  • There's something inside me that takes my breathe away now..wonderful

  • /watch?v=K29CDmKebeQ

  • This is so beautiful... Damn.

  • the mellow, softer version of Threads.

  • @DarkApostleMatt the person/..bird would hafta be really strong..

  • I think one would fly much better with leather wings..

  • @buttons139 too heavy...

  • I can't say I think they're better than Explosions in the Sky, because as you all have so perfectly pointed out they are different. If they are so different you can relate them to each other then you can't really say one is better than the other. More like, you like one band's type of music better. So...I disagree. They're both fantastic :D

  • makes me think of lovedrug and a perfect circle

  • I love all of This Will Destroy You's music, but something about this one song is just so beautifully powerful.

The beginning of this song is melancholic yet nostalgic and reminds me of all the good times long ago while it slowly builds in intensity until 2:32 where it just makes realize how truly great life is. Very few songs have that cathartic effect on me.

This band is living proof that music doesn't need lyrics to be incredible & timeless.

  • @TheDBelanger I completely agree with you. I never tire of listening to this song. Its bittersweet melancholy is haunting...

  • Shhhh, stop comparing bands, and just enjoy the greatness.

  • 4 people hear this music, but they don't open their minds and listen.

  • @Bluman325

    Or are just faggots.

  • @Bluman325 People aren't interested in 'music' anymore. They are interested in how cool or attractive the lead singer is. And TWDY don't even have a singer, so haters gonna hate. It's a shame though, this song is so beautiful

  • Me personally loves both bands and listen the shit out of both, so who cares

  • It doesn't matter which band is better, you are all entitled to your opinions

  • I dont know why there cant just be more than one band instead trying to care which band is better

  • So... boring... falling... asleep

  • @Jazzy459 Boring?... Really? Either you have a horrible vocabulary, or you need to start listening into the music, and not just have it playing in the background.

  • Guys, who cares which band is better? They both have amazing music, hang out, smoke a bowl, and enjoy it!

  • @DeathSlice420 bang on!!

  • What a silly argument.

    I like EITS more.

And, funnily, I have found that everyone I know who is right agrees with me :)

  • Does this not help you escape reality and just love? or is it just me. TWDY is chillingly amazing.

  • @sk8boardboy69 Agreed. Not to sound cliche or anything, but I never imagined I would find a band that made me feel so much when listening to a song of theirs.

  • I don't think that TWDY is better than EITS so I disagree with @rhien23 but I think they are both good in their own way...I love both...I came to TWDY because of EITS (discovered from Pandora) and I found I love it just as much. They are BOTH amazing...please don't be dissing EITS...because I love it just as much <3 ty.

  • I've never heard of explosions in the sky, but I think TWDY sounds a bit like the instrumental parts of some of As Cities Burn's songs. Especially on their album, "come now sleep."

  • I'll never be the same.

  • Explosions In The Sky is balls. I masturbate and cry to EITS. I bury prostitues in the forest whilst listening to TWDY.

  • @rhien23 Best thing I've heard since 'Nam.

  • @Crimson357Z LOL

  • @rhien23 *nods in agreement*

  • Oh my gosh, heard this on Pandora yesterday and fell in love with it. Reminds me of a girl of my dreams.

  • Just because a bad is unique does not make them "better". It just makes them Unique. Herp derp?

  • i cant help but love the irony of the title; makes me think of flying cows... graceful ones haha

killer music!!! it has destroyed my need for a radio

  • I fucking love the drums

  • how symbolic those tress are;

they grew together over time to form one better overall structure - much like a marriage should be; the two people [although different], work together to intertwine themselves into each other over years & years, until, finally, one day, they both sit equally & together in a beautiful form that neither could have accomplished without the other.

idk if that was the intent of the picture, but, thats what i gathered from it; & i dont believe in love. haha

    good song.

  • You do know there are several bands before and after EITS that do this type of music? I mean EITS is on this train, but they certainly didn't lay the track.

  • post-rock is mankinds greatest invention... only genre where i have yet to dislike a single band/song.

  • @Metllerr I feel the same way...

  • This Will Destroy You is a fantastic band with an awesome sound but in all fairness to say they are better than Explosions in the sky I don't really agree with. Rhien23, you say you can name five bands that sound like them and I'd like you to. I don't think any post-rock band has the build up that they do. This Will Destory you songs sound like they are building up to something big and then just as quickly settle down or don't go to the lengths anticipated. Great band don't get me wrong.

  • are those trees real ?

how nice would it be to sit under those trees as the sun sets behind them while listening to this song with the one you love. this is so very BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!

  • Why not just love both bands? I do.

  • @Eckull thank you dude... guys, why rank and scale every artist you come across? Just appreciate the sound of these artists. :)

  • These guys are good, but it never really comes to a head, there is no release. Good sound but EITS does it more for me

  • eits = explosions in the sky

  • Comment removed

  • @Malissa122 Explosions in the sky

  • @Malissa122 an alternative form of AIDS... lol jk

  • @Malissa122 has this hit you yet....you know that it means explosions in the sky?

  • @Malissa122 explosions in the sky

  • @Malissa122 explosions in the sky

  • if you see them live you see the difference eits is beautiful and twdy is like being hit with a melodic sledge hammer enjoy them and stop comparing because they post rock and live in the same state lol

  • I wish I could do music like this. This Will Destroy You is amazing.

  • awesome.

  • the drums here is so awsome ..

TWDY is why i love post rock .. they are the BEST

  • Cool

  • not good, not bad just different

  • when will people realize that explosions in the sky is nothing like this will destroy you? they are 2 totally different artists.

it's like saying korn and deftones are just alike. TWDY is a completely different band than EITS.

different approach, different technique, different methods, different sound. EITS is not the base foundation of post-rock.

I can name at least 5 artists that sound like EITS.

I can barely name one artist that vaugley resemble TWDY.

    TWDY> EITS

  • well said sir

  • agreed

  • amen

  • @rhien23 why even comparin them? they are both amazing bands! it pisses me off when someone tries to compare great bands!

  • that is fuckin rightt¡

  • Well said. TWDY are in a league of their own.

  • I think most people just say it based on the guitar tone, seeing as they both use clean, finger-picked guitars a lot. I'm not saying it's right to do that, but people who have little understanding of music tend to make the people who do understand it pissed at every opportunity; you just have to learn to accept it.

  • @rhien23 I think since they are the same genre people seem to compare them, same with movies and everything in life. But just let them be, and believe what they believe.

  • @rhien23 i discovered TWDY only few days ago, I really like them but "EITS and TWDY are two very different band" is sincerely a stupid sentence, the bands are clearly similar, EITS approach is more minimalist than TWDY.

  • @logicannullata get back with me when you've listened to TWDY for more than a few days.

  • @rhien23 korn? the deftones??? seriously?

  • @rhien23 red room cinema sounds kinda like twdy

  • @kpgpwi64 no, they kinda dont - actually, they don't sound like them at all.

  • @rhien23 well i was probably comparing guitar tones but as a whole yes they don't sound the same but the guitars in twdy's "they move on tracks of never-ending light" and rrc's "exhalted in the technique of homicide" sound similar.

  • @rhien23 i agree with westogmoney. in my opinion they are both really great artists in their own way. there's no need to say one is better than the other...

  • @cerberuscore7 it wasnt meant to be a comparison of which band is better, personally I think TWDY is better because they have really evolved and progressed into their own niche of music, not just 'post-rock'. I know Young Mountain was pretty formulaic post rock, but S/T and Field Studies was really a step in another direction IMO, yet everyone still wants to say OMGZ REVERB, DELAY, NO LYRICS = PAUEST RAWLK! JUST LIKE EITS!

anyway, listen to TWDY new stuff. There really is no debate now.

  • @rhien23 Can you name me 5 bands that sound like EITS? Because I haven't found any :( In fact, TWDY is the band that sound, as far as I know, the most like them.

  • @Cystlib Signal Hill, Saxon Shore, Sunlight Ascending, Tristeza, Joy Wants Eternity, Some Are Gods, Forests, Moonlit Sailor, Beware of Safety, Chemtrail, Rumour Cubes and a few with lyrics: Youth Pictures Of Florence Henderson, Immanu El, Epic45.

  • @rhien23 Actually, you should add TWDY to that list. I agree that there are some major differences, but above all, they sound a lot the same. Also, EITS's 1st album is out 4 already a decade, but TWDY's 1st album debuted only 2 years ago. On the other hand, both the new album of EITS and TWDY explore different sounds both bands have never played be4. So they're both slowly growing towards a more own sound I guess. I personally prefer EITS above TWDY, but why not love both bands? :P

  • @rhien23 It takes more than one "creative-perception" brain cell to figure out that these guys and Explosions are actually different people. This is not a disguise. These are not impostors. Peace x

  • @rhien23 Don't give a shit man! I like both Explosions in the sky and This will destroy you! You're right saying that both have different approach, technique etc... but that doesn't make this band superior! Sou you shouldn't say that TWDY> EITS! Both of bands have something special in their music. That's why i love them equally. :)

  • @rhien23 your dumb. they are similar artists and they are both excellent bands. that is all.

  • @rhien23

Eh. I'd actually be willing to say Explosions in the Sky is the better band, just because they have, from what I can tell, quite a bit more variation in their tracks.

This is astoundingly beautiful, but a bit one-dimensional overall.

Point being not necessarily that one's superior in absolute fact - just that they're both damn good bands and you can look at it either way.

  • @rhien23

they're both awesome, but i must say i like TWDY more cuz imo they have much more feeling in their tracks.

who cares anyways i wouldnt start a discussion cuz it depends on oneself what u like and what not.

  • @rhien23 you're just contradicting yourself. you said they are two completely different artists, styles and methods but then you go on to say that TWDY is better than EITS. Both are really fucking amazing bands that are a part of a superior genre. Post-rock.

  • @rhien23 look i can't name one artist that sounds like a dying pig, but i can name one that vaugly resembles TWDY (how bout mono).

Therefore dying pig noise > TWDY.

  • @rhien23 hey sorry no disrespect EITS and TWDY are both great bands, i just don't get your logic.

  • @rhien23 If they are two totally different artists how can you possibly grade one being better then the other? Both bands fit into post rock genre, both are good, both have other bands that sound similar. Neither bands are the foundation of post rock but they are both unique representations of the style. Shame on all you who voted this comment up

  • @rhien23

And those five or six or seven are?

  • @rhien23 Post-Rock > Mainstream :D, and a lot of other genres but im too lazy to type it up lol

  • @rhien23 they are actually really similar man. Compared to other popular post rock bands anyhow.

  • if you like instrumental bands check out explosions in the sky and mogwai.

  • don't forget God is an astronaut :D

  • if you like instrumental bands, check out animals as leaders (:

  • homecoming mixxxx!

  • i used to really love explosions until i heard this band...they just do everything so much better..

  • i really think its unfair to say "they do everything so much better", but to each his own. i think they're different in their own ways

  • @westogmoney of course they are different in their own way, that was they entire idea behind my post. There is a common theme throught this thread, where as TWDY = EITS, when in fact, if you actually listen to them, they are really nothing a like. except they both fit the Post Rock mold. again, it would be like saying Deftones and Korn are the same. They both fit the mold but are very different.

  • @charliemoore4

Both bands are from another realm.

  • i have crazy echo on my playback (something is fucked up with my soundcard) but it makes this song like 10000000000000x cooler

  • ~Very Beautiful Music...~

  • Amazing song...

  • upload something of hej ninja please

    abient rules!!

  • I'm pretty new to post and ambient rock, it's been a week since I first heard of it, and I like what I hear, but could anyone explain me the difference between the two because they sound very alike to me.

  • these guys remind me of slipknot!

hah all kidding aside, this is beautiful music.

  • Depending on your definition, there's hardly a difference. Explosions in the Sky, widely regarded as a Post-Rock band, could just as easily be classified as Ambient. Post rock is basically rock instruments playing more than just chords or a single melody line. And that's what this is... But in any case, it shouldn't really matter. As long as you like what you're listening too, who gives a damn what genre it falls into?

  • This Will Destroy You is a post-rock band. It's a band who uses 'rock' instruments to create riffs and rhythms that aren't usually rock. Look at Sigur Ros. Bet you can call their sound ambient, too.

i guess this band could also be classified as ambient. it is kind of atmospheric.

  • Be nice.

  • phenomenal! post rock rules!

  • perfect.

  • Beautiful!

  • i could listen to this over again

  • love this one.
