Hope your not using that portable scanner while driving; State law says that "drivers in the state of CT age 18 and older need hands free accessories to legally use cell phones or other electronic devices while operating a motor vehicle". Only mounted scanners are legal to use while driving. Just saying...
I really hate digital voice. I find the sound annoying and you can't beat the good 'ol analog voice (providing the signal is strong, if the signal is weak FM is horrible)
Most of the time we are able to monitor, but encryption is used on occasion as well, and also Nextel cell phones & MDTs (mobile data terminals) to chat back & forth.
I want to start getting into digital scanners now but am having a tuff time deciding which one to buy all others have been Radio Shack what do you think of pro-96 verse Uniden also live in ct and what to listen to CSP Thanks !
I have not used the pro96, so I can't comment on it. You may want to check out GRE (who used to make scanners for Radshack). They are on their own now, & putting out good stuff. PSR500 & 600.
do these require programmng? like from the radio shack freq. book, or are they set to go fo ct. whats the major difference between this and any programmable scanner?
No. Take everthing you know about a regular scanner, and forget it. These are set up awesome, much like a regular portable radio, with systems & groups. I love it.
Yep, I know that. I just wished I was able to manually enter in a frequency on mine. It's OK it don't because this scanner is so fast at scanning. Top end of a band to the bottom in seconds. It's amazing! Nice video, thanks for sharing.
What I don't understand is why they don't use their encryption for stuff like that? I guess it wasn't code B enough for them to use the encryption that I know they're capable of.

does the bcd396t let you listen to p25 single conventional channels, or do I need the 396XT to do that
hondaus90 1 year ago
Well, all the p25 systems near me are trunked, so I can't say as far as single p25 channels, but the 396xt is a nice upgrade!

what frequency is troop L? I can't find them
harwintonambulance82 2 years ago
None of the troops are on a single freq. CSP is now trunked, so the freq changes all the time.
ct1396 2 years ago
i have a trunking scanner, how can i pick them up?
harwintonambulance82 2 years ago
im running a triple trunking scanner that i got from my work (work for a town) and i get some troop H and the "hotline" but thats it.
evomania8 3 years ago
what frequency are you using? i cant find a good state police freq. thanks alot
evomania8 3 years ago
You may be in a dead spot. CSP use a trunked system now, & I run the scanner in control channel only mode.

GrecoAlbo68 3 years ago
Major difference is these will decode & play that digitial voice (p25) software that some agencies are using, CSP being one of them.
