It is essentially a war crime for another country to declare war on us if we keep within our agreed boundaries. When discussing military issues its important to remember the politics which moulds it. ie. the US army is not huge because they feel like it, there are political reasons why they have gotten to that size (look up military industrial complex). :)

I think the government should spend more money on defense, maybe double the budget just to start the RDF should be raised to 25,000 the PDF can stand at 10,000 half a dozen more ships for the navy. I think the government should spend more money on defense, maybe double the budget just to start the RDF should be raised to 25,000 the PDF can stand at 10,000 half a dozen more ships for the navy. The air corps maybe a new wing or 2, but that is just my opinion of course and I'm sure Willie is taking notes so lets not give him any stupid ideas now.

There is a tradition in the republic of joining the British army, the Irish army is small around 10,000 they cant take all the applicants so the ones that don't get called go to the British army, that's just the way its in the Republic.

So many that recruitment has actually stopped.
The only position that they have a lack of are medics.
Most of the Irish applicants to the British army are the ones who got rejected by the Irish just so you know.
People either don't pass the interview or the fitness test so they go ahead and join the British army instead.

I just looked at these boys and thought them British until I read the title. Incidently, more of your youth are joining the British army since during WW2 15% up annually than four years ago. There are about twenty in my own Regiment, from sound stock and most welcome. My company sergent major is Irish, non better!.

I can spot the difference betwee
