@ashoka22 of course they arent. that would mean hes throwin 400 over his head like its nothin. not even the best super heavy weight oly lifters can do that, and they are the kings of overhead strength
Let's keep this simple are you a big lifter ? My guess is you like to talk about training and weights but in reality your unable to take your theories and turn them into actual results in the gym . If you can't turn your theories into actual big lifts why would we give your theories the time of day ? So it's simple either post a vid of your big lifts or except that you know very little about developing raw strength.
Jamesflames or James flaming annoying u talk a about what your dad did but what can u do ??????????? other than come across as a complete ass. I'm willing to bet you have the raw power of a small family pet. But hay atleast you can talk about big lifts LOL
@jamesflames75 Yea! so how long you been into fitness?I add a bit of plyometric also! im working on a few project.one is for the bar/extreme fitness community and streetboxing. so i be adding strength, speed, agility, cardio and balance in my training.
@jamesflames75 okay. due to the limited space in the comment box i will try to explain MY methods of developing speed and strength mainly in the deadlift since its the easiest. for my back workout day i usually start off with a brute strength movement like a shortend range of motion deadlift. seeing as the full dead with heavy weight taxes the nerves i do the movement from shin level in the rack because i am tall. i usually go between 6-700 pounds for that until it becomes slow. then move to
@jamesflames75 well first since i was the one who posted the original comment, you slap a video up of you doing your thing and proving me wrong seeing as how you have none, and i will post an updated video of me hitting elite lifts and my next strongman competition is in 2 weeks. when is yours?
@hellomynameis151 no, it literally means to visualize throwing it through the roof... you ever try to bench press a heavy load going slow? plyometrics is the key to super strength.
Lmao at the people questioning the fact that Felix has a coach. The same reason why every single great athlete has a coach. Because some people have more experience and can see what we are doing wrong from different angles. A football team is full of guys that know how to play football, that doesnt mean they can develop the best strategy by themselves. And oly lifter or powerlifter may not realize his is pulling from way too behind or that he is not using enough of this or that. We all need help
Felix trains at Adlington Barbell Club, which that "skinny old guy" Alan Fairclough opened in 1957 and he use to be a olympic lifter himself...so he knows a thing or two. Always remember, as a athlete or person for that matter, you need to question yourself and what you are doing at all times, it's how you improve as a athlete and person.
@nazworkshop you can't see what you're doing when you're doing it, a coach can. that old guy probably has about 50 years of training experience behind him. just cause he's skinny now doesn't mean he's always been.
this video is fucking awesome. the old coach is fucking genius and entertaining, wish I had him as a coach. "you gotta just bang it! just fuckin throw it through the roof!!!' lol, hes getting all into it about to bust a nut.
This vid is awesome. Beautiful example of wisdom and strength. Reminds me of Aristotle lecturing Alexander the Great. A lot of kids learn poor technique because they only listen to meat heads that dont know what they're talking about. A wise teacher cannot be replaced.
Felix competes in strongman. Remember the press they do in strongman is actually a push press. Thats why the coach is saying "I don't want you pressing", meaning that he wants Felix to use his arms as much as he can so he can keep more energy. The weight used is heavy but its also about who can get more reps.
from my experience bench will fluxtuate...but overhead shoulder strength stays man...I havent done it in awhile then i tried it a couple weeks ago...but i can max press 245 once...i weigh 203...started at under 135 you just have to be careful when doing such savage exercises
If you look at Felix's lockout its obvious he is not comfortable in that position. No matter how hard he tries he really is not achieving a full lock out. This is indicative of a tight infraspinatus, long head of tricep and teres muscles group. He needs soft tissue work and stretching in those areas. Guarantee that will help greatly.
take a look at this video. See how comfortable the lifter is in full extension, how smoothly he enters that phase. Contrast it with felix and you can see felix clearly does not have adequate flexibility to perform the movement correctly. No amount of coaching will fix this, only soft tissue work and stretching in those areas.
why does everyone feel like they have to comment on bad form, etc on these types of videos? that dude thats teaching him is as old as the hills so he probable knows what he is on about!
This is technically a push press,I'm not sure how much that actually matters to mark, his coach & anybody here though. It also looks as if he needs to lock out fully at the top. I'm not bad mouthing though, just constructive criticism.
Are you serious? Why would he not lock out in training? Apart from the fact it only takes a little more effort from the triceps it's also teaching bad habit for strong man & competitions alike, even though they're not too strict with the rules, basically it's not finishing a lift.

wow this is the first time ive seen marks new coach. i heard that he is shit cause he has never experienced a strongman lift . but dam he does know what he is talking about . good work mark 10/10
dont know who thinks the coach is shit cause at the club there are people lifting 400 over there head but the coach did 380 over his head 40 years ago the coach is 73
Just to set the record straight, the coach has experience in all areas of strength work, including strongman, there is in fact a photo on the gym wall of him doing an axel lift sometime in the late 50's. End of the day the guys he coaches improve no matter what their field, speaks for itself really...
This video was posted december 2007, over 4 months have passed and alans coaching ability is plain to see in the way Mark does overhead work at the moment.
Results speak for themselves, like andylittler said Mark is not the only top level strength athlete that trains at Adlington and gets coaching from the man.
Show a bit of respect hey mate. That old fella pressed 142K C&J 175K and did a front sqt of 227K @90K 40 years ago. The lifters he has produced have turned out press 145K snatch 145K C&J 182K sqt 372K bench 260K dead 400K to say the least. He has been turning out top level lifters across all disciplines for 50 years. Either take a backward step and a deep breath or come out from the safety of your keyboard and down to HIS gym and tell him where to stand in person. Mon, Wed or Fri. I dare you :)
Clegg=OL/PL. Felix=SM. Completely different things. They both know that. Are you sure Mark Clegg is your brother? He has a PB dead of 292 done last week, and as for injury... utter rubbish. He's in the form of his life. In the last couple of weeks I've seen him sqt 300 bench 180 and dead 290 first hand. He also push jerked 210 last week. No sign of any injury. Hmmmmmmmmm?????
I like Marius but I honestly think Mark Felix is stronger, he just needs the technique down and he can be world champion, he also needs to be more aggressive at the bar, he is such a nice guy and always smiling, what a guy.
Mark Felix could be a contender for marius's crowm, shame he didnt get into strong man earlier age might beat him.Great athlete got all the right tools to be a champ..

@jamesflames75 Cool! I been training for over 22 years now.I went through my trial&error in fitness training.
I will have me some innovative bodyweight exercise's, that I created upload on here this summer.
It does start with the foundation building of your strength.Plyos just a good additions to help build that explosiveness that you need.

IronWolverine1973 8 months ago
@jamesflames75 Plyometrics are the element to train explosiveness and strengthen tendons and ligaments.
Strenght in another hand...You build that from heavy weight and low reps of 1 to 5 .James you do know what you talking about.
