I really, really wish I was reading 1984 when this album came out. I don't tend to get a lot of literary illusions though, so it was a pleasant surprise when the first thing that popped into my head while listening to this was, "Big Brother!".

Man, Thrice is by far THE best band in the world!!! But, following them over the years, I never knew they had "elements of Sweedish Death Metal check.check. I don't think bands like Avenged Sevenfold or even Metallica can produce good music like this. It's all about the music!

And you are my therapist now? An album was made to be sold iino the public domain. I, as a member of the public stated that, after hearing the album, I would opt not to buy it, as is my right, and I stated why I wouldnt. The mistake was made my the "open minded" person who for some reason felt the need to force me into buying the album with HIS justifications. So, once again, if you like it, buy it, if you dont, dont, I dont, because they sound like total shit now IMO. case closed.

while it is sometimes disappointing when a band you like changes, I'm not sure its exactly our right to decimate their art so thoroughly. I doubt they write music for either you or me. They have matured in interesting ways.

Actually, I loathe atreyu. I''m not even sure what they are supposed to be, and though I will admit Avenged Sevenfold have a good lead guitarist, they are trying way too hard. my favorite bands are Iron Maiden, Darkest hour, Guns N Roses, At The Gates, Aerosmith, Megadeth, Metallica and Joe Satriani. Basically speed metal, thrash metal, or Swedish death metal. Old Thrice has some elements of SDM, the new stuff is so far gone from anything I will listen to, it's sad.

checkcheck662, just because you listen to a narrow set of metal bands doesnt mean Thrice do too, theyre a genre-defying band that has progressed over the years. Maybe its sad for a metalhead like yourself, but for someone like me who listens to everything from Slayer to Mastodon all the way to Bob Dylan and Depeche Mode, Thrice is one of the few bands that can pull off any style with complete mastery. Thrice are one of the most underrated bands of this era, completely about the music.

Their progression over the years in incredible. Dustin has always written amazing lyrics but he's taking that to a new level. I think a lot of it has to do with the solo album he released. Since then they've begun blending so many music styles instead of playing in one set genre. Teppei's guitar work has become so ambient, the Brothers bass and drum lines and syncopated works of art and Kensrue's vocals are bluesy and haunting. They just never fail to impress and get better. Go Thrice.
