Nice! I like the VSI on the display :) (though they make them a little laggy).
Can you help with an idea: what portable device is best to record the analog A/V signal?? I know Archos walkman can do it with a small port added to it...then not sure which other thing can? HDD video cube recorders can no doubt, but i'm not sure if they are "portable"--no battery in them.
Thanks for rep.! I hesitated alot yesterday and decided to use this Acer mini-computer for recording. For this i got one of these USB Video-to digital video keys from ebay. I thought it is best choice because it gives best output PAL resolution, while the archos/ipod can give compressed quality image. I think it is nice to use notebook/acer because we don't have to worry about weak divided video signal (divided between monit. & rec.).
It can be fitted on a helicopter too, I'm doing that next year. The Multiplex EasyStar is a beginner's plane, easy to handle and inexpensive, but the most important thing: air-screw out of view
Flying wings and Deltas are used by advanced flyers
At 3:15 you ask about a reading. I'm just guessing but after watching your video a few times, (GREAT VIDEO information) it looks like it might be a signal strength (seems to go up as you get closer).
When you switched views and the transmitter icon appeared in direction and distance I noticed that there was a blink of failsafe as the TX icon seemed to go out of range.
QUESTIONs: how did you get the overhead shots?
Is your CG ok? Plane seems to porpoise in the overhead shots.
The signal strength sounds plausible but the in the scenes I've cut out the reading jumps from 360 immediately to 0 and then still increasing. So it has to show me the direction (0 or 360° is North) but this value is not correct everytime, maybe the plane is turning too fast.
Yes the failsafe appeared because I got behind the building, 40 MHz should be better in this case than the video TX with 2,4 GHz but it is REALLY strong :-)
The views switched automatically at the failsafe, I had no time for playing ;-)
The overhead shots got recorded at the danube tower, lower restaurant.
The CG should be alright, I think it was a mixture of huge thermal lift, temperature drift of the Gyro (cheap Piezo) and video interference where I could only put the sticks to neutral.
In the second part I got lots of stalls because the termal lift was missing, I thought an aileron servo is defect but the tape at the nose shows too less speed.
I did not notice the tape because I had problems with the sight, I had problems to notice my position. It was too dark for me, I will now fly only max. 1 hour before sunset. Sure I have the arrow of the OSD but I had to prepare the landing so I could not just fly to my position.
At the second landing hunting appeared. I need to check the sensitivity of the gyro, maybe it appeared because it is a beginners plane.
You're making me want to get a plane too :) How much did the plane and fpv gear cost together and how long did it take for you to master being able to fly the plane?
I'm flying RC since 3 years, practicing with a RC flight simulator.
This was my first FPV flight, it's like playing a Microsoft Flight Simulator, but the start is hard when you can't move because of the goggles and all the cables. It's a long way to go to be able to handle the technology. You need much time but I'm a student ;-)
Very Nice flying

did you ever find out what that thing did?
AirForcedude5 1 year ago
@AirForcedude5 the plane stalled at the end of the video
muni86 1 year ago
@muni86 no lol you left an annotation on your video wondering what that that bar on the right side of the osd did. did you ever find out?
AirForcedude5 1 year ago
@AirForcedude5 ahh it's the direction in degrees: 360°= 0° = North

Is it that much interfence when you fly?! :o

@petter268 yes with 2,4 GHz in the city, I have 1,2 GHz now, much better

are you watching the flite thru your laptop? i bought the ezcap and i cant get it to my laptop.

@magicmike1122
No through the video goggles, there are problems maybe with Windows 7

Sorry don't know, I'm recording with a notebook

What kind of range can you control the plane to?
ammosmith 2 years ago
RC: 600 m without antenna extension (my middle-class receiver)
Up to 5000-10000m with antenna extension to wavelength/2 (did not try, other pilots did)
Video: about 1,5 km without external receiver at high altitude (over 150m)
Up to 10 km with external patch antenna, 2,4 Ghz 500mW
Long Range Systems like the one from FPVSystems, com: 50 km

What is the cost of such a thing and can a camera like this be fitted to other types of RC aircraft?

The RC transmitter was not fully charged too.
