  • I used to smoke Newports...... how come I never ended up on a nice tropical island like he did?

  • Mmmmm. Cigarettes.

  • Yes, the fantastic delusions of middle-aged men whose coronary occlusions diminish and destroy their neural pathways and semblance of reason.

  • The guy in this clip is Ted Brown. The voice of all the Campbell Soup commercials on radio and TV and the biggest commercial voice over announcer in the country. He was also the biggest afternoon DJ in NYC at the time. He was on WNEW-AM1130 and on several other stations. I worked with him. He liked to gamble but he didn't smoke. He knew better.

  • I love newports... it's sweet to see old white people smoking them back in the day. (and yes, im white)

  • yeah, too bad they started putting "black" tobacco in them

    lol

  • haha. no kidding though. of course, whoever told the blacks that there is minty tobacco was really on to something. because now, blacks count for more than 60% of all Newport and KOOL sales. how about THAT? can't make insurance payments, but they can smoke with class. only in America. HAHA

  • i dont like what you said about black people cause bitch i bet you cant even make a house payment bitch i got a house i own and a car i own and i smoke bitch@Liveandletskate666

  • @dfillydaking I smoke newports also... annnnd, I pay all my bills. (lousy as it is to admit) do I need to mention that i'm white? or that my friend Mike who is very black posted that comment? but of course, typical african american rage makes you want to call me out. I understand, but you should REALLY consider expanding past the racial borders that differentiate us from one another.

  • I thought cigarrette ads were banned in 1969?

  • 1971.

  • The question is what was he REALLY smoking.

  • Hey, I know that tropical paradise...it's Kumawniwannalayya!!!

  • What the hell, where's the surgeon general warning.

  • This was first seen during 1965, and was one of a series of Newport spots where a somewhat middle-aged man "interacted" with a very pretty girl {and guy} pitching Newports on his TV set- the following year, the slogan became "Newport tastes fresher", and one ad featured a girl on a beach coming to life on an outdoor ad to a guy waiting for a bus...

  • He looks like my uncle red pald jacket black horn rim glasses, always smoking.
