I used to like Twilight, but not anymore. I don't hate Twilight, but True Blood is way more addicting and I got hooked just watching a few episodes. I don't usually like vampire stories nowadays,I prefer Bram Stoker and Anne Rice's stories, but True Blood really entertained me :)

There isn't really a single defining mythology for vampires..especially in modern stories..twilight, true blood, and interview with the vampire all departed from certain myths while holding to others...true blood vamps aren't affected by crossed or holy water and can walk on consecrated ground (churches), in interview they weren't affected by crossed either..and in many older myths, vamps were only weakened by daylight, not burnt to ash...I'll end with: True Blood is the best show on HBO!!

True Blood OTOH, is full of humour, has tons of great, well developed, often complex characters, funny dialogues, there's conflict and plot twists, it manages to be completely campy and silly but also clever and sometimes even poignant without taking itself too seriously....in short, while not perfect by any means TB is just a plain FUN show! And there's nothing like it on tv.
You are free to enjoy your Twilight and deem it original and different, I'll just keep my TB and we'll all be happy!

I read two twilight books, saw the movies and found them dull, lifeless, badly written and devoid of any truly original idea. The plot is almost unexistent, there's no psichological introspection and no believable development or depth in the characters.
It doesn't have anything to do with the fact that it's aimed at young people, or with the vampires being "true vamps" or not, to me they're just BAD books in general.
In my oppinion you just cant make the same thing that a person years before you made like for example dracula, Trueblood in a way is just like it full of the same thing.
in Twilight the vampires dont burn in the sun but reflects the light so what i mean its better way to catch appeal also the love story is deep i kinda like that. Twilight catches my appeal and im a 18 year old guy i see that a large majority of the people i know and also who my friends know are Twilight fans and thats alot of people. Twilight is dull and depressing. Everyone walks around with mopey looks on their faces and complain non-stop. The story line is way too basic. There's no need to pay close attention.. You don't get into anymore than 3 characters. While Trueblood has a colorful assortment of characters, plots, and twists. Twilight is for children. Trueblood is for adults. So if you're 12, it's understandable why you'd choose Twilight, because Trueblood is not appropriate for anyone under 18 anyway.

No. I can ask someone on the streets if they know what Twilight is and they'll either say "Twilight ZONE?" or "No." You're right incidentally, True Blood is much too new for many people to know about it, not to mention it's on HBO and not everyone owns that channel. Stephanie Meyer should take some lessons from Charliene Harris and Anne Rice. If there's no human blood drinking or conflicts going on between vampires that lead to deaths, then really you're reading a story (twilight) about pussified vampires.

True Blood is based on the Sookie Stackhouse series. The first four books were published between 2001-2004. Twilight was published in 2005. The first Sookie Stackhouse book Dead until dark came out 4 years before Twilight! So Charlaine Harris (author of Sookie series) wrote the whole vampire love story before the author of Twilight.
Comparing the True blood series vs The Twilight movies come on overall True blood is better quality! The acting in Twilight is just awful, the story line in the movie is jumpy,the action scenes are worthless. There's just so much more to true blood. The story line has more meaning and not to mention all the actors are way hotter then the pricey little pretty boys in Twilight.

You enjoy the series, I'm happy for you. But in terms of writing, plot, and characterization--True Blood has much more quality. Unfortunately Meyer isn't a very good author.

The connections made it twilight are very week, the same as the character development. The way the author wrote Bella was to make girls feel like they could be her however in doing that she lacks all individuality needed for an actual store line, making the whole thing seem tasteless and fake. Great fiction writers make you forget it's fiction. ;)

Twilight isn't very dark and I think dark when I think vampires, and most people do. It's just a matter of opinion.

Yes I'm a die hard True Blood fan but I don't see the point in getting mad at people for having a different opinion. :) I have read the Twilight books, and they're not bad. It's mainly the films I'm not nuts about. Although I love wolves so I must admit I love to watch the scenes with giant wolves.

Twilight is dull and depressing. Everyone walks around with mopey looks on their faces and complain non-stop. The story line is way too basic. There's no need to pay close attention.. You don't get into anymore than 3 characters. While Trueblood has a colorful assortment of characters, plots, and twists. Twilight is for children. Trueblood is for adults. So if you're 12, it's understandable why you'd choose Twilight, because Trueblood is not appropriate for anyone under 18 anyway.

No. I can ask someone on the streets if they know what Twilight is and they'll either say "Twilight ZONE?" or "No." You're right incidentally, True Blood is much too new for many people to know about it, not to mention it's on HBO and not everyone owns that channel. Stephanie Meyer should take some lessons from Charliene Harris and Anne Rice. If there's no human blood drinking or conflicts going on between vampires that lead to deaths, then really you're reading a story (twilight) about pussified vampires.

Sure, some things are different from movie to movie/ book to book. But there are things they usually do have in common, which puts them under the category of vampires. Twilight is so unoriginal, very few people seem to realize that the relationship between Edward and Bella is like a mirror image of the relationship of Sookie and Bill's. And also a lot of people don't seem to realize that True Blood is based on a book series that was written way before twilight was. (since i'm posting this, i love how both the book series and the television series are both realistic and original when it comes to politics and connections with the anne rice series)

True Blood is based on the Sookie Stackhouse series. The first four books were published between 2001-2004. Twilight was published in 2005. The first Sookie Stackhouse book Dead until dark came out 4 years before Twilight! So Charlaine Harris (author of Sookie series) wrote the whole vampire love story before the author of Twilight.

Comparing the True blood series vs The Twilight movies come on overall True blood is better quality! The acting in Twilight is just awful, the story line in the movie is jumpy,the action scenes are worthless. There's just so much more to true blood. The story line has more meaning and not to mention all the actors are way hotter then the pricey little pretty boys in Twilight.

True Blood is better. It isn't just about romance, it actually has a story line. Sookie is STRONG independent woman unlike Belluh. It has more creatures besides vamps and weres. Every creature has a weakness and can die, unlike twicrappers.

In fact, it would have been more productive of the author had she created a new species, rather than tarnished the reputation of another.
You enjoy the series, I'm happy for you. But in terms of writing, plot, and characterization--True Blood has much more quality. Unfortunately Meyer isn't a very good author.

She is looking for normality and vampires give her the ability to date and not have her ability get in the way. Bella on the other hand is weak and tries to kill herself just to get her b/f back. A really good female role model. *eyes roll* Your right true blood is more for adults, having a real plot helps. ;)

The connections made it twilight are very week, the same as the character development. The way the author wrote Bella was to make girls feel like they could be her however in doing that she lacks all individuality needed for an actual store line, making the whole thing seem tasteless and fake. Great fiction writers make you forget it's fiction. ;)
