Thanks for a great video, we can see your perspective on dating in Japan, and be wary of evil Japanese women ha-ha! Anyway, what a pity that some of the women you met were actually looking only for English practice. I was wondering, have you studied Japanese culture? It's one of high context, meaning their message doesn't lie directly in what they say, but that you have to sift through the sand to find the real message. Maybe some of the women told you what they wanted, but in an indirect way.

@nohjadu it doesn't really matter, since all non-Japanese are gaijin in a sense - but my guess is that it is tough to find dates outside the big cities, but not impossible. I have another video with links (shout outs) to other J-vloggers and there are some black vloggers in the list - but I'm not sure how many are still actively vlogging.

First off I don't know whether or not this is true but I've heard that it's common in Japan (at least compared to the US) for teachers to secretly hook up with high school students. Is that true? (Not that I want to be doing that if I go).

For Japanese teachers to date their Japanese students? I'm sure it happens at times, but I doubt anymore than in the US. For a foreign ALT to date a current student? Again, I'm sure it has happened, but I never heard about it happening in my area.

although you say dates can be easy to get, taking that next step and finding the person right for you cannot be any easier then in your home country.. the language and culture barriers must make forming that long term bond extremely difficult!!! dates are great, but isn't the point of dating to find who is right for you? must be complicated finding true love on a different contingent!

sure - I've had ALT female friends that have dated Japanese guys. Usually they (the women) have to initiate and be a bit more assertive, as J-guys tend to be a bit shy around gaijin women, but that is a big generalization and a lot depends on how well the J-guy can speak English or how well the foreign gal can speak Japanese.

Japanese summer rain is not so bad... it's lukewarm...

I felt I was kinda attractive to Japanese women (of my age at least), I felt more popular than at home.

In an adult sense uninteresting, but by far the most fun group were the kids. 6-12yo girls simply loved me, climbed on my back, had me carry them around, swing them around with my arms... and I ended up being called "Kinnikuman" and "otokorashii". Great times. :-)

well, the one incident I have personal knowledge of was pretty innocent and the JET acted properly. I have heard of JETs being dismissed for sleeping with students, but I never knew any personally. That and drugs are about the only two things that mean automatic firing and deportation.

My buddy up north was an ALT at a high school for bad/dumb chicks. They used to flash the gash at him daily, and deep throat hot dogs and what not in his face at lunch.

He held his shit together for awhile, but finally he snapped and humped a couple of them. The last couple months he worked there, he went on the absolute warpath and nailed a bunch more.

I wouldn't be able to take that. I'd probably snap sooner than he did. Good thing I was a junior high JET.

From movies, anime, and reading blogs it sounds like their fairly conservative or traditional compared to USA's women when it comes to romance and sex. I got mixed messages from your vlog so I'm not sure what to think. It sounded like they're aggressive towards foreigners sexually. Should I be carrying a 20 pack of condoms with me at all times when In japan?

They are somewhat conservative unless they've been abroad, but that's a huge generalization.

Thanks for sharing honestly on the subject :-) I agree, the language barrier is a HUGE issue that a excited cross/cultural couple should take into account. After the inital hype dies down, you want a friend, and language can put a real wall up between you. So, learn language first (or the other party), be patient, and choose wisely. That said, cross-cultural relationships can be rich once you got the language issue down and if there is a lot of sacrifical love going both ways. :-) Peace

My doctor told me that diet coke is bad, because they use something else instead of sugar, and so your body doesn't get the sugar it expects and then you just get hungrier and hungrier and then go and eat candy or something.

The moral of the story is that one should drink regular coke instead of diet. Probably. Or just drink orange juice.

I think this is REALLY good advice to be careful.

When I lived in Japan I saw SO MANY japanese/foreigner relationships gone wrong.

One time this Australian guy came up to me and was like. "Crap man, you gotta help me.. I somehow got married to this Japanese woman, and we can't understand eachother, I think her name is....." kind of thing.

I've seen a lot of guys that don't speak Japanese but go up to random women saying "kimi ga suki yo" in hopes of eventualy finding some easy sex...

I will say that the social scene that is fostered in American schools, with school dances, etc., is completely absent from Japanese schools.
