It is EWR- I was based there for a long time and the hallway they walk out on is Newark,N.J. not IAD. Plus the automatic doors- the way they are placed and the fixtures on the posts...
Well duh...IAD is a united hub, but you have to look at the ceiling to realize that its EWR. IAD might have very similar looking ticket counters, but IAD has a flat ceiling structure as opposed to what is shown in the ad, which is more cathedral looking.
Wow...The only thing that has changed at Dulles since then is United's logo. Literally everything from the desks to the doors are the same. While I don't fly to/from there often, I connect at Dulles at least four or five times a year. It's a nice airport.
Has anyone been flying on United Airlines before.

And that's an L-1011 at Gate 2. You only see it for a split-second, but it's definitely the L-1011.

@heytallguy14 the L-1011 was a great airplane, but it sure looked funky as hell compared to the DC-10 :P

what, how is making out park of flying?!
juanpablofx 2 years ago
Dear All,
I have some humble question about psychology and sociology:
*Why do we love flying?
**How could we define the magic of flying?
*How could the magic of flying related to American Dream or American Way of Life"? (This is the believe in 60's to 80's)
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstorms!!! :)

The guy reminds me of Dan Akroyd's character from the movie "Trading places"
phonedial9 3 years ago 3
Thank you; I'm glad I'm not the only person who thinks that. Maybe United and its ad agency were trying to play off of his character.

@londonclub777
Even in the 80's those were considered nerdy - I'm pretty sure that's why it's part of the act of two nerds making out.

I agree, that's Newark airport.
If you've ever been to EWR, you know that ceiling. It's distinctive.

Wow! Thats Newark Airport! It's sad how much they've downgraded service there.

No. It's Dulles in Virginia. It's been one of United's biggest hubs for quite a while.

I agree...I was just there...it looks exactly the same, with signage changes.

@speakeasy365 that crazy woman seen after the commercial is from 'Trading Spouse'.

That IS corny... I can't decide which one's cornier: this commercial, or "1982 United Airlines Commercial" featuring Nancy on her first day.
