  • When I first came across this clip, i thought, 'great, some guy trying to play Groucho..how crap'. But by the end of the clip I had honestly forgot it WAS an actor, because the way he spoke, acted, the emotion, everything was so realistic.

  • Nice performance, but I didn't get the parts about "Chico died today" and then his describing the "at the grave site" service being already done with. That would have to be the fastest legal expiration, preparation and formal burial of all time!

  • I was ok until he started picking out keys on the piano. BAWWWWW

  • I'm not so sure about this, though. It would be awkward enough to have rabid journalists write biographies about you, and then to have some stranger playact you (professionally, no less) and put unsettlingly private words into "your" mouth. It's all sort of weird, no? But I'm not criticizing Ferrante; that's not my point.

  • @LouisLambert This was written by Groucho's son Arthur. From what Frank Ferrante said in a recent interview the story is pretty straightforward. That is how Groucho felt. Arthur who was born in 1921 and will be 91 this year, was with Groucho quite a lot. Read "Son of Groucho" a book written by Arthur around 1972 when Groucho was still around. And Groucho's daughter Melinda safeguard's her father's legacy. She and Frank are good friends.

  • @bobandrayfan1 Well, that's a relief!

  • @bobandrayfan1 I heard Arthur died very recently.

  • @takineko Yes he died on April 14th at the age of 89.

  • Stunning performance! Had me crying but laughing at the same time (Did you ever do that? It's an odd feeling!) especially when Frank taps the piano keys at the end of the clip.

  • I thought that Gummo paid for Chico's funeral. Wasn't he the accountant/money man in the family?

  • sounds like brent spiner doing groucho marx

  • I got to see Frank Ferrante on stage, he performed as Groucho for 3 hours, amazing!

I've also seen this DVD before, how they presented Groucho and Chico's relationship was both tragic and touching. :)

  • I like Groucho's cigar and kids story from You Bet Your Life.

  • I have the DVD of this. The show is so wonderful, and Frank Ferrante does a marvelous job.

  • Frank Ferrante is such a genius! I'm so glad I had the pleasure of seeing him in "An Evening with Groucho" Just wonderful!
