  • nice dish, damn!!

grab over 1 million free recipes here: yourfreerecipes(dot)tk

  • why am i watching this before i go to bed?? *sigh*

  • isn't the skin gummy and nasty from sitting in juice?

  • @thatbastardson Yes. I made this dish last night. And the chicken skin was exactly that. But overall the dish was delicious.

  • @VOICEofTRNC Yea, you have to take the skin off first, in dishes like this. There are a few Italian dishes that are made with chicken legs sticking straight up out of the mixture. De-skinned, of course.

  • Super duper hungry I am!

  • I am SO hungry right now. o.0

  • I made this the other night and it is amazing if you get the ingredients correct. Thanks Chef John!

  • can you make a rice and mushrooms casserole? I like rice but I'm so bored of the plain flavour I don't know what else could I do with it to taste good...it's annoying really...

  • This came out amazing! Thanks for sharing : )

  • Good morning,

I'm a first time viewer, but I noticed you don't always give the measurement of the ingredients used. I still enjoyed the video and will continue to watch. Thanks!!!

  • @PammieChan ofcourse smart witty comments like yours would roll in.....

  • @pokadotguitar92x

Roflmao! Hahaha, but learning how to cook is fun! :)

  • Looks really, really nice, as a butcher I will give you one tip- for the drunsticks: trim around 1 1/2 inch from the bottom of the drum stick, this will remove the tendons and tenderise the meat. Also making it easier to eat and looks very presentable.

Thanks for the rice idea, gonna cook it today.

  • can it be cooked stove top for 30 min instead of oven

  • how much chicken stock/water is needed?

  • wooooooooooooooooooow :D

  • Just made this. turned out amazing. I originally thought it would be pretty bland, but the rice turns out fantastic!

  • That's awesome! Now and then, my Mum makes something like this, but when she serves it, she gets this big pan and flips the pot on it to make it into a cool shape (You know, like what you do with custard soemtimes). Anyways...We would have this game when we eat, and we would all put our own rice, but the first one to make the rice get out of it's original shape has to clean the dishes that night lol. Whoever reads this should definatley try it. Remember, don't knock till you try it. =]

  • yum yum

  • gooodddddddd

  • WOW am in shock the man said bake!!!

  • This recipe can be cooked on stove top as well and still come out tasty.

I use mixture of pork, chicken & shrimp to this recipe. Yummy.

  • looks awesome, this will be sunday afternoon, couple of questions:

    1. can i just use chicken legs (cheap here) cut into drums and thighs?

    2. should the rice be fried until it changes colour or is that not necessary?

great videos, i am a fan!

  • Can i use brown rice with this?

  • winner winner...

  • very good.

though, it is very much like the M.eastern(Arab in the golf) recipe called KABSA, little modified. I like it .

    thanks

  • What if I don't have a pot I can put in the oven?? Can I just make this stove top??

  • @tulip2111 Yes you can.

  • Bien hecho!! Good job man

Viva Arows con Poio!! Jejeje I like how you sound

  • Nasi Ayam......

  • "and then ull blame me" lol

  • U made me hungry

  • U forgot removing the chicken skin!!!!

  • @gog3tass4 Why should the skin be removed? It's delicious!

  • @gog3tass4 skin does not have to be removed, it's just a personal choice. I also love leaving the skin because it gives a special taste to the rice

  • that looked so good I must try it, thanks for the recipe

  • i tried making this but my chicken was burnt on the outside and it was cold inside...w/e is there something wrong with my oven?

  • @The12GAme Was it frozen beforehand? lol

  • I tried this dish today & it was so delish! Easy & fool proof! Thanks for yet another fabulous recipe.

  • Garlic would be awesome in this.

  • @MrGlennJohnsen yes u were;D

  • lol crappier paN! this guy is the best. i love his mono-tone humor. i think i can also smell the chicken and rice thru the computer...seriously

  • fucking shit im hungry

  • Mmm...rice is good when you're hungry and want two thousand of something :)

  • can you use basmati rice? lol

  • I really like the explanations that you give in passing. Like, I had no idea red peppers were sweet and green peppers were bitter. I thoroughly enjoyed this dish :)

  • @mydog8u2 Green peppers are just an unripe pepper....Peppers go from green to orange, to red. Green peppers are also harder to digest than the redder ones.

  • since I am not a caper fan...I think I would use whole corriander seeds instead. Nice recipe.

  • WHEN HE TOOK IT OUT THE OVEN I HAD A FOOD ORGASM

  • i was born in puerto rico :D and the famous dish there is rice bean and fried chicken or roasted chicken or in spanish arroz habichuella pollo frito or pollo asado <-- the best :D

  • I just made this today, the exact recipe my family loved it! It really is delicious!

  • Can I still make this without Dry Oregano, Capers, and the Cayenne pepper?

    What Difference would it make?

  • @xRockaJoJox

    a lot...

  • my mother tough me how to do this but in the stove top, i use a cast iron pot

  • my dad makes arroz con pollo but it doesn't look as good as this!

  • thanks... this recipe looks great and I could definitely make it for friends, but I don't eat chicken and I'm wondering if fish could be substituted at all? Do you think this would work? Thanks!

  • @Denae81

yea i think Fish would be a great and healthy substitute for Chicken(: but i think the sauce needs to be slightly changed for the fish like a tad zestier. Bahh, what am i doing. Ask chef john(:

  • it looks soo yummy, thanks for the recip, i will definitely try this:)

  • That looks so good,im gonna have to make that tonight.

  • Great recipe! I'll try it!

  • This dish is great. My Mom is from Puerto Rico, and she makes this at least once or twice a month. I love it. By the way great video Chef John.

  • the best arroz con pollo is the peruvian one

  • there's a very similar recipe in Portugal ( you add some "chouriço") it's delicious!!

baked rice and chicken really makes a great combination so go ahead guys, try it! ;)

  • looks a lot like biryani!

  • I made this yesterday and it was really. I would suggest though to include the water from delglazing as a part of the total stock used in the recipe.

BTW, I don't know what he means by one onion b/c his amount seems small. I used one big whole onion, 16/17 pices of thigh meat and 3 cups of rice, increase the stock 1 1/2 & the rest of the ingredients to 1 1/2 times.

Using a bottle, I grind pepper corn on the cutting board, first inside aluminum foil, then directly on it.

  • *drooling* :p

  • ahh! looks sooo good!!!! great job!!!!!! :)))

  • wow...i make this all the time and its a great recipe!!!!

  • LOOKS SUPER GOTTA TRY IT

  • Some chopped mushrooms added to that would be great..

  • are there any substitutes for the Dutch oven?

  • @adnanaeroadnan

Instead of using a blanket over ones face, use a Shamwow!

  • This looks so delicious!

  • no such thing as fancy rice.

  • looks yummy

  • my sis in law had a personal recipe with pork and very similar way of cooking but she didn't fry the veggies nor that much spices. am so gonna try this one.

btw, can you make some fast to cook christmas dinner for beginners? would love to present some to my in laws! thks.

  • i'm gonna try this one!

  • Thanks for the great videos! Can you please pleaseplease do a beef wellington vid?

  • looks good to me

  • @Feilanna : crampier pan... cramped with chicken. Chef John doesn't swear

  • The Fahrenheits sometimes screw me up, but I´ve always loved maths :) 370 F° minus 37 equals 332, times 5 equals 1660, divided by 9 equals 184,44 °C :) Easy!

  • It's (F-32)*5/9=C

    or C*9/5+32=F

  • You know what would be a great addition to this dish (which looks fabulous btw) would be some sofrito. That was make it more authentic Puerto Rican.

  • LOL "crappier pan" that's funny. :D

  • man this channel makes me hungry...

  • @sup718

    me too... :P~

  • Chef John, is it possible for you to get the metric conversion from Fahrenheit to Centigrade? My oven doesn't temperatures in Fahrenheit >.>

  • About conversion from Fahrenheit to Celcius, just go to your old friend Google. Type in "370 F in C", and it calculates it for you. Google can calculate almost anything.

  • Sure, deepfy tofu, BAM there ya go.

  • what culinary school did you go to??

  • I tried this recipe yesterday! Thanks so much, Chef! It was delicious and as you said, so simple to make! :)

Now I'm browsing through your videos to see what I'll have tonight ;)

  • Chef john is it going to be ok if i dont have to continue cooking this dish in an oven? we dont have oven yet :( and i really want to try this for christmas. please help me :) thanks :)

  • It is absolutely fine. In fact, it comes out better just done over the stove. Just cover the rice with ½ inch of the liquids, (water, or stock) bring to a boil, and as soon as it start boiling set the flame to low, (Flame should be about 1/4 of an inch over the burner surface) and stir the rice until is loose, then add the chicken. Cover it and let it cook for 20 minutes, after that, turn the rice with the chicken once and let it cook for another 5 minutes.

  • thank you for your help:) really appreciate it:)

  • Chef John videos are comfort food in themselves, without the calories..lol...But they do make you hungry.

  • This looks soooo delicious Chef John, I love all your recipes! :) Thanks!

  • i *love* my stainless pan

  • Just sitting back after enjoying this meal. I ended up skipping the olives and capers (don't care for olives, couldn't find my capers). Excellent. I love the flavors. I also like the little spice kick to it. Thanks!
