  • I'm looking 4 the 1 with JOHNNY DEPP!

  • Not a very good version. Course any movie they make for you younger generation seems to lack.

  • Should be the legend of Slippery Hollow.

  • I used to watch this when it came on wen I was a kid. The scariest part was always when they cut to commercial. It would show this lonely wood cabin in the snow and a ghost would moan. Scared the bejeezes out of me.

BTW, why is there snow on the ground and bare trees in October?

  • i used to ownt his on vhs...god i love jeff

  • brom bones cant do simple math..1/2, 1/2 AND 2/3's!

  • My God Jeff certainly was skinny enough for the part back then, wasn't he? I never noticed how scrawny his legs were before. LOL

  • My first introduction to Jeff Goldblum, and how I always identify him when I hear his name, Ichabod Crane. Though I never got why in this version Ichabod was so skeptical and didn't believe in anything when originally and in most other versions he was a VERY superstitious fellow. But I love this version, it's a favorite of mine!

  • Dick Buttkus? Were his parents like let's name our kid something like "Dick'n'butt". W T F

And Goldblum? He's one of my faves, didn't know he tried on the ol' Ichabod shoes. Also a fan of the Sleepy Hollow Legend.

Yet somehow this seems like the perfect storm of shit. And part 1/10? it's that long? Less is more when it comes to Goldblum & Sleepy Hollow, just give us some quick back story and cut to the (Horsemen) chase. GAWD u gys...

  • I'm trying to transfer a VHS to DVD...but the VHS is not working. where did you download this movie?

  • Goldblum was born to play this part

  • I've never seen this one.

  • How come the kids sound like the tykes of the 1950s? This is from the 80s, isn't it?

  • why would anyone think this was going to be the tim burton version when its called "the legend of sleepy hollow" and the tim burton one is just called "sleepy hollow" and there was no snow in that one.

  • @burtonrules123 Actually, half the movie takes place in the snow.

  • I have this movie. My mom let me get it.

  • thats the guy who was trapped on an island with a bunch of dinosaurs

  • I wish this was on DVD. I used to see it on cable all the time when I was a kid in the '80s and always loved it.

  • I'm so glad to see this one. I liked the new one, but this is the version I grew up with. We used to check out the video from a tiny little video store near our house.

  • i can totally tell this isnt jeff's natural voice...this voice makes him 30x sexier than he usually is tho... :)

  • awww man... when i clicked on this, i thought it was the tim burton version.

  • 9:54 now this is where it gets interesting and why we came here!!!!:D:D

  • Hey, it's Mr.Woodman!

  • Is there any horror or blood or anything in this one?

  • where can i find the newer one?

  • I just do love this movie. I have it too. I like when Jeff Goldblum was on his house after the party was over. He stop at when the tree branch was in front of him and he told his horse go gun powder go go oh god oh god please help. That was my favorite part.

  • If you notice neither the beginning or ending credits state any of the main characters names. Strange.

  • /watch?v=g0XLKcMoXRE

  • I'm 25, and also grew up watching this every Halloween. Thanks for adding!

  • Man he is HAWTT!!

  • I'm so tired I'm crying.

  • I love the line from this part of the movie:

"Might not be safe. Watch for the ice under that snow."

"Sir, we Connecticut Yankees are born to ice and snow."

  • WHOA!! I remember watching this as a kid way back in the day. This brings back a lot of Halloween memories. Thanks for posting this!!

  • oh thanks!!! I've always wanted to see this version.

  • Wow, that old man really wants Ichabod to get married.

  • One of the better movie versions,

  • The Legend of Sleepy Hollow (1980), directed by Henning Schellerup. A made-for-television movie filmed in Utah, starring Jeff Goldblum as Ichabod Crane, Meg Foster as Katrina, and Dick Butkus as Brom Bones.

    =)

  • Lol even in his younger days he was a cool actor. he's so lean ❤

  • That Spanish/Puerto Rican burly hunk in the beginning riding on the horse wagon with his smart friend:

They see someone in need of assistance, but instead of bringing him up so that they could all just move along, they decide to deride him. People make good company when they help each other out. Instead of teasing Crane, they should've simply helped chase away the dogs and ask what his business was in those parts. They could've gone for a drink or something afterwards. Trade instead of fight.

  • @Antwortete1 that guy is Jewish

  • i thougt this was sleepy hollow from tim burton, with jonny depp.

    need to watch it!!!

  • I remember seeing this on TV when I was 8 or 9. I loved the Headless Horseman and even then was kind of let down by this version. When your bad guy is played by Dick Butkus... you've got a problem. Poor Jeff. Glorious chaos.

  • Jeff Goldblum's fineest hour, who says he is a character actor only

  • Whoever did the casting for this movie deserves a huge pat on the back. Excellent choices, especially Jeff Goldblum and Meg Foster. I could picture them being in love in real life.

  • meg foster scary but cool eyes!!! always remembered her for that!

  • AWESOME!!!! When I was a child we would watch this movie every halloween along with Dark night of the scarecrow. THANKS for posting this classic!

  • Jeff Goldblum back in the day! This is so freaking cool, i didn't know he was in this! Even the music style is old!

  • Very old and very beautiful movie. This is the most closely to book adaptation but not perfectly good. Many things was changed but i love this american culture old acent!

  • Incidentally, everyone who loves this story needs to check out the Hallmark version. Really great one!

  • I've wanted to see this forever! Thanks for posting!

  • ahhhh odi na wikipedia i utipkaj to,mozda nesto nades :)

al mozes i downloadirat sa piratebay xD

  • this is the best tv adaptation of the short story. Jeff Goldblum was in 2 other great films, Buckaroo Banzai and the Right Stuff. this came out in 1979, though imdb incorrectly states 1980

  • Jeff Goldblum was so cute back then. Actually, I still think so, but I'm married, so... But what a perfect choice for Ichabod! I love both this version and the Tim burton one!

  • I have a vivid memory of seeing this as a kid, right after trick-or-treating on Halloween night. It's still my favorite adaptation of the story apart from the Disney one.

Jeff Goldblum was born to play Ichabod Crane.

  • i want the tim burton version not this crappy one.

  • I LOVE the Tim Burton one, but this one is great too! Don't knock it till you try it!

  • this Katrina girl is too hot.

  • I remember this, what year was it?

  • 1980..

  • 1999

  • lmao, dick butkus is a fucking beast on and off the football field

  • My parents taped this off tv a LONG time ago. My sister and I used to watch this every Halloween! It is so good!

  • @mjaddison the ending was alot cooler then the ending Washington wrote Why couldn't he write it that way.

also I hope someone re makes the Legen of Sleepy Hollow the way Washington Irving wrote it.

  • XXXjonasluvr4everXXX-

just came up with a version other than Hallmark's "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow"-

"Shelly Duvall's Tall Tales and Legends

    The Legend of Sleepy Hollow."

hope this helps in your search :)

  • Hallmark Channel has an adaptation of Washington Irving's "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow." It has been some time since they've aired it- can't remember if their headless horseman is able or unable to cross the bridge. But, maybe Hallmark's version is the one you're thinking of. (?) :)

  • he can't cross the bridge

  • is there another one like this with the headless horseman and the bridge where the headless horseman cant cross the bridge to get anyone and theres like i halloween party with a hay ride? anyone have any idea what its called plz tell me i cant remember the name of it.

  • i think thats the disney one hope this helps.

  • no i know its not the disney one because there not cartoons there actual people and everything

  • Is it just me or does Goldblum look the part perfectly? Tall, skinny, not the most handsome but incredibly charming. He's the best. :)

  • Yayyy!! I remember this used to air every year on Halloween when I was little! I used to watch it when I got back from trick or treating! Think I last saw it around 87 or 88 maybe....shame it's not shown anymore. Thank you so much for uploading this and bringing back fabulous childhood memories!

  • Holy crap, I thought I'd never find this! I've been looking for it because I used to watch this when I was a kid. I'm definitly in the Halloween mood now. Thanks so much!

  • Wish this was on DVD. Always looked forward to seeing it on cable as a kid in the 80s.

  • yeah tell me about it, the "official" video is in just as bad quality as my recorded version, just about the same lol! needs the dvd treatment but i doubt its popular enough to get it.

  • Hey whatta ya know its... Dick Butkus, Jeff Goldblum and Ross from Friends

  • @GreyGhostly LOL its not ross from friends, but he does kinda look like him haha

  • Thank you soooo much i saw this as a small child, and i haven't been able to find it for sale. Thanks again

  • I love this film and my cousin is so scared of it

  • I HAVEN'T SEEN THIS SINCE I WAS A KID!

  • I have searched for this film for YEARS. Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!

  • Fritz should be able to handle those two morons. After all, he has experience with sweathogs

  • Thanks so much!! This is not available ANYWHERE. And my dad taped over my version with the 1991 Superbowl :(

  • I know how you feel. My Uncle wiped my tape of Voyager's final episode + Cal Ripken Jr's last game because he didn't know how to use his VCR.

  • OMG IM SO HAPPY SOMEONE PUT THIS ON YUTUBE!!!!!!! im only 22 but i actually grew up watching this on video, my mom always loved this and she recorded it on VHS in the 80's before i was born and she put it on for me when i was a kid and i just loved this. jeff goldbloom was soo young here, and he was a perfect fit for ichabod crane! and the principal from walcome back kotter as fritz was brilliant too! so funny!

  • @burtonrules123 that johnny depp

  • haha i watched this back in jr.high

  • squee! its Jeff Goldblum! lol i have this on viedo :)

  • A real classic :)

  • Boy, he was skinny. And why does Brom talk like a wild west cowpoke? I thought that this took place in a Dutch settlement...

  • my thanks go out ot you sir for posting this gem! i thought it was lost forever!

  • This is Made For TV, 1980 at the latest

  • actually i think 1979 was what it said at the end credits. cant believe how old this is!

  • Informed people in -the-know tell me that the film's budget was $999.00 all included, and they finished the filming with $20.78 left over ice cream treats for the cast!

  • wow, where did you get that info? and thats great that it didnt have a huge budget, no ultra fake sets or anything! you can tell that it actually looks very true to the time as well, and they were REALLY outddoors and it just feels very real, you can see there breath when they talk outside, they look at times a bit sniffly, and they look blue in the lips sometimes, must have been very cold! where was this filmed BTW?

  • Usually I go to wikipedia or another source online

  • jeff goldblumes voice just doesnt match the role. possibley if i had seen this before all his 90s movie roles..

  • i can't BELIEVE somebody posted this! I thought i was the only person who even REMEMBERED that it existed!

Most impressive, sir. My thanks to you.

  • is this movie old how old ?

  • 10 years old

  • hmm, this looks almost like its done in the 70s :S

  • what is it rated?

  • @SashalovesErik I'm not sure if it's even rated. But, if I had to guess what it should be rated, I'd go with PG. Hope that helps.

  • no this is the old one type in sleepy hollow part 1 johnny depp

  • is this the latest sllepy hollow of 1999 which talks about the headless horseman ?????

is there another with jonny dep?????

  • I just love this story and I have never seen this version and Jeff Goldblum is a brilliant actor!

    Thank you for sharing!

  • Jeff Goldblum as Ichabod Crane. What a perfect choice.

  • MANBEARCAT!

  • BUTKIS!!! lol

  • I remember Disney's Katrina and Tim Burton's Katrina being nicer than this one.

  • I just caught a mistake, watching it again. Ichabod calls Fred by his last name, Mr. Dutcher. The mistake is his last name was not used yet and Ichabod never met him before. Brom never used Fred's last name...or maybe he did and I just didn't hear it.

  • It's a good movie, but what I don't get is why they chose to film this in Utah. It looks nothing like upstate New York. It would have been more realistic had they filmed it somewhere in upstate New York (not actually Sleepy Hollow) in some secluded areas away from modern people. Still, that aside, it's a good movie anyway.

  • I think it was cheaper for them to film it there.

  • when was this movie made? i want to know cuz it is awesome!

  • 1999

  • The movie aired on October 31, 1980.

It was filmed in Utah! LOL

  • Brom's gay little sidekick needs an old fashioned Three Stooges eye-poking.

  • haha yeah my mom hates that guy. i have also seen him in teenwolf.
