My wife and I are moving to Oregon, and due to this law I am going to get rid of my classic ford. Then buy a huge diesel dually truck and put stacks on it that belch black smoke. I will then later load it up with all my shot guns; truck to run priuses off the road, and the shotguns when those libs. start pelting me with rocks, and run at me with sticks or the more adventurous ones that come after me with knives. I as well own a bmw and a 69 datsun roadster with mods that would become illegal
banning sticky tires!? that way a car isn't as safe as it was before. it doesn't make sense. If they want to improve fuel economy how about banning pick up trucks to people who don't need them.
yea that's exactly what I said. People who don't actually live at a farm don't really need them. I mean, I really don't care about pickups, but if all of them get 15mpg something should be done about it. How about a fat gas guzzler tax? lolz
thats right man, there should also be a law banning cars over a certain height from driving in the left lane. A) you cant c whats in front of you and B) it fucks up the flow of traffic.... too bad the politicians dont care about car guys...
Drive your exotics...you can afford them...make me feel bad.
Can't ban modding cars...if you shut down the shops...someone will just sell the stuff out of their house. "Got any weed"? "No but I got a cold air intake and a roller rocker set" LMAO!!!
for sure people should keep on buying exotics and muscle cars. Oil prices fell so it's now or never the time to go on road trips and really use those cars
Problem is it isn't the cost to buy a Ferrari that is the most difficult part of getting one. The REAL problem is how expensive it is to maintain them. You can spend tens of thousands on a single prescheduled maintenance. I would pass on a Ferrari and get a Viper or a Porsche any day of the week b/c I want a car I can drive not send to shop every few thousand miles.
I was recently in Ontario, Canada. Their are signs along the Highway that say 150KM (93MPH) equals $10,000.00 fine + roadside confiscation of your car + roadside revocation of your drivers license. Oregon is not the only place that is persecuting driver enthusiast. It's not about safety or ecology, this is just a guise. Currently a civil liberty power grab is in play through attrition, not only with regard to drivers, but the basics of life and liberty. Beware!
You are obviously too feminine for car racing. There is nothing worst that a guy with homosexual tendencies that criticizes those that don't. I checked out your profile. Hmm instead of saving up money for upgrading my S2k; I shall now save it up for buying a better car! :-)...So how does one get into these such auctions? I know that there are public auctions but eh...
Yeah sure, but only and only IF you CAN drive it properly. Cause there's a lot of idiots that can't even drive a family car, and they want a Ferrari... haha
My answer for the question of the day: No matter how cheap or expensive the car, if you can afford it, it being the payments, insurance, maintenance, gas, tires, traffic tickets, et all, flog it like a hoe.
sucks to be in oregon. i dont know what inspection laws are like out there. over here in quebec we dont have to get inspections unless the car was plated elswhere or off the road for over a year.
Hate to tell you, but the average Ford GT is still holding strong at about $150,000 right now, and pretty much any comparable ferrari built before 2004 can be had for less than that. And ZR1's, though new, are selling for every bit of the $105k sticker.
Well dealers near me aren't letting go of any ZR1's for less than $145k, and what I should have said was, if you take a Ferrari to a track, and something "breaks", in the long run it's going to be expensive as hell to repair. Not only that, you can fix a Ford GT or a ZR1 by yourself. If that still doesn't settle it, I was raised to buy American only, once the economy settles I'm going to pick up a GT500. I'd still rather have any American over some overpriced import.
lol what a great change in improve the economy -_- lol banning tires? how bout saving people life with better tires. your better off not allowing people who buy crap exhaust because they hurt people ears.
Seriously, I can fathom how people that stupid make it into public office. I guess it's the same logic as putting the sales guy into an upper level management position
To drive, or not to drive should be the question. I mean when your in a position yo enjoy the sheer power and attitude of an exotic for that price, but be affraid of how other people think about it is just damn right stupid. These cars are allmost beïng cheaper to buy than milk and stil you don't wanna drive them I meen HALOOO!!! commen sense I like to say If you can buy it, buy it and enjoy it.
I better just buy a viper engine then before the ban... cause im not going to have a powerhouse... just because al Gore made a video with a shit load of half turth in it. Global warming is a crock of shit, and it's an agenda... so come on... stand up to this shit... unless you want to be told by a security camera to please pick up that wrapper next to you. haha seriously...
i look in the "completed listings" sections to see what people have accepted as offers or auctions have stopped at. that's what the car is really worth. if you really want to buy one, you are going to have to find the car you want and make an offer.
No Ferrari for me! We have a law in Ontario in particular that allows police to summarily impound your vehicle if you're caught doing 50km/h or higher over the limit (~30mph). I would have to say another factor making these cars prices go down is the economy in today's world. Although if the bill that was spoken about yesterday goes through (Which will inject $850,000,000,000+ into our economy) is passed, I would imagine to see an increase on the price of everything, including cars. That is if we print most of that new money.
Well, I just heard about this bill the other day... and damn...(Being an Eastern Oregonion) I would be screwed in the winter time without snow tires. My pathfinder would have 6" of lift on what... 31s ... oh wait no ... even smaller... and my audi... great... this blows. I have already sent a letter, but if this goes through I will be pissed. It's the western side that screws us all the time... thanks Portland...
Hell yeah you should buy it. People don't look down on people who buy stocks when they're low, so there's nothing wrong with doing the same in the exotic car market. Granted, there are discrepancies between the two markets, but the point withstands them.
Their construction process cause more harm to the environment than a RR Sport Will in its whole lifetime.
And you can get better Gas milage from a well sorted diesel. A Volkswagen Golf/Jetta TDI 140 will manage 58 MPG,.
A VW Polo Blue motion manages 76MPG!! It manages 60mph in 11 seconds and it tops out at 110mph, which is as good as a Toyota "Pious", and it will handle much better, hybrids are too heavy for entertaining driving dynamics.
Agreed. Hybrids are dumb in my opinion, especially the SUV. I say just go light weight and stronger materials to keep cars safe. Lighter weight means smaller engine, smaller engine burns less gas. Diesel is a great option as well especially on larger vehicles. Plus the key rule, ITS NOT WHAT YOU DRIVE, ITS HOW YOU DRIVE IT. My Turbo Supra will get on a long trip about 28 mpg cruising at around 65mph and still makes big power when needed
Ideed, you can knock around all day in an old 4.0 litre Supra, and if you keep it out of the power band, say, below 2500rpm then you can make stready process, and still expect upwards of 30 - 35 mpg.
Just don't try overtaking or all your hard work will be sucked awa by 4 seconds in 3rd gear.
definitely drive the exotic! who cares what other people think about you. why should other people not be able to drive nice cars because you're doing shitty financially? just stupid if you ask me
The day I can afford a 1996 911 turbo, I will have one and drive it happily! I'll even deliver food to the needy in it. If I have the ability to save and buy it then I will, and then promptly rock it daily, until I can't buy tires for it because some moron, thinks it my feedom of purchase power will de-grease his pockets.
That legislation is insane... someone somewhere is trying to collect on a fat payday... Id never go back to the stock OEM tires my car came with (there not even produced anymore ...) Its insane... The viper is too cool to see die but honestly i could seee a 450hp V8 viper and the big daddy... We have seen Ferrari the mother of performance create a entry style smaller version with the california and its up pretty high on my wishlist and it hasnt changed my opinion of ferrari at all..
The California is the same price and roughly the same size as the F430, so the "engry level" thing, though a common conception, isn't entirely accurate.
the "noise violations" with aftermarket exhausts are common, and can be fought (and won) in court. Simply ask the company that made the exhaust to send you a letter or card stating its 50 state legality and it will be thrown out.
Man If I didn't already have a car payment I would be trying to get a viper. Its kinda nice to see some of these expensive cars that are gonna be worth a lot one day so cheap. Id even be cool with an early 2000 Viper GTS ACR.
the good news is they are getting very affordable, the maintenance isn't too bad, and there are lots of them out there so you're guaranteed to be able to find a good one for many years.
I don't know about the earlier cars, but the new Vipers are fantastically fun track cars. They are well balanced and fun to drift around corners, and with the right tire combination handle very well. The interiors are still shit, but that's not what you want in a track car anyway.
I think what those reviewers were saying is for the average driver. They can be like puppy dogs on the street but it takes 100% on the track or they can/will kill you.
It's close, but the Genesis Coupe is gonna start around $21,000, so technically it's still cheaper. The Viper would be cheaper than the Genesis sedan though :)
fuck what people think of you! if you have the money and you want a ferrari, why should a bad economy stop you? why would people think any less or more of you if you drive a ferrari or not, despite the economy.
Yeah, Oregon is trying to start something here. I feel like, if i spend thousands and thousands of my hard earned dollars, i should be able to do whatever i want with to it or with it as long as it passes emissions. But i agree, that bill wont pass, there are too many enthusiests out there to oppose it.
banning tires is the dumbest shit ive ever heard. the government needs to leave our fucking cars alone and quit making us try to save gas. its my car, and as long as it passes any safety or emissions standards i should be able to do whatever the fuck i want. and yes, drive a ferrari!
After years of saving, I finally got a new porsche. If I'd known I could have gotten a Ferrari, I'd be in a Ferrari. You don't go to the playground when you could be in Disneyland.
Congratulations on your new Porsche! And the grass isn't always greener... Ferrari's are great but think of all that dough you're saving on maintenance!
for real. especially if you been saving for that ferrari or lambo for years. Shit, im still saving for an aston martin and when i do get it im gonna drive the shit out of it
If you're embarrassed to drive around in a Ferrari then you pathetic ass doesn't deserve one. It doesn't matter what shithole the economy is in, if you earned money and bought a Ferrari then drive it instead of being a little pussy and worrying what people will get jealous.
The reason why the Corvette argument is a bad one is because 85% of Americans populations live in big cities. Most of us live in the cityu, work in the city, and live our entire lives mainly in the city, where they get what 18mpg. Wouldn't even out at all. That's why hybrids are doing so well, they get really good city mileage.
DRIVE IT!!!! if you have the means to buy one, DOO EET!!!! exotics are shining examples of what the car industry should be as a whole and should be bought, excersized and shown off, people who cant afford them can still appreciate their performance and beauty, who cares if the economy is bad, it wont make someone who is rich any less rich by not driving them. just less ostintatious.
I would feel sorta weird driving a Ferrari with todays economy. Hell i feel a little guilty in my WRX and thats not even a big deal. Although if i lived in some rich snobby area that opinion may be different.
In Greenwich, where I live, many people feel the same way, and are trading in their Bentleys and Rollers for BMW 5 series and E Class Benzes so they don't stand out as people who are flaunting wealth right now.
What ever happened to the freedom to pursue happiness? banning aftermarket parts? that is fucking rediculous. I hate oregon, Lets assist the person who introduced the bill with suicide. Drive the fucking Ferrari. Unless you are a insecure sheep who just wants to 'fit in'.
Drive that shit bro, why would people not drive their cars because of the economy? If some people got their lives fucked up in the economy, it's not your fault. If they lost their job and can't pay their bills, it's not because you're driving a Ferrari! Rip it up!
today i had my F355 park on the curb and when i went to drive it home someone put a note on the hood "YOUR AN ASS TO DRIVE A FERRARI WHEN YOU COULD HELP SOMEONE" i can't get of the hood
My family buys all of our cars at dealer auctions. I bought my volvo for $10k where a dealer would have sold it for 16k. If you got a dealer that will take you to an auction go for it!!!.
Tires are a safety issue!!! Make stricter emission standards but grippier tires make a safer car.
I was admiring the Porsche behind Matt... until I realized there was also a Charger R/T in the frame. Want!

levirolla 3 years ago 5

If I have the ability to save and buy it then I will, and then promptly rock it daily, until I can't buy tires for it because some moron, thinks it my feedom of purchase power will de-grease his pockets.
billyboy713 3 years ago
That legislation is insane... someone somewhere is trying to collect on a fat payday... Id never go back to the stock OEM tires my car came with (there not even produced anymore ...) Its insane... The viper is too cool to see die but honestly i could seee a 450hp V8 viper and the big daddy... We have seen Ferrari the mother of performance create a entry style smaller version with the california and its up pretty high on my wishlist and it hasnt changed my opinion of ferrari at all..
DaBluedude100 3 years ago
The California is the same price and roughly the same size as the F430, so the "engry level" thing, though a common conception, isn't entirely accurate.
Garage419 3 years ago
I live in Va, and i have been stoped many times for having exhaust that was not oem. it has already started
marteazy13 3 years ago
the "noise violations" with aftermarket exhausts are common, and can be fought (and won) in court. Simply ask the company that made the exhaust to send you a letter or card stating its 50 state legality and it will be thrown out.
Garage419 3 years ago
Fuck Oregon's politicians. Bitches should be worrying about something else like gangs and crime rather than fucking aftermarket parts for cars.
triplexxxsatyr 3 years ago
Man If I didn't already have a car payment I would be trying to get a viper. Its kinda nice to see some of these expensive cars that are gonna be worth a lot one day so cheap. Id even be cool with an early 2000 Viper GTS ACR.
Trox3985 3 years ago
if you have the money why wouldn't you drive your exotic
carcrazy599 3 years ago
I want Viper to go on forever....Its been the apple of my eye since i was a kid
iamhotty 3 years ago
the good news is they are getting very affordable, the maintenance isn't too bad, and there are lots of them out there so you're guaranteed to be able to find a good one for many years.
Garage419 3 years ago
I've seen and read in many reviews though that it is visciously fast in straight lines but turns into a coffin-on-wheels in the turns.
bstrdhound 3 years ago
I don't know about the earlier cars, but the new Vipers are fantastically fun track cars. They are well balanced and fun to drift around corners, and with the right tire combination handle very well. The interiors are still shit, but that's not what you want in a track car anyway.
Garage419 3 years ago
I think what those reviewers were saying is for the average driver. They can be like puppy dogs on the street but it takes 100% on the track or they can/will kill you.
koukicrisp 3 years ago
true, its not for the amateur. i constantly forget that i know what i'm doing in a fast car with no traction control.
Garage419 3 years ago
dont drive an exotic... give it to me and let me drive it!
satagoXCK 3 years ago
A Viper for less than a new Genesis Coupe. Man that guy has to be the happiest man on Earth.
koukicrisp 3 years ago
It's close, but the Genesis Coupe is gonna start around $21,000, so technically it's still cheaper. The Viper would be cheaper than the Genesis sedan though :)
Garage419 3 years ago
i say Viper should be the american Caterham. think about it, 600hp kit car. more exclusive that a fucking dodge. and heavy demand.
fighter832 3 years ago
Buy a viper and tell any self-righteous prick you bought it for less than a prius. You can also use oem tires if it makes you feel better.

fuck what people think of you! if you have the money and you want a ferrari, why should a bad economy stop you? why would people think any less or more of you if you drive a ferrari or not, despite the economy.
lambo357 3 years ago
my uncle just got a S4 w/ 8000 miles for $35000 (I think). Its crazy to think that he could've a viper for almost 10k less
brookmn567 3 years ago
Or a 2007 RS4 in Immola Red w/ black interior for the same price! Check out ebay on that one, I did.
Garage419 3 years ago
I checked it out and didn't see anything out of the ordinary.
tcman306 3 years ago
Ya he got the S4 as a "business" car so im guessing a RS4 was a little too much.
(he's also got an M3 from a couple years ago. I guess that his "fun" car)

sparks444 3 years ago

You don't go to the playground when you could be in Disneyland.
bonespg1971 3 years ago
Congratulations on your new Porsche! And the grass isn't always greener... Ferrari's are great but think of all that dough you're saving on maintenance!
Garage419 3 years ago
for real. especially if you been saving for that ferrari or lambo for years. Shit, im still saving for an aston martin and when i do get it im gonna drive the shit out of it
yardman8888 3 years ago 3
As an aston martin owner, trust me, that's the right decision.
Garage419 3 years ago
If you're embarrassed to drive around in a Ferrari then you pathetic ass doesn't deserve one. It doesn't matter what shithole the economy is in, if you earned money and bought a Ferrari then drive it instead of being a little pussy and worrying what people will get jealous.

Amen Brother! when I was walking 5 years ago, no car just saving my money, nobody gave a fuck about me!
dariusasimmons 3 years ago
how about drive a new corvette...damn near 30MPG!!!!!! and it's made in the USA!
gregger454 3 years ago 2
The reason why the Corvette argument is a bad one is because 85% of Americans populations live in big cities. Most of us live in the cityu, work in the city, and live our entire lives mainly in the city, where they get what 18mpg. Wouldn't even out at all. That's why hybrids are doing so well, they get really good city mileage.
koukicrisp 3 years ago
DRIVE IT!!!! if you have the means to buy one, DOO EET!!!! exotics are shining examples of what the car industry should be as a whole and should be bought, excersized and shown off, people who cant afford them can still appreciate their performance and beauty, who cares if the economy is bad, it wont make someone who is rich any less rich by not driving them. just less ostintatious.
cougarfan1341 3 years ago
I would feel sorta weird driving a Ferrari with todays economy. Hell i feel a little guilty in my WRX and thats not even a big deal. Although if i lived in some rich snobby area that opinion may be different.
Ej205scoob 3 years ago
In Greenwich, where I live, many people feel the same way, and are trading in their Bentleys and Rollers for BMW 5 series and E Class Benzes so they don't stand out as people who are flaunting wealth right now.

How do we go about making sure the Oregon bill is NOT passed? What idiots came up with this shit.??? seriously!!! Jeeez, some people!
willibn 3 years ago
if you ave the cash and your still doing well then why should you feel you have to sell it especially now witth the price your going to get for it.
Life gotta be enjoyed and if you enjoy driving your ferrarind and can afford to run it then i'd say keep it.

Rip it up!

My family buys all of our cars at dealer auctions. I bought my volvo for $10k where a dealer would have sold it for 16k. If you got a dealer that will take you to an auction go for it!!!.
Tires are a safety issue!!! Make stricter emission standards but grippier tires make a safer car.
