Horowitz was undoubtedly a great pianist but to me this version seems flat or lifeless compared to that recorded by Dinu Lipatti. Lipatti set a very high bar for Chopin's music.
This is very precise, and Horowitz plays it beautifully. But this is not my favourite rendition. He's too conservative with his right hand notes, holds too much back. I've always likened this piece to droplets of water falling, and a more legato approach suits that better. But this is just me.
