Actually, i made that comment after working with drummers much better than him. youre probably one one those guys who post videos of themselves failing to play to a click track on here
@jimmyjohnsman1 that's why you are whatching videos on youtube instead of being rich and famous, like Pridgen. Come on! do you think HE would ever want to play with you, mr nobody?
@hugo899 lol... it's easy to tell who's educated and who's not on here. congrats! you have thrown two logical fallacies at me at once.
red herring: has nothing to do with the subject at all- my musical abilities (which are amazing btw) have nothing to do with the fact that thomas pridgen can't drum.
ad hominem: a personal attack, also having nothing to do with the subject at hand.
I'll bet you can't even drum like pridgen. Go practice your instrument and polish your argument, loser.
@jimmyjohnsman1 Sure you are a talented musician... you wouldn't recognize talent even if it was banging your butt. You must be one of those pretencious hipsters...
@jimmyjohnsman1 I have never EVER heard or seen any amazing musician call themselves amazing or say they have amazing musical skills, so, based on the fact that you did so, and the fact that you're saying Thomas Pridgen "can't drum", you must be 1) a troll, 2) an absolutely terrible musician, 3) a delusional hipster, or 4) all of the aforementioned.
Love Juan Alderete's playing here and in Racer X. I was always surpried that he took the gig with Mars Volta, just because he seems so much more proficient than the other mucisians.
@ralphyetmore I love Racer X too but, TMV has in soul what they lack in chops and "proficiencey" not to say that they are too shabby. Youtube "Deantoni Parks" and tell me he's not a better drummer than this guy or marco minneman or whoever.
@yehigota5inchtaint Agreed on the issue of "soul", but I have to be honest and say that's a matter of perspective and taste. It's hard to say between Parks and Travis. Travis is all legs and not impressive with the arms. Parks seems to be very proficient in the arms - doing paradiddles and dynamically speaking - but doesn't do much leg work that I can hear. But Parks is much more proficient than I ever noticed before your reply. Thanks for turning me onto that.
Just because he went to "berklee" lol does not make a him a good drummer. He's not all what everyones makes to be. All hype and no delivery. he could of at least used John Theo.
@weirdalyankosin .Check out some vids of Chad Smith and Flea. They both keep up with each other even if its a bass video or a drummer video.Just because someone knows how to double that doesnt make them a better drummer.I can do doubles on a single pedal all day but I really dont think Im the next Jon Theodore for that matter.Anywho what I'm trying to say is his groove is to simple.I never said hes slow,I'm saying he could of done more fills or chops to follow Juans amazing finger work.
@djkozmik scott travis is a pretty fuckin' top notch drummer man! and if you are saying he is too slow listen to painkiller by JP he does some pretty sweet double bass there... and also the point of a bass solo is it is a BASS SOLO the drumming is not supposed to be at equal speeds, just for timing and accompaniment!!!
@djkozmik Scott Travis did his job--which is to provide a steady beat. Juan Alderete is free to do quick fills since he's in the spotlight for soloing. If you went to Racer X concerts in the past, you'd know that Juan ONLY wanted Scott to provide a steady beat for his bass solos. So there's no need for Scott to keep up w/ whatever Juan is doing.
@djkozmik you have to listen to scott play before you can comment on him, he has influenced a lot of drummers. john alderete is a very talented bass player his METAL playing is unreal, and he can play any style

@djkozmik Man, Chad Smith? Well, he may be a good drummer, but is nowhere close to Scott Travis. The man is one of the best drummers around.

hes leaving the drummer behind with all those quick fills......he could of used a better drummer for this.
