that sound is compressor surge, not the spring opening and shutting again. The spring isn't opening at all because its not hitting enough boost at idle to blow off
8000 miles with the same turbo the same bov and it´s just perfect, thats´s a stupid myth so don´t be worried for my bov, if it brokes well i´ll buy a new one i love the way it sounds

@Tysf22 well the mechanic has 25 years working with turbos and racing cars, so he has the enough experience also has the fastes 4 cyl car in here, so i trust what he does, after 8000 miles and 1 year the turbo and the engine it´s perfect it´s my daily driven car with 411 hp no so big deal and apart of that it´s not a ball bearing turbo, and as i say if the turbo breaks i´ll buy a new one. love the surge! i blocked my BOV off 4 years ago. Stock turbo has taken 3 years of daily thrashing and the last 1 year track drifting, no signs of trouble yet, and thats running 13psi, the turbo fucken loves it, wish it would die, time 4 an upgrage.
Dude, that little adjustment knob on the top of the valve is there for a reason.. Loosen up that spring.. I know it sounds good fluttering like that.. but that sound is the spring shutting the valve over and over again because it's too stiff.
@bozzben6969 Agreed, I Have a Type RS Greddy and it should not have such a "heavy" flutter sound, give her about one turn loose (left) and go from there, as a DSM owner I still gotta give ya a Thumbs UP, I don't dislike (I respect Honda owners who treat them well) Honda's I just won't be caught driving one (no offence to Honda owners)
@MrSlowSkyline Is right. If youre getting compressor surge while in the throttle thats what will hurt a turbo. Not the case when pressure is being released, that wont hurt a thing.
