fantaaaasy: I ve seen TMB maybe 5 times in 3 countries and i am a fan, but tommygun and others posted some vids here that show that the original Genesis was playing pretty much more powerful and more rude. That makes the difference.. and Collins said something like TMB plays maybe better than them in 1973 but they did not write the songs ;-)

Have seen the canadian band "The Musical Box" twice when they were in Germany. They covered the original old shows (Muscal Box, The Lamb) with the original material from the band. Great!!! Even Genesis-members said, they were better than the original ;-)

Compared to the old videos I must say, I could not see a difference.

Unfortunately I am too young (born 1975), so I never could see Genesis live.

I wish one could turn the time back.

There is/was a recent early-Genesis cover band called The Musical Box (I heard they may have broken up). I saw them 3 times a few years back...WOW!!! They were like stepping in a time machine. Every note and beat was just like the early albums. Even the fella singing sounded exactly like and acted like Gabriel (he even told the funny stories between songs). Anyway, it was the closest I came to ever seeing the REAL, early Genesis.

The one from 1980 sure looks like a complete two hour concert. I would highly recommend Six Hours Live - essential for any fan of

Gabriel-era Genesis, especially the Shepperton section.

The set-up Genesis used in '76 had advanced a great deal by '77. These days, it's much easier (and safer) to put on a laser show than it was in the 70's! I thought Genesis' laser show was awesome. AND-the fact that they came up with the idea of, and the name for, Vari-Lites, just make them superior artists in MY book! Long live you guys. But I will always love the 1972 thru 1977 line-up, though those last 2 years without Peter had the band composing their most outstanding compositions EVER!!!!

I'm loving Peter Gabriel era Genesis having recently started listening to it. Can't bring myself to even give Phil Collins as a lead singer a chance. Hate his solo stuff. The fact that i love the film American Psycho may have peppered my view of Phil Collins.

I've just got my Genesis double DVD set from Tommygun1028 and it f*cking excellent! It's a "MUST HAVE" for any Genesis fan! ..pity there's only 6 hours of it though & not enough from the 'Seconds Out' era.

Thanks, the closer the tour draws near this year, the more I stand behind this DVD. This is what people should be watching, not 'We Can't Dance'. Commercially, the 80s has a HUGE advantage of the 70s and if I don't grab this stuff from the obscurity and wave it in front of everybody's face - it dies

Great POP---NOT PROG---album, but Phil Collins had fully injected his solo style into Genesis, thus kind of...ruining it. "Dreaming While You Sleep" is nice though. I'm glad that Genesis underwent such drastic changes in music, because it's interesting to look at "Foxtrot", and then put on "Invisible Touch"...it's like...O.O
