There's no better place to swim than the Yuba River! I live in Grass Valley, work in Nevada City, and I love it up here. I've lived in Southern California, Oklahoma, TX, Hawaii and Alaska . . . this is the best place I've ever lived.
What is life like for you in NC? How are the winters and is it ever really hot enough for a pool or swimming in Scots Flat Lake? I just know of NC from pictures and websites and think it might be a nice place to live/retire.
if i were you i would stay where you are, actually i wouldn't even come visit! just kidding, nevada city is really cool, except for all the stupid dope smoking hippies, but other than that its great. During the summer you can swim in scotts flat, or own a boat which is what most people do. The winter can be really harsh especially up by scotts flat (cascade shores), but town isn't generally to bad... Though, the more people come, the more it loses its small town charm.
@ PhancyPants67 Lol yeah I agree about the amount of hippies and smokers there are there. Sometimes I go swimming at the Yuba River too which isn't to far away from NC.
@mondovila The winters are actually quite mild. Summer definitely warrants owning a pool. 45 minutes to ski and an hour and a half to the coast. Cant beat it.
