variety... In competitive, people don't really care about the variety of guns because the point of Gamebattles and MLG is to be strategic within the games, which is the main reason it is pulling in viewers. In public games, all people want to see is a 3141531531 kill/death ratio, and if you use a Famas to get it, people think it takes no skill because anyone can use it, so they want to see interesting gun/perk selection

I like it the way it is, fuck claymores, second chance and bullshit like that. Also glad Flak jacket is gone, stupid choice to have it in the game in the first place. Why didnt they just remove noobtubes and launchers(not including lock-ons) instead and have so you cant use claymore and frags at the same time. That way the only explosive you can die from is frags in pub and claymores but you can have hacker for that..
