@evilbetty2011 I'm 23, and french. I was a big house fan, and now I prefer funk music, more alive, more improvisation, more possibilities, and a strong bass.
Between 2:33 and 4:27 you are like mesmerized by the funky electric guitar, then at 4:27 the bass solo is killing you. The surprise effect is great ! WHAT A BASS MY FRIENDS WHAT A BASS
IF YOU KNOW YOUR MUSIC THIS IS PURE MUSIC !!! NO DAMN AUTO TUNE SO SIT YO YOUNG ASS DOWN AND GET SOME OLD HITS AND THEN YOU WILL HERE WHERE YOUR MUSIC COMES FROM !!! FACT NOT FICTION !!!!!
One of my all time favorites. The essence of "funk"! When it comes to slap bass, theres Nate then everybody else. If this cut does not make you make the "funk face", nothing will LOL!
Preach Brothers ... Preach!!! If they liked this... they will love Side Effect... Brothers Johnson... Cameo... Lakeside... Shalimar... The Bar Kays... Dynasty... Tower of Power... AWB... Blackbyrds.. Bootsie... Parliment... The Whispers... Nytro... Mother's Finest... Earth Wind and Fire... George Duke... and on and on till the break of dawn!
The biggest way to combat the crap music of today is to educate the younger generations. Share the music of yester year with them. Take them to a music store rather than Walmart. Buy them a real instrument rather than Rock Band! If they actually learn what it takes to actually make music, they wil appreciate the art form a lot more! Encourage them to pratice and invite friends over to jam rather than complain about the noise!
I will always love this band and the guys in it. I worked with them when I was still in college as an internship. Toured the country, got to see Sylvester when he recorded the live album, worked for the first time at the Apollo. An amazing group of men.
in 79 I was 23 and playing the bass because of groups like pleasure. in 2011 I'm 55 and still playing the bass because of groups like pleasure. Nuff said. A classic bassline and homework for all serious electric bass guitar players.
I wished all you people would stop using vulgar lanugage and talk about this good piece of music in a more adult, professional way. I'm 47 years old and I do remembe when this song was released, and it hasn't changed. The same great jam it has been and will always be. I'm sure the band members of Glide would be happy about that! Stop acting like Gordon Ramsey!
some of you need to quit bitchin about samples not being real music, some samplers are way more talented than the supposed "real musicians that make there own damn music" from the 70s and 80s. if you dont believe me check out jel's sweetcreaminit or rjd2's ghostrider. samples are fucking awsome.
There are some really good intellectual arguments on here...Money and quick riches played on the naive and the lack of of backbone from industry has reduced music to turning knobs and actuating keys to start a loop or trigger a sampled sound...
One of the singers from the group "GUY" said he was going to bring instruments back into Funk. Never happened. Never got the FUNK either. You have to follow tours to get FUNK
