  • Saw Rickey break the record when I was a kid. I cracked up whe he said "I'm the greatest of all time!" Just showed my boys. Thanks for posting

  • Henderson was best leftfielder ever

  • I remember this vid from when i was a kid. I decided to watch it again after watching the lou gehrigs farewell speech. WOW what a difference! humble sincere and truely moving versus arrogant disrespectful and embarrasing . Are there any humble professional sports stars in America?

  • @perf5paul It ain't bragging if its the truth

  • @myboyz24 That doesnt even make sense? I dont care even if he was the GOAT. I said "humble and sincere vs arrogant and disrespectful. And its hard to brag about something that isnt the truth? , ever heard of the term "bragging rights" ?....... the right to brag. so even that saying is wrong......shit you just suck!

  • @perf5paul 1406 steals-next on list-938. Numbers don't lie, so shut up, bitch. You sound very upset about the truth. Lou Brock even said he had no problem with what he said. Man, you're the one who sucks LOL!

  • @myboyz24 Im upset about the truth? of course i am dickhead Im totally devestated about the truth .......it makes me sooooo sad (retard) . But since you cant read ill say it again. I never said he wasnt the greatest. I said he was arrogant. maybe I should draw you a picture? You must be some dumbass kid?

  • @perf5paul I was touring the world when your stupid ass was in you dad's nut sack, SO RESPECT YOUR ELDERS, BITCH!!!!! When you're as great as he was, its hard to be humble. Next time your bitch-ass wants to step up to a grown man, get your shit together, son. I eat punks like you for breakfast!

  • @myboyz24 Really your an adult? wow your mother must have dropped you when you where a baby. I thought it was a kid I was correcting, I thought only a child could be that dumb, sorry I wont pick on you any more, you clearly have literacy problems. Good luck!

  • @perf5paul & your mom must be REALLY proud of the way your sorry-ass turned out. I mean, really, your dad must have been drunk as hell to fuck your mom. Look, don't try to pump fear this way, wanna-be internet thug, because you don't scare me. Go somewhere else with your daddy issues. Talking to a child LOL! Don't get mad at me because you're not the sharpest tool in the shed, smh. Pathetic loser.

  • @perf5paul I dont think this was all that boastful. It sounded like it the first 5 times i heard it. But look at it in context he just broke the base stealing record and was told to do a speech. And he first honors Lou Brock and I mean what do you say in a speech like that with an adrenaline rush. He really was the "greastest" basestealer "of all time"

  • If you don't know Rickey is over all one of the top 5 players EVER just go to baseball reference and at the bottom it lists all the carer stats he is on at the TOP I had the pleasure of meeting him at a gas station he was filling up a 500SL me a VW we started talking he was very engaging we were having fun me $10.00 him $35.00 later it was the 80's. Thing that he said was he wasn't off to a good start but when "Sept roll around pitchers arms get tired I'll be back hittin 300" Loved him

  • @tellthetruthg,

Seven seasons over .300, only modest power at best, and a weak throwing arm keep him out of the top 10 position players of all time. Maybe he is in the top 20 with his speed. His .400+ OBP is really impressive for a great base stealer too! His career is something to be damn proud of though even if he isn't in the top 10.

  • @MegaAstrodude Rickey was a free swinger his HR totals as a lead off man attest to that, I am biased. I don't know if there is a stat for how many game winning scores a player made if there is I'm certain he's # 1. Plus the intangible the havoc he caused when on base was truly amazing. Pitchers and catchers knew what was gonna happen but it didn't stop him in the slightest. I contest your take on his power 297 hr. He didn't have a great arm but he cut off the gap line drives by pure speed +

  • @MegaAstrodude just some stuff off reference all time stats #134 in HR's #2 in walks #4 on base % Power and speed #2 Plate apperances #4 SB's # 1 Assists in put outs #4 this how many guys he threw out trying to take the extra base. This stunned me maybe because he played so long or his arm was tested by runners way more than May's or Clemente's was . See do you get credit for not getting run on? Love baseball . thanks for the RE

  • his daughter is in my pe class he always comes to our school and everybody goes nutts

  • @RandomJoePower Pete Rose is good but a healthy Tim Raines is better than Pete Rose. I wish I remember but someone wrote an article on Peete Rose and showed resemblance between the two.

  • @RandomJoePower I was talking about 2007, there was a period Reyes was slumping but Rickey some how got the blame. And the Mets offensively suck as a team and HOJO refused to listen to his own hitting coach while with the Cubs at the end of his career. So, now people are suppose to listen to him.

  • @RandomJoePower Just so understand what I am saying by Piazza wasn't good. He would not have even gotten drafted out of High School if it wasn't for Tommy Lasorda. Not me, Major League scouts saw nothing impressive or potentially impressive about him. He had no raw power or that wouldn't be the case. But the juice made Piazza one of the greatest draft steals ever.

  • @RandomJoePower Piazza wasn't good. Players have been juicing their whole career, like Piazza and Pujols. If their body did change you would say it was hard work and a protein shake. Pujols was chubby and was not so highly looked upon. Nobody wanted Piazza and he was drafted as a favor for Tommy Lasorda (he was the dodgers last pick). Griffey got old and chubby so yeah his body changed. And why would Canseco rat on everybody except Rickey Henderson. Bad Logic

  • @RandomJoePower Oh so your one of those people that blame Rickey for Jose Reyes not playing well but you cut Howard Johnson slack since he's a homegrown Met despite being his hitting coach. And Piazza definitely juiced up.

  • @RandomJoePower Go suck a dick, bitch!! He's easily one of the top10 players to EVER played the game. All-time leader in runs, unintentional walks, stolen bases, leadoff home runs, 3,000+ hits. You obviously don't respect greatness when you see it, or don't know SHIT about baseball. Either way, you're a fag.

  • @RandomJoePower Tell me what team you like so I can break your heart for your favorite players.

  • @RandomJoePower Bitter Ty Cobb fan.

  • GOAT no doubt.

  • Over freakin' rated. Lifetime batting average of .279. BEST average ever in a season: .325. Most hits ever in a season: 179. Know what his average hits per year was for the second half of his career? 99. Pathetic. I'd probably take 10 lead off hitters before I'd pick "The Greatest of All Time." Ichiro makes this guy look like garbage. Ichiro's AVERAGE hits per season is probably around 220. My 10 year-old son knows this stuff. It's common sense.

  • @wolffpakk overrated? Are you on crack? The man is the all-time leader in runs, unintential walks, stolen bases(single-season & career), & leadoff home runs. Oh, & he STILL had over 3,000 hits despite having over 2,000 walks. Tim Raines, Vince Coleman, Lenny Dykstra, & Ichiro can't hold a candle next to him. Rickey will go down as one of the top 10 players of all time, so yes he IS the G.O.A.T. Your boy Ichiro is a 1-dementional player, while Rickey was a 5-tool player

  • @myboyz24 I agree with you 100%. Here is a great game - two players, tell me which belongs in the Hall of Fame. Player 1 scored more runs than any player in the history of the game, earned more 'unintentional' walks than any player in history, and has a better fielding percentage than Willie Mays. Player 2 has 3,000 hits, almost 300 home runs, League MVP and has two World Series rings. The answer, of course, is that both players belong in the Hall ... and both are Rickey Henderson.

  • @wolffpakk Rickey was the MAIN reason the A's won the 'chip in '89, and how many rings does Ichiro have?

  • @wolffpakk I assume you're joking, but just in case you're not, the reason he had relatively few hits was because he WALKED so much - you know, getting on base? The leadoff hitter's job?

  • Rickey was something else...he was great on the 93 Jays and always killed us when we played the Yanks or As. If he got on first, he was on second, automatic.

  • My favorite quote by Henderson was last year when he was asked something about Canseco and steroids, Henderson replied that he had no idea that Canseco was using them and he wished Canseco had told him because he'd have been even better. Haha, Rickey is the shit.

  • @uxbnkuribo That's right, Rickey is the shit. I liked him when he was on the Yankees.

  • @uxbnkuribo haha that is great. He is the man that's for sure.

  • Barry Bonds will always be my number one, but Ricky is two! I fuckin love you Ricky!

  • i am a cubs fan as well, but rickey is the best. the cubs traded brock...just like they always do with young talent. and rickey wasn't more than just speed. he was technique. he ran low and slid lower. thats why he had so many calls go his way, he was always under the tag. most scouts told their catchers in rickey's prime "he's too fast. don't even try to throw him out." but he was catchable. he holds the record for most times caught stealing.

  • Before the juice, Barry Bonds who some apparently think was behind Griffey and Eric Davis, won 3 mvp awards (count how many those two won.)

If that's the standard to be just another 5 tool all star caliber player, Eric Davis and Griffey did not meet that standard.

  • I am the greatest!

  • shut up racists bitches.

  • @wilzusuki Who in hell are you talking about. ESPN is racist for saying he...got a job. OMG how terrible. Jackass

  • @peachkinzproductions

what proof do you have that rickey juiced? none whatsoever. He was just one of the most gifted athletes and also a great baseball player. You gonna claim Usain Bolt juices too? Just because hes fast doesn't mean hes juiced up.

  • Greatest leadoff hitter ever. It's not even a discussion.

  • it kinda sucks...he played 25 years, he juiced, and he was just rude. to tell you, as a cubs fan, lou brock, was the best base stealer of all time; this guy, NO match for him

  • @PeachkinzProductions Yeah it does suck what you just said, because its wrong. First of all Rickey did not juice, and demolishing the stolen base record by almost 500 bases pretty much seals HIM as the greatest base stealer, and lead-off man, of all time. RICKEY HAD SIXTY AT THE BREAK! And you shouldn't start any baseball-related sentence with "I tell you, as a Cubs fan" unless its followed by, "Losing makes me smile, and championships are overrated"

  • @PeachkinzProductions Got some sort of proof of Henderson juicing?

  • riiiickkeyyy!!!!! you da man rickey!!!!!!!!!!

  • my favorite player of all time? Ken griffey Jr., his favorite player? Rickey Henderson, who am i to argue with junior?

  • Ricky is the Greatest of all time...He soo badass he talks in third person...and this was a REAL player not a juice monkey u see in todays game...

  • @daytradernupe you can't compare Rickey and bonds because they had 2 totally differnt jobs/styles of play

  • Anyone who claims Rickey Henderson was on steroids is a classless POS who has absolutely nothing to base that on.

  • If henderson did steroids, his body would be breaking down by now. Look at all the old bodybuilders. They're all dead or in wheelchairs except for Arnold, who's basically put together by plastic and orthopedic surgeons. McGwire and Canseco all have had surgeries just to be able to walk on their own these days I believe. Rickey's still very fit for his age.

Its impossible to prove Canseco's wrong because anyone who hasn't been found out could just be using undetectable steroids.

  • best baseball player Ive seen in 30 years of watching the game.

  • agreed.

  • wow that was really humble of u to say rickey

  • rickey henderson is still a fucking asshole

  • rickey turn you down for a date or what pauly? for a fucking asshole, you sure are up on videos about him.

it's always hard getting over your first rejection but c'mon... let it go..

  • I thinka he tooka the Esteroids..

  • Idiot,to this day people still say he has a great body. Stfu with your unfounded accusations.

  • so u claim if you take steroids and u retire you'll get fat? thats not true you keep the muscle much longer than those who earned it naturally this is a fact and have seen it with guys first hand if u take steroids and u stop working out u will keep the muscle longer than someone who didnt. Not sayin henderson did em but canseco claims rickey did and canseco hasnt been wrong yet so who knows rickeys claim of 200 pushups as his only workout seems a little farfetched

  • Jose Canseco never once said Rickey Henderson did steroids. Never once!

  • nut hugger is funny

  • YouTube is for comment wars.

  • You're all retarded for fighting on YouTube. Every single one of you :)

    Flex those Computer Muscles!!!

I love this video. It makes me laugh every time I watch it.

  • LOL...I was being civilized...Read back through the last few comments...This jerk came outta nowhere and started attacking me...I only defended myself.

  • LOL, True.

  • rickey henderson is a fucking asshole

  • Lance Berkman! Hahahahaha, yeah I can tell you know alot about baseball.

  • That is because I know him personally and he is a good guy. He also, gives a great interview. However, since you think it is funny I should hit you with some stats too. Lance career averages a season are: 30HR, 102RBI, .300AVG, 95BB, .975OPS, 95R, 153Hits, 35Doubles. All top 8 active averages a season. He has been to 5 all-star games and started in two. His career post-season averages are even better than his regular seasons. I guess your dumb ass did not know any of this.

  • "I know Lance Berkman personally".

Shut the fuck up, trying to impress people on YouTube is retarded.

  • Who said I was trying to impress anyone? You internet thugs are hilarious. I had an internship in college and I got to know him. Funny how you came on here and attacked me for no reason. That says a lot about your personality. lol

  • Let's try again.

    Shut the fuck up.

  • Real tough over the internet...lol

  • Anyways, dipshit, this video isn't about you, Lance Berkman or internships, or your ability to go online and look up statistics to try to bolster your moronic stances. It's about Rickey Henderson. One of a kind player. And yes, better than your mancrush Barry Bonds.

  • Perhaps your feeble little brain did not notice but, I was responding to a comment that someone made towards me and nothing I posted was not true. But since you conveniently hopped your wack ass on my dick like a broad I guess I can respond to you too homie. I will even put in a language that someone as remedial as yourself can understand. Get off your mom's computer and quit trying to be a tough guy over the internet duke! Go read a book and learn something you are making yourself look stupid.

  • Just stop. If you want to compare Bonds to other power hitters from the same generation that's fine, but don't compare Bonds to the greatest lead off hitter of all time and arguably the greatest player to ever play the game. A lead off hitter's job isn't to juice himself up and hit HR's. Rickey's job was to get on base and score runs and NO PLAYER in the history of baseball has ever scored more runs. Keep Rickey's name out of your mouth.

  • Arguably greatest player of all-time!? LMAO. Dude you are ignorant. Bonds was more than a power hitter before and after the "juice." He is the only 500/500 player in the history of the game and that was all accomplished before 2001 when he supposedly started juicing. Rickey Henderson is my all-time favorite baseball player but, I am not a homer. I am objective unlike you. Rickey Henderson scored 70 more runs than Bonds in his career in 3 more seasons. Bonds runs per season avg is higher.

  • When pundits and players of today and yesterday talk about Bonds they compare him with Mays and Ruth. For as great as Rickey was his peers (who would know best) never place in that type of elite company. Yet you somehow did. I guess you know better than the people who actually played in the league. lol...yeah ok...I know the facts without personal bias...

  • Dude, deal with reality. Before the "juice", Barry Bonds stood in line behind Ken Griffey Jr. Before the "juice", Barry Bonds was yet another 5 tool All Star caliber player, a player in the same mold as Eric Davis. In fact, before the "juice", Eric Davis was ahead of Bonds in terms of natural ability. But you know who Davis, Bonds, Griffey Jr., etc. weren't ahead of? RICKEY. There's only one king, boy. And it was Henderson. So please, dont EVER put Barry Bonds in that conversation.

  • I already laid out the numbers. Before and after the alleged cream and clear...You came with a weak argument about Eric Davis that most baseball players would do a double take at. Nice try chap...

  • bonds was a 40/40 guy before the roids he won 8 gold gloves and 4 mvps before the roids go suck a dick faggot henderson won 1 mvp and 1 gold glove bitch go check out some stats hendersons a great leadoff hitter and solid overall but bonds with or without roids is leaps and bounds ahead of henderson higher career on base percentage more walks 25 ppoints higher average not to mention 500 more homers without roids 400 more homers get real man you obviously dont know much about baseball sayin that

  • @jrtress91 Are you kidding me before the juice Barry Bonds had 3 MVPs, 8 Gold Gloves, the only guy with 400hrs and 400 sbs, led the league in OPS 5 times.

  • @jrtress91 Really im pretty sure Bonds still hit more homers and stole at least 25 or 30 bases. Plus he is a very patient hitter he only swings at his pitch.

Ken didnt even test positive for steroids so what are you talking about?

Dont ever talk about something you know nothing about

  • @Oldcartoons571 Yeah, Bonds hit more HR's while Rickey's impact led to championships, evidenced by the two teams who rented his services mid season and went on to win world championships. Hey look, greatness=impact and I'm sorry but, I can make a stronger argument that Bonds' impact was more negative than it was positive, evidenced by the SF Giants having a BETTER record the year after Bonds left. The guy was a cancer. There's far more to baseball than hitting HR's.

  • @jrtress91 I'm a Rickey fan but don't play it like he walked into Oakland in 1989 and made them champions. That team went to the World Series the year before WITHOUT Rickey. And were it not for shaky pitching, they would've won. He walked into a literal all-star team in Toronto. So yes he helped. But both teams did very well even without him.

  • @Oldcartoons571 Rickey Henderson was the most unstoppable offensive force to ever play the game. Bonds was a post season BUST with the Pittsburgh Pirates who couldn't even throw out Sid Bream in game 7 of the '91 NLCS. He never won anything. If your gonna claim to be "the greatest of all time", you better have at least one ring to show for it otherwise your impact is null and void. A horrible leader. A horrible teammate. His game was nothing close to Rickey.

  • I dislike cheaters I dislike bonds i think he shouldn't be in the Hall but his numbers "before the juice" were HOF worthy. remember he won MVP in 90 92 and 93.

  • @jrtress91 wasn't their fault for being born in the "juice" era... I don't agree with Bonds denying steroid allegations, but he was a great player

  • @jrtress91 All great talents, and nice to see someone with enough baseball knowledge to show Eric Davis his due respect.

  • @jrtress91 Before I begin, let me point out I love Ricky, and I hate Barry Bonds. Sorry, but your statement makes no sense. How many players have been inducted in the 400-400 club? Oh ya, just one, and this was before "the juice" (or at least most people seem to agree it was before he juiced): Barry Bonds. As much as I love Ricky, if you think he is substantially better than a pre-juice Bonds I have news for you: I hate Bonds for what he did to the game, but he is one of the best of all time.

  • You're right Daytrade, the proof is in the pudding! Barry Bonds drew 27 unintentional, intentional walks and STILL couldn't bring home a championship, proving a theory that the most effective way to deal with Bonds was to walk him. I wonder why the Toronto Blue Jays and SF Giants didn't give Rickey Henderson the same treatment in the '89 post season. Point being, there was no way to avoid Rickey. You couldn't stop him. You could stop Bonds. THE PROOF IS IN THE PUDDING.

  • You obviously do not understand baseball as well as you think. The Giants lost to the Angels in game 7 because baseball is a TEAM game. His team lost to a better team but, that does not diminish his impact. Teams did not walk Rickey like that because A) he was a leadoff hitter and B) he was no where near the threat Barry was from the batters box. You call setting numerous postseason records being stopped. Yea ok.

  • The mets have hired him and Omar Minaya-- who stated that it took a lot of work to make the Ryan Church trade come to "frutition"-- yeah. Omar and Rickey are guys that I WOULD hire.

  • In the words of the great Charlie Murphy "that dude was mad niggrish yo."

  • In the words of the great Charlie Murphy "that dude was mad niggerish yo."

  • What a Douchenig! He needs to learn a little respect, Lou Brock was the shit!

  • I am a die hard A's fan and Rickey was just a fucking joy to watch. By far the most versital player of all time

  • If you look up and study Billy Hamilton you'lll find out he pretty much invented the leadoff position and his stats almost prove he was better than Rickey!

  • But he's not Rickey Henderson. lol

  • You are right they ALMOST prove he was better. How are you gonna talk stats on Rickey. He has the most impressive stats ever.

  • billy hamilton is not the greatest of all time.

  • you cant compare them, not just because its rickey henderson or whatever, but just because there was like 80 years separating their careers

  • My favorite baseball player all time! I remember when he played on the Oakland A's. I was playing small fry ball for the kids park league and I was on the A's team and our uniforms looked exactly like the Oakland A's uniforms. Ever since that was my team and I had everything Oakland A's.

  • is anybody ggoing 2 beat his record

    jimmy rollins

    jose reyes

    luis castillo is out

    juan pierre

    carl crawford

    ichiro could have

    b.j upton

    or another

  • granderson

  • thats rite huh thanks

  • I love Rickey...greatest leadoff hitter so far. But GREATEST OF ALL TIME goes to Willie Mays.

  • Rickey Henderson isn't even the greatest leadoff hitter of all time! My vote goes to the lesser known Billy Hamilton from the 1890's! He consistently led the league in walks, steals, and was a two time batting champ as well! He still has the record for runs in a season with close to 200! Go Beaneaters!

  • O and by the way no American Africans or hispanics were allowed to play that will boost stats better than any steroid and the fact that you have to go 100 years in the past is a little suspect (racist) and Bob Cousy was better than Micheal Jordan right i am not psychic but i bet you are a white middle aged white man who never hit a baseball in his life.

  • i love you ricky and you are one of the greatest of all time, but not THE greatest of all time. that is debatable.

  • Rickey Henderson has to do what is best for Rickey Henderson. Rickey Henderson is the only man capable of comprehending and disseminating and difficultating Rickey Henderson's mojo, called Rickey Henderson-Ojo. Rickey Henderson.

  • to be a Rickey Henderson for which Rickey Henderson's around us to speak through Rickey Henderson, to use Rickey Henderson as a vessel to reach all Rickey Henderson's out there in the world in a qualitative Rickey Henderson-esque magnanimous display of Rickey Henderson-tude and quality that you can find only in Rickey Henderson as Rickey Henderson is want to do for Rickey Henderson being Rickey Henderson as Rickey Henderson.....

  • LOL LOL....so true and maybe the funniest thing I've read all day

  • Brock was better all around!

  • Are you serious?

  • Lou Brock was not a better all around player than Rickey Henderson. Lou Brock isn't even in the same sentence as Rickey. Hey look, if you dont like Rickey that's fine but you make yourself sound foolish with comments like that.

  • I luv him

  • Ricky was amazing, yet kinda funny that if you said who belonged in the hall more 10 years ago, we'd be backing Mark McGwire the man who saved baseball, just a little bit more. The BCS, makes sense compared to the farce that is Cooperstown

  • this guy is a god!

  • RIckey Henderson is the greatest of all time!

  • i concur-bonds without steriods is like hendrix without drugs.

    Rickey over bonds any day

  • Like steroids hit the ball out of the park??? Steroids don't make hand eye coordination better, just give you better muscle recovery. He's a great, but not in the league as Barry.

  • so ur saying that barry is all natural, and without ateriods would put up the numbers he has now?

    hmm

    bullshit :/

  • Steroids turn pop flies and line drives into HOME RUNS.

I agree that Bonds was one of the best, but you cannot deny the asterisk. McGwire was one of my all time favorites, but I don't believe he belongs in the hall. He does get a lot of credit for bringing baseball back. He was an exciting and classy player. Too bad everyone used steroids.

  • Rickey Henderson had far more positive impact on a game than Bonds could ever dream of having which is exactly why Rickey is a greater player than Bonds. Greatness is what you do in baseball's biggest games. Just take a look at Bonds' post season numbers compared to Henderson and you'll have your answer. Even Barry Bonds himself knows he wasn't the player Rickey was, which plays into Bonds' bitter personality traits.

  • I agree with you 100 percent on Rickeys' numbers pre-1993. His speed, and skill were huge. At the same time, I think a couple of those guys batting behind him had alot to do with his his numbers ala late 80's Jose. Aside from post season it isn't even a contest. In all do respect that's like people talking about Babe Ruths' numbers when he was an overall talent facing guys that smoked 2 packs a day and were farmers on the pitchers mound.

  • Postseason pre93 I agree. However if you take late 80s' Rickey, who along with Jose, and Big Mac, were huge in those great A's teams. Individually however Bonds '02 postseason ranks among the best ever, and since '90 Bonds was arguably the best player ever. Whatever Barry put in his veins, doesn't matter since if you remember correctly take a look at those early 90's A's and they were more ripped then some NFL Players

  • Barry Bond's 2002 postseason ranks as one of the greatest of all-time. If you are talking Barry with the Pirates then I will give you that but, with the Giants it was completely different. Rickey Henderson is my favorite baseball player of all-time but, I am not going to short change Bonds in his favor.

  • Daytrade, NO. Rickey Henderson's 1989 postseason ranks far greater than Bonds' 2002 postseason considering Rickey led his team to a championship, something Bonds has NEVER done. I'm not going to short change Bonds. He was the biggest cancer to ever play the game. Barry put himself ahead of his team. Barry dictated when he played, how hard he played, and if the sun was out after a night game, Barry didn't play at all. So please don't tell me about Bonds' greatness.

  • That's Daytrader and I know numbers. So lets look at them since you are so pompous.

    Rickey Henderson 1989 (.441avg, 3HR, 8RBI, 11SB, 1.489OPS)

Barry Bonds 2002 (.365avg, 8HR, 16RBI[postseason record], 27BB [postseason record], 1.710OPS [postseason record]) He also had three walk-off which are also postseason records.

The proof is in the pudding. Baseball is a team sport and players are less measured by championships that football of basketball so Rickey winning is irrelevant.

  • Like I said statistically arguably the greatest post-season by any one player. Even Willie Mays and Reggie Jackson stated so last year at the legends game during the All-Star break.

  • You might know the numbers but you sure don't know championship caliber play. I was just curious, what statistical category do I look under in regards to game 1 of the '89 ALCS when Rickey made the key play in a 2-2 tie, breaking up a double play and forcing a throwing error that led to a 7-3 victory? Where do I find that "stat". How do I measure players like Canseco and McGwire sitting dead read on 1-2 fastballs because Rickey is on first base and the pitcher needs to get the ball out quickly.

  • Championship Play! Are you kidding me! The guy had three walk-offs in one post-season! Also, do not act Bonds was not making Jeff Kent get pitches to hit because he was behind him. Also, he was always on base too which got guys behind him pitches to hit.

  • First off, Rickey was the only thing of relevance to the '89 A's, get your facts straight. Secondly, the sport of football and basketball are ALSO team sports, so uh, what the hell are you talking about? My bad, I almost forgot I was talking to a delusional Barry Bonds nut hugger. There is no logic with you. The guy couldn't throw out Sid Bream from left field in game 7 of the '91 NLCS, he wasn't good enough, he knew it, so he cheated and he STILL didn't win a championship! LOL.

  • Only thing of relevance!? They had two of the hottest pitchers coming into the playoffs and one of the best lineups. Basketball is a team game but, one or two great can dominate a game and effect the outcome more than in baseball. In football schemes and individual players effect the game more too. Nut hugger? Dude please stop with the personal attacks. You do not know me. And my all-time favorite players are Rickey Henderson, Griffey Jr. and Lance Berkman but, I do not hate on Barry.

  • All I have done is give you sound logical facts yet you only make personal attacks. That says a lot about you.

  • There's more to being a great player than sticking a needle in your ass and hitting HR's. Intangibles. Let me ask you a question, how is it that the San Francisco Giants had a better overall record the year AFTER they dumped Bonds than the previous year with Bonds in the lineup? How? Because he was a chemistry killer. A cancer. Great players make the players around them better, that's what Rickey did as a lead off hitter. Bonds distanced himself from everyone.

  • Did you think of that one on your own. It is common knowledge (see the federal affidavit) that Bonds used the cream and clear from 2001 to 2003 and then he stopped. If we take away those numbers he is still statistically one of the three greatest players of all-time (Ruth and Mays). To say Bonds was simply a homerun hitter is showing a bit of ignorance on your part. Granted he is not high on the intangible list unless you count hitting behind Kent and making him an MVP as an intangible.

  • Oh and since you are talking about the Giants record lets look at those numbers as well. In the 35 years before Barry came to San Francisco the Giants won 1 pennant and went to the playoffs 3 times. After Barry over a 6 year period starting in 1997 they won a pennant, won 3 division tittles, a wild card berth and went to the playoffs 5 times. Since he left zero. I guess he had nothing to do with that success though since he did not make his team better.

  • You obviously do not like him personally so that is effecting your logic but, to discredit his impact on how a game would play out is foolish and makes you look like you do not know what you are talking about.

  • I have a question. If you take away those numbers from 2001 to 2003, who becomes the the all time leader in base on balls? More evidence that Bonds is a CHEAT and should give that record back to the guy who set it. You don't intentionally walk Rickey. I cant believe I'm even having this discussion. Hey Bonds nut hugger, go blow smoke up the Albert Pujols tree and keep that scum bag's name away from Rickey. You don't want this discussion. I will humiliate you.

  • I was at that game in Oakland against the Yankees in May 1991. During batting practice, I caught a ball hit into the left field stands. I believe it was hit by Jose Canseco.

  • he was a great player, but hes a conceited, cocky little 5 year old shit.

  • And considering he's one of the greatest baseball players of our generation not named Bonds or Griffey, he had damn good reason to be cocky.

  • If you were that fast and that fucking good then you would be the same damn thing

  • Saying Rickey Henderson is overrated is like saying the sky isn't blue. It's just wrong.

  • I'm no faggot but I heard he has a huge cock. Bigger than the average black.

  • Putting the "i'm no faggot" at the beginning of your comment doesn't make it any less gay! Why the fuck would you post something like that unless you wanted people to think you were gay?!

  • Just because I wonder if he has a huge cock doesn't make me gay. I'm way into women.

  • You gotta love Rickey....

  • Lou Brock was what ? I have no idea what he said. Thank ya

  • this guy was overrated

  • You've never watched baseball, have you?

  • overrated? dude, you can't be serious. watching him steal bases was like watching barry sanders rush for a touchdown or watching michael jordan slam dunk. his numbers are impressive, plus he did the little things that don't show up on stat sheets.

    81 career lead off homers (1st all-time)

    2,295 runs scored (1st all-time)

    1,406 stolen bases (1st all-time)

    130 steals in one season (1st all-time)

    3,055 hits

not mention his gold glove, league mvp award, etc.

  • what are u smokeing...if u say ricky henderson was overrated our just a dumbass

  • if he was so great, then why did 5% not vote for him

  • because baseball voters are out of touch with reality

  • u want to know why because a lot of jackass voters think that just because babe ruth and wille mays did not get 100% of the vote that no one should thats the only reason 5% did not vote for him because thers no real argrument against not voteing for him

  • i see, how much percent did willie mays, and babe ruth get

  • wille mays and babe ruth both got about 95% of hall of fame votes still belive ricky henderson overated

  • no i don't he s a great player

  • It ain't bragging when it's true.

  • im thinking ricky will go into the hall of fame as an Oakland A

  • got on base more than barry bonds, babe ruth, ted williams, and anyone else you wanna name IN HISTORY..HES #1 LOOK IT UP

  • there were many who got more than those you named. rickey had the most tools used by a player in history but you can't say overall. he'd be in the top20. you must be from newyork or oakland.
