@georgeporty if you know where carlile is or what it is we only saw 2 this year out of thousands of cars. they are very rare around here. i think they are like that everywhere though
The glasspacks are right under the cab with long tailpipes to the rear. When I got it the tailpipes were only about a foot long and it was much louder. The long pipes mellowed the sound.
@georgeporty yes they are my friend. i have the 62' with the 170c.i. straight 6. i found "cherry bomb" glass packs online ranging from 19.99 to 49.99.
@oldskoolsickboy4life i want cherry bomb glass packs for my 61 t-bird. any idea on what size to buy and will i have to buy exhaust pipes? was the install relatively easy?
They are cherry bomb glasspacks. They have been on there about 20 years, so not sure they are still in business. Bought them in Kansas, also has some on a 69 Torino, 351, that sounded pretty badass. That was in Oklahoma. Thank you for the comment.
Sounds Badass!..There is NO V8 that sounds like a Y-block V8! I'm trying to get my landlord to put a Y-block into his hot rod...He has a small chevy in it now.:(I told him to take that thing out and put it in a farm truck...Y-Blocks are god!
The then new 1957 FORD Ranchero was introduced & unveiled by FOMOCO November 12th, 1956. The very first car was presented at Quitman Georgia, at a celebration honoring a 21 year Wesley Patrick, chosen in 56 as the farmer of the year in America. Young Patrick was given car No 1. That was the start of the Ranchero legend. Great posting more pleaseeee. Love that sound mind blowing. FORDROAD Australia.
You can go to jaylenosgarage web site and to the "your garage" section and enter ranchero. Several will come up but you can tell mine by the blue/white color. Thanks for the comment.
Notice. No Smoke.

where did you get those exhaust tips ?
mattewTF82 3 years ago
I bought them on eBay. They split from a single to dual pipe. Several designs are available. Measure your exhaust pipe.

Your car kicks ass, dude.

Just measure inlet and outlet diameters and existing muffler lengh. Go on line to Flo-Pro Proformance Exhaust for some part numbers.

True. This ranchero would look super-badass with another set of those tips on the other side!!
I get where natedogg is coming from though...you see those tips sticking way out on some gay looking accord or civic.

Sounds awesome. I'm building a Y-block myself, and I'm just wondering ... did you use the short glasspacks or the long ones?
RulerOfEverything 4 years ago
The glass packs are cherry bombs, about 24" long. I put dual tips on each tailpipe at the bumper.
georgeporty 4 years ago
Love that y block note. Check out mine

Very cool, sounds a lot like my '57 Fairlane 500 with
292 that I just had new Thrush glasspacks put on.
Sweeeeet!

Nice.
I just got a '58 Edsel (E-400 engine), and I'm going to have them put dual glasspacks on it too.
WpgLawyer 4 years ago
I did have shorty tailpipes but it was too loud, so I ran tail pipes to the rear & added dual exhaust tips on each side.
georgeporty 4 years ago
From the unique sound of the starter to the equally unique exhaust note, you just can't beat a Y-Block Ford!!! Pure V-8 nirvana...
