Maybe a couple of years ago Zune HD would have been a worthy opponent to the iPod touch but the thing is Apple releases a new generation every year, each one an improvement on the last. Zune doesn't.
Anyone who thinks the Zune HD is better than the iPod is either very ignorant or just an Apple hater. The iPod touch is far superior in quality to ANY portable media player on the market. Apple haters are just afraid to admit that. I have tried out both and tested them side by side.
I feel Microsoft was ahead of their day on this one... release this commercial on today's viewers, now that Tron was released, and I have a feeling it would do very well. Plus the song is kick ass.
I wouldn't have thought to put orange, hot pink, purple, and blue together... but those colors look REALLY good together on a black background, especially with the Zune HD's amazing screen contrast.
iv had a zune n a ipod but honestly i think ipod is better, zune is better then the nano but the ipod touch has so many apps n camera n youtube, thers much more 2 do on the ipod touch device then ther is the zune, although audiosurf(zune app) can never b replaced by tap tap(hate that game), in my opinion zune is better if u want something cheaper(in price) but better then the nano
I just got the 32gb Zune HD last week. So far I LOVE IT! Right now I'm looking for a docking station with speakers so that I can listen without headphones. I've searced Amazon and some other sites. Do any of you who owns a Zune HD have any suggestions?

I was thinking of getting a zune hd like... 24 hours ago. But then... I saw the Ipod Touch 4th Generation with the camera 4 hours ago. Now the Zune HD is a blur. Haha, Have you seen it though?? i am currently an owner of an ipod touch, but i think my next music device will be a zune HD. they bumped the price down a few days ago and introduced a 64gb version.
@ken936 the ipod touch is way thinner and the app store is huge with over 200 000 apps. the itunes store almost has every song known to america and you can use itunes with both mac and pc. Zune only functions with pc. Also the iphone os 3.1 is clean and easy to use
The Zune HD is equally if not even more thin, the iPod touch simply designs it's body more curved. The applications store I personally could care less about, to be quite frank, half of the apps available cost money and are pointless. I'm not going to pay two dollars for the ability to unlock my car by ipod. I have keys. The Zune's apps are free. Itunes is very non-user friendly, It lays out your music in a spreadsheet form, and loads choppy.

hhaha its not at all like that. i have a zune hd and a zune pass.. $15 for unlimited access to billions of songs and u keep ten songs a month of ur choice. if you discontinue the pass.. all your songs go away accept the ten that you choose to keep per month. you can sync any song in ur zune software to your zune at anytime.. you can also use wireless to sync with your pc as well.
@RougeRena Zune pass= unlimited songs for subscription time, keep 10 songs per month. Which i pretty awesome, because basically you can listen to as much songs as you want.
I say this is a more appealing player if music is more important to you than having a mess load of "apps". It also a an oled screen that has to be seen in person. And the nvidia tegra chip will keep it far superior to other players in terms of hardware.
There are some issues right no, but its nothing that some future firmware updates cant do. The 4.3 update already accelerated the internet browser.
I prefer it myself, primarily because of the Zune pass. I'm thinking about getting one soon, and it's sure to start iTouch vs Zune arguments up with friends.
Makes the iTouch seem outdated almost. I wish the internet it had was a bit better, but it's terrific none-the-less. I can't wait to see what ever Apple does to the iTouch in return.
zune hd is WAAAAYYY better than ipod touch. plus even though zune came way later than the ipod, it was first, in comparison to an ipod nano and ipod classic, to have fm radio. to get ahead, apple just added fm radio and camera 1 year later. zune hd can play hd radio right off the bat without purchasing an app to do just that. ipod touch cant even play hd movies or video which is retarded.
I agree 100%. But it does have a few draw backs which in a sense makes the iPod Touch better (not that it IS better) firstly, there are adds before you open every app', I've got the Zune pass and it still plays add's! iPod has more, and better app's (for now), plus iPod has an SDK (software development kit) so you can make and sell your own. (I think Microsoft says they're working on one right now) Either way though, I adore the Zune's interface, and how it's integrated with the Xbox and PC.

there is one thing that keeps Zune HD in second place... FLASH SUPPORT. if it had flash, then it would kill KILL the itouch. im still planning to buy one on black friday.
i like zune and all but.. hands down, ipod touch is the best. there are thousands of apps that are so much fun, ranging from games to applications that are useful. plus the internet is way better and cover flow is awesome. ipod touch has everything you need.
but if you just want a music player with hd and a video player then go ahead get the zune hd. i say ipod touch is worth it in the long run!
I've ha my iTouch for a year now and after the first 2 weeks every single app became retarded. Once you experience the touch screen for a little it no longer becomes special, and none of the app that are useful can be used without internet which is no help in school when I'm bored. I'm regretting not waiting and getting the HD. The internet on the touch is very pointless since it need wifi, so why wouldn't you just get on a regular computer. Only useful app is Dictionary that saved my grades
the ipod is only better wen it comes to apps and internet... other than that the Zune HD is a much better product.... the screen may be smaller on the HD but it is soooo much clearer that the size makes barely any difference... i'll say this... if you want apps and internet get a touch, but if you are a music and video person get the HD....

The Zune HD was made to directly compete with the Itouch. Its hardware is far superior to that of the Itouch yet its inferior when it comes to software. And thats why I think its a waste of money. The apps play a HUGE role in portable media nowadays and microsoft has done very little to attract that audience and those of us who purchased a ZuneHD have been let down by the small amount of apps.
The limited number of apps doesn't make this a useless device at all. The Zune team has been working hard trying to bring the highly demanded apps such as twitter and facebook. With the imminent launch of WinMo 7 coming soon it is also very likely that they will use the same app platform thus speeding the development of apps for both the ZuneHD and WM7. I bought the ZuneHD for its features seeing as I didn't use apps that much on my iPhone.
That's good, Microsoft's taking a step in the right direction. =] One of the biggest things that attracted me to is was the Zune pass. (double check that the software's compatible with Leopard first) Also, it's very well integrated with Windows 7, and the Xbox. (Both of which I have)
Get a touch it is better! It has more apps a larger screen better internet better sound better apps So it has no radio! overall it is better Please take my advice and get the touch!
They do make a lot of good products, but most of them are inferior to Microsoft's. Plus, they have the iPod, which they did an amazing job on. I wonder if the Zune will ever compete with it. I hope so. =]
I personally prefer the Zune, but both are amazing products and you'd be pleased with either one. The Zune's got High def' radio, and can play high def' videos (not an HD screen). It has very few app's so far, and there's n ad' that plays before each one. The touch has faster wifi, and can play youtubes. (not to mention a better browser) The Zune's a bit cheaper per Gig' of storage, and has the Zune pass. 15$ a month, you get 10 song downloads, and unlimited ones that last for subscription time.

Everyone has their own opinion and I respect that. Personally, I would go with the Zune. I see the Zune as a more dedicated PMP whereas the ipod touch is more of a little computer.
The touch has better games, more apps, a better browser, where the zune has a better screen, better quality audio, HD radio, and HD output.
Like I said. I'm personally leaning towards the Zune since audio and video quality are my greatest concerns in a PMP.
well why dont you look into a zune 120? i meen the screen is the same size as that of an ipod touch, and it has a longer battery than the ipod classic

If you happen to open one, it will have 'For our Princess' inscribed inside. Google the reason why and it makes the ZHD and MS appear just a bit more 'human'.
there is a reason good why the zune hd and the ipod touch use flash over a hd (hard drive). the main being that it is imposable to use a touch screen that is siting right on top of a hard drive. im not sure why, something to do with the spining of the hd. but i don't understand why it wouldn't be all that hard to put more flash memory in them. u can get a 16gig micro sd card 4 around $20. if u seen how small they r, one would think that it would be easy to put more memory in them!
or maybe because HDD's have moving parts, they wont last long in a portable device when they're tossed around. it's like shaking a CD player, the disc inside the HDD will skip and scratch itself

Really it depends on what you prefer.
If you want to use 100000000 shitty apps and 9 decent apps, the iTouch is your thing.
If You want Music, Video, and Pictures in HD quality with a sexy device and a beautiful layout, but with barley any apps, the Zune HD is yours.
So really, it's up to you. If you wnat anothing gameboy Advanced with no buttons and a touchscreen, get an iTouch.
If you want media. Get a Zune HD

zune hd is WAAAAYYY better than ipod touch. plus even though zune came way later than the ipod, it was first, in comparison to an ipod nano and ipod classic, to have fm radio. to get ahead, apple just added fm radio and camera 1 year later. zune hd can play hd radio right off the bat without purchasing an app to do just that. ipod touch cant even play hd movies or video which is retarded.

I agree 100%. But it does have a few draw backs which in a sense makes the iPod Touch better (not that it IS better) firstly, there are adds before you open every app', I've got the Zune pass and it still plays add's! iPod has more, and better app's (for now), plus iPod has an SDK (software development kit) so you can make and sell your own. (I think Microsoft says they're working on one right now) Either way though, I adore the Zune's interface, and how it's integrated with the Xbox and PC.

I agree to Eddy01300 i got the ipod touch 32GB 3rd generation with the 50% faster procesor and i say its the best ipod touch ever and im glad it killed the Zune HD haha no offence zune fans. im sorry but the zune came in 2 years to late when the1st gen ipod touch came then zune came in 2nd. i like zune and all but.. hands down, ipod touch is the best. there are thousands of apps that are so much fun, ranging from games to applications that are useful. plus the internet is way better and cover flow is awesome. ipod touch has everything you need.
but if you just want a music player with hd and a video player then go ahead get the zune hd. i say ipod touch is worth it in the long run!

I've ha my iTouch for a year now and after the first 2 weeks every single app became retarded. Once you experience the touch screen for a little it no longer becomes special, and none of the app that are useful can be used without internet which is no help in school when I'm bored. I'm regretting not waiting and getting the HD. The internet on the touch is very pointless since it need wifi, so why wouldn't you just get on a regular computer. Only useful app is Dictionary that saved my grades

the ipod is only better wen it comes to apps and internet... other than that the Zune HD is a much better product.... the screen may be smaller on the HD but it is soooo much clearer that the size makes barely any difference... i'll say this... if you want apps and internet get a touch, but if you are a music and video person get the HD....

The Zune HD was made to directly compete with the Itouch. Its hardware is far superior to that of the Itouch yet its inferior when it comes to software. And thats why I think its a waste of money. The apps play a HUGE role in portable media nowadays and microsoft has done very little to attract that audience and those of us who purchased a ZuneHD have been let down by the small amount of apps.

The limited number of apps doesn't make this a useless device at all. The Zune team has been working hard trying to bring the highly demanded apps such as twitter and facebook. With the imminent launch of WinMo 7 coming soon it is also very likely that they will use the same app platform thus speeding the development of apps for both the ZuneHD and WM7. I bought the ZuneHD for its features seeing as I didn't use apps that much on my iPhone.

That's good, Microsoft's taking a step in the right direction. =] One of the biggest things that attracted me to is was the Zune pass. (double check that the software's compatible with Leopard first) Also, it's very well integrated with Windows 7, and the Xbox. (Both of which I have)

They do make a lot of good products, but most of them are inferior to Microsoft's. Plus, they have the iPod, which they did an amazing job on. I wonder if the Zune will ever compete with it. I hope so. =]

I personally prefer the Zune, but both are amazing products and you'd be pleased with either one. The Zune's got High def' radio, and can play high def' videos (not an HD screen). It has very few app's so far, and there's n ad' that plays before each one. The touch has faster wifi, and can play youtubes. (not to mention a better browser) The Zune's a bit cheaper per Gig' of storage, and has the Zune pass. 15$ a month, you get 10 song downloads, and unlimited ones that last for subscription time.

Everyone has their own opinion and I respect that. Personally, I would go with the Zune. I see the Zune as a more dedicated PMP whereas the ipod touch is more of a little computer.
The touch has better games, more apps, a better browser, where the zune has a better screen, better quality audio, HD radio, and HD output.
Like I said. I'm personally leaning towards the Zune since audio and video quality are my greatest concerns in a PMP.

Hole the power button down for 3 seconds, then slide to power off.
Restart the zune by holding down power for 10 seconds.

there is a reason good why the zune hd and the ipod touch use flash over a hd (hard drive). the main being that it is imposable to use a touch screen that is siting right on top of a hard drive. im not sure why, something to do with the spining of the hd. but i don't understand why it wouldn't be all that hard to put more flash memory in them. u can get a 16gig micro sd card 4 around $20. if u seen how small they r, one would think that it would be easy to put more memory in them!
