Maybe religion is not the answer this documentary clearly shows it hasn't worked and millions of people get persecuted through it. What it does show is that too much power in one person is not good. Saying that islam is the answer just upsets other religions.
@frythefriedzombie Islam hasn't failed it was the people who failed Islam. Muslims were great when they adhered to Islam and only by moving away from Islam that they failed. The opposite of course for christianity and other religions. I think if people want Islam and the Quran to be their constitution, who are we to decide for them? are we so insecure that our own ideology might not look as palatable when compered to Islam when these people apply it properly?
An ideal state for Muslim countries would be something that incorporates freedom, market sentiment, and scope for government control. Purely utilizing Shariah Law like Iran or Taliban Afghanistan has also proven to be equally ineffective. Times are changing and the law needs to be flexible and competent enough to meet the surging demands of the people. Democracy not Theocracy is the answer to this debate.
@musood6630 sorry but neither Taliban or Iran are using the sharia law. Sharia is a whole system and you can use just portions of it and ignore the rest and expect it to work. You can't drive a car on 2 wheels and expect it to function properly. Sharia as put forth in the Quran and Sunnah is far superior to any man made laws and it will never be rivaled even remotely.

The first Caliphates were called Rightful Caliphs. They were the shield of the nation. Caliphs don't hold power to themselves, they borrow it from everyone in their nation to be able to defend it.
The Rashidun did not get into power because their father was a leader, they became the head because they were chosen to be by a shura (council of leaders who represented their tribes).

Showing how Islam spread, without the horrors like other civilizations, with the conquerors voluntarily becoming part of the conquered. Showing how other superpowers died out and their 'thoughts/way of life' dying with them, but how Islamic creed/thoughts still remain, and are stirring to rise again...as prophesied by Prophet Muhammad(saws).
Inshallah we will reestablish Muslim unity. It begins in changing ourselves into productive non-oppressive people who follow Islam and establish social justice.
I liked the documentary except its not really a documentary on the history of civilizations, but more a pamphlet to islam. Shame, it was really good.
