  • thats a good working record player you use, what kind is it?,

  • @nicolaj0154 It's a Technics SL-D2 modified so it plays 78's as well as 33 & 45.

  • @Vintagetvs how did it get modified?,

  • @nicolaj0154 It's a very simple Mod, just one resistor is added, if you want to be able to play all three speeds then a switch is added also which I did, discreetly on the lower front panel.

You also need a Strobe disc to set the speed since there is no 78 Strobe on the table.

If I can find the instructions for the mod I'll be happy to send it to you.

  • @Vintagetvs sure thing,

  • wonder how it got recorded too fast? did the home recorders have a pitch control?

  • @chompo7

I listened to the wav file with Soundforge and it's apparent they did record this at a slower speed to make it sound sped up when played back normally. 45 RPM is too slow and if the recording machine dates back to 1947 or earlier it wouldn't have anything but 78 RPM anyway.

Possibly the recorder was malfunctioning but the fact that it was a "Funny" record makes me think it was done deliberately.

    It's about 15-20% slow.

  • yes yes yes yes cool

    a little faster
