I didn't know that that road was in Tennessee--that is a beautiful highway outside of Chattanooga! And one that is NOT an interstate! How it goes through Walden Ridge with those steep grades and inclines is breathtaking! And... no commercial signs or tall signs advertising restaurants or gas stations--it is bare and raw in its appearance!

Very interesting roadwork engeneering.

The Intersections of TN-111 on Walden Ridge were rebuilt around 2003.

And on Google Earth (with timescale) you can find the answer for your question:

3 lanes in your direction because this was the pre-2003 2+1 Layout of the road. The other direction 2 lane road was built north of it.

Surprisingly no but according to maps the time change is at the county line., there are signs for that sort of thing on the Interstates however.

I think that there's three lanes on southbound TN 111 between Lewis Chapel and Jones Gap Rds. because you're going toward Downtown Chattanooga. Even though you're a good ways off, and there's not much traffic up that way anyway. Just a thought.
