  • Magic the gathering > D&D

  • They should make D&D Fallout edition

  • @PoopFart57 gamma world

  • I live in Eureka, CA. I can now not drive by this building without thinking of YouTube.

  • I live in Eureka California. Now its creepy for me to drive down the road that his building is by.

  • ROLL THE DICE TO SEE IF IM GETTING DRUNK!

    ARE THERE ANY GIRLS THERE?

  • @TheHammar117 is there any mountain dew? i want a mountain dew!

  • heh. I rolled as he was talking about rolling. And got a 6, 5 and 5.

  • one of two way? hardly... Stats can be rolled several different ways. The best way in my opinion is roll 3 d6. Take out the lowest, add up the other two then add 6. This tends to generate higher scores. The pc's are supposed to be higher then average heroes after all. A character with nothing but 12's and 14's for stats just isn't heroic.

  • say what you will but unless you've actually played the game you have no idea how fun it can be.

  • *sigh** commercials. what a fag having commercials on your shit

  • This weirds me out because I was thinking . . . do they need to explain this? Cos I thought . . . DnD is supposed to be social. If you're playing with other players, can't they tell you how to play.

Then again, knowing the sort of people that know how to play DnD . . . and how much they hate n00bs like me . . . yeah, this is a hella useful for major players.

    Many thanks to Barry here.

  • @KelniusTV only online mmos have gay fags that call people noobs.

i dont play games like d&d but the people ive met are pretty cool =]

  • Pffft made my own system using Merp and 2nd edtn TSR. DM 20+ yrs. Full battleboard (17x17) figs painted and scenery (bushes, buildins, trees etc)

we have the roleplayers and the atmosphere. People come over to watch us as they love the storyline the chars, Ive been told its better than some movies.

  • @dinglenutzz Well u go grrl Dnd is good enough u obviously have to much time get a job

  • the 1st syllable is accented on the word "Attributes" when used as a noun, not the second. AT-trib-ute, not at-TRIB-utes. Also, 1 "dice" is a die.

  • Just because Vin Diesel plays this doesn't mean it's not nerdy as fuck.

  • is this a board game if not what the hell is it?

  • @UnDeadTroll47 its not a game. its real life

  • that is not how i play my way is better

  • is t possible to play with only one player or do you need more than one player as a character plus the DM?

  • @themcmanns5 Of course you can play like that but it seems it would be less fun

  • yeah im a begginer to my dm is very very specific on what you need

  • at least you have a DM Nobody i Know has even HEARD of it!!

    LOL XD

  • screw your commercials

  • spider d&d is set for middle age style play there is the d20 modern which is like d&d but modern you can make the the changes yourself and there is a lot of other books that give more choice

  • Im new to D&D and never played it before, so this is honestly an innocent question. Ok, so if D&D is a game where U control every aspect of the game, (Map, Characters, skills, etc) then WHY then is everyone limited to only FOUR choices of character "Types"? I mean, I see a lot of wizards, knights, and healers N just about EVERY story around the middle ages. Lord of the Rings for example...Is it possible to have a more MODERN, customized character with someone like a "lazergun" or something? lol

  • check other RPGs like warhammer

  • Well, it's up to the DM. I just started too, and my DM is pretty open minded with whatever we want to do. But as for 'types' you mean class? I know that there's definitely more than four starting classes.

  • Those are just the basic classes in D&D, you can pick them to make it easier for yourself because they are already made and you dont have to think about everything about the char. But, you can still create you own character any way you like, I read a little of the booklet and there are rules to create a new balanced character.

I play D&D and also I play a Naruto RP game with some other friends where you get to make up a ninja character as you like and we have a good GM so its fun.

  • well ya, you can play a modern version of dnd. they have a book for to give guidelines on how to set it up. my dnd group is playing a futuristic version that our DM made from scratch. and there are more classes than just four. anyway, if you have more questions, you can message me or whatever

  • Depends on your DM really. I'm running a steampunk campiagn and I'm allowing one of my players to make a flamethrower (just as long as he has high enough rolls).

  • Where did you get the idea of only four choices? Even in the 1st edition there are: Cleric, Druid, Fighter, Paladin, Ranger, Magic User, Illusionist, Thief, Assassin and Monk. In the 4th (current) edition there are over 20 classes.

  • Heh, considering all the extra's you could get with 3.5, there must be well over 100 different classes/prestige classes in the mix.

The problem is, people see things like LotR and assume that you can play a fighter, a theif, a wizard and a cleric.

The problem is, most of the time, you need at least those 4 in some way shape or form (that is, a strength based, arcane caster, divine caster and dexterous character) to have an effective party.

  • Hi, I'm really searching for a list of all the classes in the current edition. Do you know where I could find one?

  • Is there some sort of book I can get that will explain this stuff? : P

  • Get The Players Handbook(TPH), v3.5. The new version (4.0) has not been widely adopted & in many opinions is too "dumbed-down". Once you get TPH, just open to page 1 & read the first few chapters. These chapters are a good intro to the basics of the game. They introduce basic terminology needed across a gaming table, races (humans, dwarves, elves etc.), & classes (Fighter, wizard, monk etc). IMHO, beginners should start out as barbarians or fighters as these are the easiest to play. Good luck

  • @thejaymers If you want higher realism, 3.5 is great. But if you just want to play a game and you don't need a rule for every thinkable situation, then pick-up 4.0.

  • the AD&D Manuals I would recommend the players handbook, there are different versions. Or you may wnat to find and sit in on a game (look for groups in a comic book store)

  • vin diesel plays dungeons and dragons ,there for, any claims that it is nerdy is instantly destroyed by a maximized fireball

  • ...when you add the word 'diesel' and 'fireball' in the same sentance? your just asking for a HUGE exsplosion... just a little safety tip, there...

    Be Safe.

  • Heh, I know your comment was 5 months ago, but Jakonen, just because Vin Diesel played D&D doesn't make it any less nerdy/geeky.

I have played 3.5 for the last 9 years or so, a big fan of the AD&D system before that.

But I will still happily admit it is one of the most stereotypical nerd/geek hobbies out there.

We shouldn't be afraid of admitting this, but should instead stand proud :)

  • @jakonen DnD IS nerdy..But that's not a problem. Being nerdy is great

  • @jakonen ok now, no offense, but that was a really nerdy way of saying that....

  • @jharrod123 Thats the Idea =)

  • @jakonen your right

  • @jakonen vin diesel is a fag

  • "uh-TRIB-yoots" or "A-trib-yoots?"

  • The two yutes. I'm sorry..."Youths"

  • A moment of psychology at work, he paused before saying 'fat'.

Still, not to insult or say he is fat. Heck, I'd pause when I say the word 'lean' or 'skinn'.

It's details like this that you think when creating a character in DnD, for example a character with low CHA is likely to have low self esteem in appearance as well.

So he might pause before saying things like 'fat' or even tend to avoid them at all costs, creating confusing speech which can antagonize NPC ...but who cares.

  • this guys just like my dad.

  • @EvilCupcakeStudios Then your Dad must be a fuck up.

  • Can anybody recommend a DnD game thats online, that u dont need 2 buy stuff at a shop, that u can choose ur class and that u can have different types of people and lands...because all I find is Runescape, AQ Worlds and they dont give u much stuff and freedom to be an elf or something, so plz someone recommend something!!!!

  • the game neverwinter nights one and two are both based off of dnd. before u buy it i think u should look at the game and watch vids on them to find if that is what u want

  • Thank u alot!

  • anytime

  • um world of warcraft maybe??

  • well, theres a DnD online mmorpg, but im not sure if its real or not, you could play World of Warcraft, Everquest, Guildwars, Warhammer online and Lord of the Rings online. Look them up and pick the one you think looks good, there is also demos for them to try out for free.

  • I like your grip on reality, but trash talking to a trash talker is just sinking to their level right?

    you just insulted yourself.

  • Aside from the "Chiefs and Indians" comment, great video! Especially seeing as how it was all done without any edits.

  • Is all you need the books??? Because i found a basic set thing on borders and im not really sure if i should get it, as it is $50! Can i just get the books only and play?

  • I play 3.5 and I like it more than 4.

  • i have never played DD but would like to try it anyone know how much it costs to get started??

  • a lot of money thats all i know

  • nothing. just the dice ...

  • the Pc's need a players handbook and a set of dices

But the Dm needs all the 3 books

  • Both these guys are correct, but it depends on what you want to do. If you just want to play, then all you need is the dice, which run you about $5 or so. The other approach is if you want to set up games, in which you'd have to buy the Dungeon Master's Guide, Player Handbook, and Monster Manual. But sit in on a few games first, try 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Edition rules and see which one you like best. The older the edition, the cheaper the books.

  • I played with a group for 2 years before I felt I NEEDED to buy a Player's Handbook. Any decent group is gonna let you look at the books they have during gaming time.

If you need more time with a book, ask if you can show up early, or meetup with the DM for lunch or something and talk about the game.

  • I like to make up my own classes like Necromancer :D summoning skeletons and casting shadowbolts setting people on fire only :D

  • lol i play 1st edition AD&D

  • excuse me i am female play d & d and i am neither thank u very much :P

  • wud u recommend 4th edition to a new player?

  • yeah, its better in my opinion to start out with the edition you plan on sticking with, transitioning editions can be weird

  • ok that makes sense thank you

  • Heyyy...I'm a 21st level Ranger elf with a level 15 legendary tiger! And if i diddnt know this then why would i know wat a legendary tiger was!=o

  • do u guys think it would be a wast to buy the 4th edition since every body seas it sucks cuz i play 3.5 but i cant find any of the books

  • 4th editions is a good version, but longtime players think its to simple. But its easyer to get in to and almost like 3.5 (with extra rules) but with easyer to understand rules

  • AD&D above all others!

  • ftw

  • wow my brain exploded watching this lol i had no clue what he was going on about

  • hahah harsh lol but nice :D

  • my bro plays d&d, and now i wanna play =]

  • I personaly love to play characters oposit to who I am, and since I´m a realy nice guy I usaly roleplay the brute who cracks heads as easly as opening a beer

  • This game sounds kinda like runescape.

  • man its nerdy....but u gotta love it...;D

  • I'd pwn that dude at some 20side. Seriouz5ly.

  • Ha, I play dungeons and dragons (Just started a Dragonborn Warlord), and nobody DARES to call me a nerd, because I play football too. Jocks and "Nerds" can live in harmony, see?

  • indeed, this is so.

  • That's pretty cool!

  • Thats a good point, i like Futurama and i have braces. I'm not a nerd and im in the popular crowd at my school.

Ohh, and i have a boyfriend.

  • sup, no one cares about your boyfriend jewdas

  • ...I think I'll stick to reality (^-^)

  • you're an idiot.

  • That's all you got? (^-^) How cute XD

  • Why everytime people talk about DnD it comes down to things like this?

  • well then you need to stay away from books, movies, video games, tv or anything else grounded mostly in fiction.

  • i just started plaing dnd with my friends (lvl 3 dragonborn barbarian) and its a group of 5 people, and we are always labled as the nerds or the geeks, but if you think about it, we like playing dnd just how others like playing sports or other games/activites

  • yeah except you don't play sports or other games/activities

  • my point, we enjoy playing this then other things like sports. we can play whatever we want just like how you jocks do

  • Huh? You randomly troll and accuse us of getting bullied? Someone obviously is venting after getting a wedgie at school today.

  • Um? Since when i am nerd if i play DnD ?

  • Being called a nerd, in my oppinion, is a complement.

  • i wish more people thought like that

  • @zenebar mine too xD besides nerds actually get places in life >.>

  • @zenebar what if someone used it in a context that clearly implied they were disrespecting you, or intended to upset, sadden, or anger you for their own bored and sickness

  • @zenebar yea i love being called a nerd :)

  • @zenebar It depends on the type of "Nerd". There are these types of nerds who are "Video Game" nerds, or "Comic Book". You need to be more specific, because there are also the nerds who have loads of pimples, glasses, kind of a nazaly voice... And can't get laid.

There are too many nerds to just classify them into one stereotype.

  • we all have a NERD IN SIDE! copy and paste

  • we all have a NERD IN SIDE! copy and paste

  • i honestly wonder how anybody does this

  • whaatafuck...geeks

  • we all have a NERD IN SIDE!

  • i used to play AD&D. My favorite character to play was a Drow Ranger, and no, it's not who you think it is. I played back in the 80's, so yes, it was way before R.A.S. conceived of him in his stories.

  • we all have a NERD IN SIDE! copy and paste

  • w00t d and d rocks

  • lol 5 sex ago

  • That's from Unforgotten Realms you dick.

  • Omg so wat i love that joke don't have to call me a dick

  • Wow, I'm just surfing and haven't played D&D for years. But, it was one of the most enjoyable memories of my youth. Loved it. It was like reading the best fantasy novel you could imagine, but each chapter was guided by your actions, or changed by the actions of your friends around the table. Once had a loaded 357Mag pointed at me by a 12 year old (minutes after I killed his character), then quit playing (no kidding). Miss it.

  • no way, thats the silliest thing i have ever heard, what kind of coked up sicko nerds did you play with?

  • yeh, plus i think that playing it speaking rarther than on a board that has turns and rolling die to move

  • The GM needs to have a good sense of humor to make the game extremely enjoyable.... My dad rocks at it =)

  • i have been trying to join a group of people who play D&D and are alowing new players and you know something, NO ONE CAN TAKE ANY MORE PLAYER

  • Hey im trying to do it on-line. Interested?

  • D&D rocks!

  • D&D is cool.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • so if you have to get at least 3 on all attributes, doesnt that mean you have to get at least a 15 on your dice roll in order to follow the rules?

  • No no you start with 8 on all of the attributes then you roll 4 or 3 die.

  • 3 in each attributes. means you need a 1 or a 2 to follow the rules.

need to follow the rules = rolling on attribute checks.

higher attributes beef up your character and make it more god like.

No attributes are needed to efficiently roleplay, actually D&D versions 2,3 and 4, make it considerebaly harder to roleplay act because you are constantly dealing with numbers.

But it can be dorky and fun. Plus stunning artwork !

  • video games stem from these basic principles and this game is the corner stone of most video games today. And it doesn't take that long to understand the rules you just need to have the self-motivation to learn the rules.

  • Huh? It's easy when you play it on video game!

  • You know, D & D is just another board game, anyone who disses it is not thinking properly. D & D is another board game, like Monopoly or Risk, infact, you don't even need a board... but you know what, don't insult other people for what they enjoy, seriously, Dungeons and Dragons is the biggest board game, and it has been for the past 30 years. And, there are propbably alote of people who keep it a secret because they think it's geeky, and before anyone comments about this, I havn't played D&D.

  • That post would have sounded much better if you had actually played the game. 1. It looks like you are talking about something you know nothing about, and 2. You are like making an oxymoron saying lots of people like to hide it, yet talking about it and then saying you haven't played it...

  • I dont play it, I have no idea how to play it, but I ceratinly wouldnt make fun of someone who does, like you said, its just fun entertainment. people shouldnt make fun of others simply because they have altering views as to what is fun and what they enjoy doing during freetime. cheers

  • Yah... I read this now and I think it's stupid... sorry. Now I actually HAVE played it, and it's nothing to insult people about. To people who think this will not get them anywhere in their life. Thats not completly true, I don't have examples though. But I do think it's a little weird that people who are 35+ play D&D... they SHOULD have more important things to worry about.

  • it is fun

  • dungeons & dragons! tenenenenenent

  • yea dnd is awsome but most of the players are so annoying saying that they have 'imagination' & stuff. they hav great imagination but its always mythical creatures, landscapes(mostly beautiful landscapes with ancient monuments & stuff), warlords, armies, fortresses, dungeons & that kind of things. they only imagine stuff like that. thats the theme of their imagination. anything other than that its not 'imagination-ish' enough for them. they don't even know the true meaning of imagination

  • dnd it's not the only rol game in the world. Of course it's going to be all about dragons, castles and stuff, because that's the whole idea of the game. I you play Star Wars or Vampire, the theme changes, so it's not only dragons and kings and stuff.

  • Everyone who hates on D&D needs to realize that D&D is one of the greatest games ever made. And the fact that they hate upon this game usually means they're too stupid to perform the basic arithmetic for this game. And not all people who play D&D are weaklings or nerds. Its a game for people with imaginations.

  • Agreed, it got me into reading and using my imagination. But for the haters I suppose its easier to pound away on a keyboard than read a few books and hang out with your friends on a saturday night gaming the night away old school style.

  • I hear you. I don't play D&D, but I payother games and read, too, and I'm definately not some loser, dork, or nerd. I use my brain, which is different than most people nowadays.

  • how it is any diffrent from playing a video game or anything like that.

  • but you play video games, so it sounds like faggots DO play video games.

  • I think I see what you did there. But, it's you. You're the faggot.

  • Nice comeback, Dumbshit, but maybe your dad would prefer if you sucked his dick right now rather than look up D&D videos, cunt

  • It seems that you have sucking dicks on your mind. Perhaps that is a result of all those years of guzzling down Fr. Fintans cum when you were an alter boy, you giant powerfag.

  • Nah, but your mom's pussy juice sure is tasty.

  • Oh hey, it's generic insult time. Is an insult to my mother really the best you could come up with? Seriously, you are trying to insult me by insulting someone who isn't me. Your logic is completely flawless. I've got a feeling that you'll be too retarded to pick up on my sarcasm.

    You are pretty dumb.

  • cool

  • Thanks, Im playing tommorrow at a friends house, I needed this.

  • fag

  • Thats not necessarily how it works. People should just read the rule book

  • "Dice" is plural. "Die" is singular (in the U.S. at least).

    And aren't they āt'rə-byōōts NOT ə-trĭb'yōōts???

Sorry, bit of a stickler for this kind of thing.

  • Shut up nerd.

  • ???
