Born n raised in Kailua, Oahu. From the moment (mid 70's) I got on my knees on my morey boogie--the smaller of the two models, then--at half point, Sandies Beach, I was hooked. In a year I had a 4'6" Lightning Bolt (Jerry Lopez shape) with twin fin box skegs. I never looked back. Now I ride Blast quads, cuz Alan McCray knows his biz. Grew up surfing north shore but now am stuck inland in Hood River, Oregon. Thank God for mountain biking and wicked fast downhill trails nearby. Good video.
@MrGarthHardin ............the re introduction of the retro shapes and fin configurations is why. I see them and some of them are very similar to my boards, even quads like Blast are. I've recently seen amazing fin/shape combos with surf boards but Blast will always propel me down the line. My brother lives really close to Kirra and Coolangata with his woman and says there is swell abundance and absence of habitation south of the border....lucky bath-o-mustard.
Great video. I kneeboarded big rock in La Jolla as a kid, switched to stand up in late seventies and now back in the womb on a kneeboard and totally loving it after 30 years, getting shacked at jalama, the strand and spots in between and offshorre. Life is good. I had a local kid recreate an old lis fish I had, making it even better.
I'm sorry, what did you say? your words didn't register because i was too busy surfing, go have fun in your land-locked state in you house built of corn.
For all those who call this gay. Look back in time and realize that the father of the shortboard revolution, George Greenough was a kneeboarder.
It's really more efficient, you can get deeper easier, and you have more control beacuse of a lower center of gravity, you are closer to the wave. Cool stuff
I Love kneeboard

GAY! knee boarding is for crippled people only. if you are capable of standing on your own, then you should surf like a real man.
thetaman63 3 years ago
"If you are capable of standing on your own, then you should" stand up and follow the crowd.
P.S. Chilling with your homies sounds a little "GAY!"
