  • Fabulous work! You are painting in the style that I aspire to. Thank you so much for the inspiration. Brava!

  • mind=blown

  • Beautiful work

  • how did you do the leaves?

Id like to try a picture like this but i cant do leaves, please help!

  • Veramente brava. Complimenti.

  • I would prefer that you speak about what you are doing and thinking rather than music. I can choose my own music. You are thinking constantly about your choices. Share this with us! I can't tell when the paper is wet or dry, for example. I can't see you mix colors or load the brush either. You could talk about all these choices and techniques.

  • Were you painting from a photo, because it seems like you understood the details of the owl so well?

  • What brand paper and paints are you using? May I ask the colors? Is that a vandyke brown or an umber and also is that a sap green or a mixed green you made yourself. I was playing a game while watching your video, trying to figure the colors out. Also is that a rose madder or alizaron crimson. Thank you so much, and I agree, what a painting and technique!

  • Your painting is incredible!

  • please use real time!!!! the video and your art is too good for time lapse and music over it!!!

  • if i may ask, how much time did it take?

    btw, no words, awesome work!!!

  • I don't know... the more accurate name for the video would be "watercolor DRAWING". You're a great draftsman though

  • It's so very lovely; I think this may be my favorite painting of all times C:

  • wow! How do you add lighting to the dark colours? Do you wait for it to dry first?

  • Overall how long did it take to complete the work, start to finish?

  • Wow, your stunning & delicate work inspires, thank you!

  • Beautiful in a terrifing/fascinating kind of way. Just thinking about trying to paint the detail makes my eyes cross and head hurt. AMAZING.

  • Tracy, what magnificent control in watercolor. What brush type and size are you using please?

  • Many thanks for all the comments.

@LoraleiSuzanne - the brushes I used here were kolinsky sables (series 33) by Rosemary and co and range in size from 3 to 10/0. Hope that helps.

"lapommepourrie - the music id symphony 40 by mozart, but sorry I don't know anymore about this version, it was available to add through youtube.

  • Beautiful! I wish I could paint like that.

  • this must have taken u along time---tiny details which are amazing

  • Fabulous details and great work.

  • magnifico trabalho

  • Wow, I'm trying to resist the urge to go dig my watercolors out again! How inspiring. Super job. Ok, urge resisted, I think I will stick to acrylics! I have a lot of trouble with watercolors misbehaving, I see that you do not have that trouble at all. Super job, thanks for taking the time and effort to make this video. Will certainly go in my favorites.

  • beautiful...learned alot from watching you paint...thank you

  • This is incredible Tracy! i agree with airscrew1, this is by far the best watercolour painting i've ever seen. Hope to see more soon. b

  • Thanks so much everyone for your comments. I'm really pleased you enjoyed the video so much. Hopefully I will be able to do another one soon...just a matter of finding the time as they seem to take me longer than the paintings!

  • Wow amazing artwork such detail, I love it especially as I have a thing about owls. Keep up the good work

  • That is mindblowing Tracy. Most watercolourists do very simplistic paintings but this Owl is very detailed. How long would you have spent on this?

  • Wow, Thats beautiful Tracy!

I had no idea you could get that much fine detail with Watercolour.

  • Hi - its white watercolour (titanium). I add it to the mix to make it opaque for fine hairs (or feathers!). I expect gouache would work much the same though. Thanks again for your nice comments and I hope that helps.

  • Hi tracy. Just wondering if you also use gouche. You were using a white paint on the outline of the owl to make it look more fluffy:) Love your work.
