This game looks really boring and stagnant. I know everyone loves to hear the WoW comparison(and I agree, the aspect of WoW PVP are shitty, but atleast the actual pvp at it's core is really fun), but this looks like dogshit compared to it.

You have what, 8 buttons to work with. My rogue(which probably has some of the least skills) has easily 15-20 abilities that I am constantly using, and the PVP is always changing depending on who I'm attacking, or trying to CC.

But hey, to each his own.

@staphinfection The whole point in having only 8 buttons makes it so the game requires strategy and thought of your build before you actually play. For instance in WoW you go hey look a hunter I will now grab another ability to kill him. Where as in GW you go, hey look a Ranger, well since my build is for destroying melee classes I will need some help killing him. You cant change your build during battle, you have to improvise.

As you said though, to each his own.

not bad. i run a PVE spike (not ebon skills ) that produces 1 second kills on master of dmg. 700 to 900+ in 2 seconds and this build is still this effective now. single ranger PVE spike.

Good rspikes should never require 2-3 seconds to kill the target. The monks could be asleep and still catch that

There are a lot of builds out there for a ranger... including melee and traper. But for a new player into the game, I would suggest 1 of 2 builds.

Either the Ranger Spike type, where you can dish out a lot of damage quickly.

Or a Splinter Weapon Barrager where you can do a lot of AoE type damage .

These two build types are the most basic and popular ones to run.

However, if you have Proph only, the pet ranger is actually the way to go after all of the nerfs rangers have taklen.

The code is obsolete anyways after the skill nerfs... only works in PvE really... and Crossfire instead of Hunter's Shot... so the build has changed.

ive used it with power shot instead of hunters and poisons sig instead of meding touch and taken the res out for lightnigreflex for the extra speed when ED runs out and defense of melle n range ovi. but i have used it in JQ and FA to great effect just to let you know tis a great build 5 stars :)

R/Mo or R/Rit... depends on the build i am running. R/Mo is good with the self healing touch skills and touch rez' energy cost being reduced by Expertise.

it is Norn Armor crafted by Radi in Gunner's Hold, EoTN. You need to be rank 5 Norn before you can talk to him to get it. Basicully, beat EoTN and turn a full normal mode book in to the Norn Storyteller and that should give you the rank 5 you need.

Sucks that almost all of the build got nerfed. Hunter's Shot, Expert's Dexterity and Read the Wind... not sure if this was taken before or after the Penetrating/Sundering duo got nerfed :(

Dual shot is an expensive skill to use that doesn't have any damage on its own... so would you need buffs on you, like Nightmare Weapon or Glass Arrows in order for it to be viable for use... overall, IMO, its forgotten skill that needs a buff...

sry even that build is bad even when it was part of the meta. u werent even using a vamp wep during ur vid. and rspike is easily countered in todays meta anyway all u need is a decent monk and a 2 sec spike is worthless. i can catch a spike in about 1 1/2 second. all u need to do is wait for the deepwound considering most meta rspikes use that

The reason I didnt use a vamp bow was the fact that I didn't want to degen myself to death while explaining the build... I sometimes have to take several takes when making my videos... if I took 3-4 takes for the video... I would have killed him due to the degen...

There is a newer version me and a friend of mine made we use it in AB. We lock off an entire mob of kurzicks with it and 2 other rangers so dont give up hope there still is a ranger spike out there.

but flail on rangers is official nerfed as of today, and also read the wind is nerfed so rangers are out of the meta now.

From what I have seen it is still widely used... although rawr spike is still the king of GvG. But to answer you question, yes it is still used, but obviously the PvE version is much more buffed then PvP.
