Susan is soooo loud. She is always screaming its so annoying. And the Doctor is so un compassionate to people. But im still going to watch because i want to know the whole story from the beginning. =) woo Doctor Who
...And this was the first time where the Doctor distributed some of his usual epic pwnage. Well, it doesn't take much to outsmart a cavemen, but even the Doctor had to start with small things. XD You can't tell me it wasn't cool how hes all calm and not impressed in the slightest.
And then, him and Ian are trying to put some sense into the cavemen's heads XD
What you are seeing is the old reliable "bow and drill" method of fire making. the stick that he is moving back and forth has a string or twine on it and is turning the stick that is verticle being held against the log with the rock. "The more you know!"
is it jsut me or is ian moving one stick back and forth in mid air, not touching the other stick. Isn't he suppsoed to be rotating the vertical stick? how is he going to get fire?
No just what your expectations of clever is. Back then this would have been the pinacle of clever. Now if you ever get the chance watch the three doctors and notice the difference between him and the 2nd and 3rd incarnation.
The women, I mean Barbara and Susan, are so weak in these episodes. It seems almost expected but still, it surprises me how dependent they are. Susan is always screaming and Barbara is always crying, so while I like looking back at the original episodes, I'm not a fan of their portrayal of women.
I agree, to modern eyes it feels so stereotypical. Oddly enough, it seems like the portryal of Hur the cavewoman is actually better than that of Barbara and Susan. I wouldn't mind it if they were more like Hur.
Hi, My name is Amy Bates. I agree with you there. But the teacher voice is different then David Tennant. Are you talking about how the teacher wears his coat. I know because David Tennant always wears his sportcoat all the time and off also. I'll put one thumbs up on your thumbs.
Its so hard to find any thing classic doctor who when your in the us :/. I was so happy when i found these!!!!!!! Thank u sooo much for posting, i hope your going to post as much of the seires as u could.
A lot of the classic episodes, particular from the Tom Baker era onward, are being released on DVD. Unfortunately, a lot of the 60s and 70s episodes were trashed by the BBC as part of their standard archival process back then.
10:05 so THAT's how the neanderthals were supposed to make fire: teamwork!

@ekculnah: I think Sarah-Jane was the first serious female character in Doctor Who.

I'm exploring the Doctor who origins, and it's great to see the episodes available.

I got hooked on the new series, and came to find these out of curiosity, and am pleased that someone took the time to add a few of the classics.
