  • My mother's family originated in North Vietnam, my father from the South. My mother's great-grandparents fled the North and entered the South to find peace, but they did not find any peace. Instead, my mother fled Vietnam with her family to the United States and met my father who fled Vietnam under constant gunfire. I have been raised in the

U.S.I would much love to have Vietnam rid itself of communism, but that might not happen too soon. I would love to visit Vietnam one day..

  • ....vietnaese national anthem sounds so ...military -> -.-

  • forever!vietnam!

  • long live great Communist Vietnam!

  • It is ashamed that vietnamese people have to hate each other. The war is over and the north is proven worthy of this great country. The southerners must get use to this like the confederates. America can't always help us. We must help ourselves and liberate from dictatorship( if ever happen ) and self hate.

  • That's not true. We don't hate each other. The southerners hate us. I can't understand why, but I had a very hard discussion with some southerners a year ago. They built their own community, they seclude themselves. Actually it is more than stupid. I want to live together without people causing a lot of trouble.

  • Great video. Great country.

  • Viet Nam TIEN LEN!

  • Dude, what's your problem?

  • Child, live ur fucking life!

  • The North adopted the socialist system, and following Maoist policies a brutal land reform was carried out. Although Ho was opposed to the worst excesses, an estimated 50,000 people died and about 50,000-100,000 were imprisoned (from Le livre noir du communisme, by Stéphane Courtois et. al, 1997). Freedom of speech was restricted. From 1959 arms and guerrillas moved down the Ho Chi Minh Trail into the south...

  • Freedom of speech from what? What the hell are you talking about you idiot? What would you want to speak out at that time? "Fuck Viet Nam, Hail America"? I'd volunteer to kill your ass myself.

  • Yeuquehuong Soviet, did you know what freedoms HoChiMinh promised but he did not practiced ?

  • Yeuquehuong Sovie!

William J. Duiker (HoChiMinh 2000) claims in his biography on Ho Chi Minh, that Ho married twice, and in Hanoi he fathered a child.

  • DHL1958: So what if Ho married twice and fathered a child? That only made him more human and manly. Unlike the asexual, pathetic recluse Ngo Dinh Diem or the sex-fiend Bao Dai, your heroes...

  • Tom3605: Bao Dai should not be a VN king, NDD should a priest, and HCM was a "#?@#" but in human form. Btw, None of them was my hero.

  • STFU you Chinaman lover. Ngo Dinh Diem was a 100% Mandarin Chinaman. Dao Dai forced his army to stop the Viet Minh under the colonial gay yellow flag you dirty vichoco are always waving. Animals, I wish I could turn back time and put these animals back in their barn with no literacy, food nor humanity.

  • Under Hochiminh's leadership, who would say this:

Our people are resolved to strengthen further solidarity and unity of mind with the brother countries in the socialist camp headed by the great Soviet Union and to strengthen solidarity with the peoples of Asia and Africa and peace loving people all over the world.

  • DHL1958: So what's wrong with that statement? Politicians have always made statements in support of their allies and friends. Under the old Saigon regime, there used to be a sign at the entrance to Tan Son Nhut Airport thanking "allied soldiers" for coming to fight for "freedom". I guess killing and maiming unarmed Vietnamese civilians deserved many thanks?

  • I love vietnam!

  • HOANG SA, TRUONG SA islands never ever belong to china ! Those islands belong to VIETNAM forever ! chinese doesn't respect international law let's boycott chinese goods ! down with greedy chinese invaders ! Salute to VIETNAMESE PATRIOTS

  • Glory to Vietnam and China. Glory to Deng Xiaoping. Vietnam needs someone like him to put everything in order. This anthem is soooo beautiful.

  • It's your opinion, V1etCong but you should know the history of the song you quoted. Tieng Goi Thanh Nien (A Call to Youth) is a great song by Luu Huu Phuoc and he wrote it in the early 1940's as a revolutionary anthem, appealing to the youth of Vietnam to rise up against the Japanese and the French. It was not written for the Bao Dai regime that hijacked the song and made it into the national anthem of the puppet, French-created "State of Vietnam" in 1949.

  • The successive American-sponsored Soth Vietnamese regimes kept it as their anthem but it is now just a memory. The national anthem of Vietnam that's played all over the world at state ceremonies is Tien Quan Ca, the song that's sung in this video.

  • That's right!

The flag liked a version of China's. The symbol of VN communists who followed Soviet's order and accidentally killed their own people.

  • DHL1958: The red flag with a large gold star in the center of Vietnam was adopted in 1945. The red flag with five smaller gold stars at the upper left hand corner of China was not adaopted until 1949. Therefore, it's more correct to say the Chinese flag is a version of the Vietnamese flag.

  • DHL1958 (continued):Whether socialist Vietnam "took order" from the Soviets is a matter of historical debate. What we know for certain is that the Saigon government was a creation of the US and collapsed as soon as the US reduced its support. The Hanoi government is still in existence even after the total collapse of the Soviet Union and a war against China in 1979.

  • DHL1958 (continued) As for who killed the largest number of Vietnamese, that distinction belongs to the United States. The US directly or indirectly killed at least 2 million Vietnamese and mained many more. Many Americans proudly admitted that figure as a mark of military "victory".

  • Tom3605: If the (poor) North VN did not invaded the (rich) South VN and stayed at its post, 2 million North vietnamese and 1million South vietnamese would be killed. The US lost their battle at their own land, and absolutely not due to the fighting with VC. The US only lost 50 thousand vs North VN lost 2 millions. It's not a milliarty "victory"!

  • DHL1958: You just proved my point, son. You're so proud that your masters, the US, lost only 50 thousand while killing over 2 million Vietnamese.

  • Tom3605: Please don't twist my word. I said 2million "NORTH" vietnamese being killed because of their invasion. Two million communist' army had been killed not only by US force but also VNCH's force. That was the fact!

  • Tom3605: It's same thing if the Soviet or international communist reduced their supports, then HaNoi would absolutely be collapsed. Until now, what the world know for certain is that Soviet and US both used the VN as their battle field, Capitalism vs Communism, and Vietnam goverment today again is a copy of China's regime liked VN's flag is a version of China's.

  • Tom3605: For a simple fact, why do you have to twist the histories? Vietnam's flag was adopted by North Vietnam on November 30, 1955; it was adopted in what had been South Vietnam on July 3, 1976 after the fall of Saigon. China was officially adopted on October 1, 1949.

  • DHL1858: The red flag with a single gold star in the center has been used since 1945. In 1955, the shape of the star was changed slightly but the flag was essentially the same. Throughout the fight against the French in 1946-1954, the red flag was used throughout the resistance areas in both North and South.

  • DHL1958 (continued): If you looked at the photos of the August Revolution in Hanoi, Hue and Saigon (1945) and the Declaration of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam on Sept. 2 of 1945 in Hanoi, you'd see the flags in evidence. Son, you are some ignorant little sap. Eat some more hamburgers and drink some more Coke and discuss Hilary vs. Barrack or Huckabee vs. Romney and leave Vietnamese politics to those who really care about Vietnam.

  • tom3605: The fact that The VN socialist always copies the China's. Let go to libary and do some study about China's and VN's revolutionary histories, then you would see that you're in the denial state. I am really interest in the world history and hate to see the history being twisted by someone playing a dirty politic.

  • "The fact that The VN socialist always copies the China's." - "hate to see the history being twisted". DHL1958 you are a funny ignorant hypocrite. First of all Viet Nam is more of a Marxist influence than a Maoist. Secondly the red flag was used to retaliate against the French for centuries. Viet Nam copy China? Viet Nam has more from Korea influence than China. You know shit about Viet Nam son.

  • Do you know what was happened in the socialist camp and Hochiminh before 1959 and after that year ?

  • Yeuquehuong Soviet-Mao & Stalin followed Marx-Leninist and HO followed Maoist & Stalinist. Do you know after 1959, North Korea did some favors for Soviet or China ? and you need to make sure that the VN history books you've learn should not be written by the communists because those contained a political "BIAS" information.

  • Tom3605: Again, why do you have to twist the histories? The old version of the red flag used between 1945-1955 was for the revolutionary of Vietminh and for China PLA used their old version of their flag since August 1927. The VN flag still is a copy of the China's flag.
