  • Inch actually had relatively small hands. The gap between the spheres was so short that men with larger hands couldn't get their whole hand into the gap to get a "full grip". Inch was.able to wedge his smaller hand into the gap and it would press on the sides of the spheres.

  • Today all world class strongmens have juiced, but this guy was definetely natural.

    incredible strength.

  • Wow thata soo cool.... Not his still fat and ugly :(

  • Chuck Norris' father

  • he is 72 in this video.

  • It's just too weird, looking at Thomas is like looking at an overweight out of shape gym coach from the 30's, and yet....he has no bulging shoulders to press, he doesn't have forearms the size of most arm wrestlers' forearms, that indicate gruesome grip strength...and that's just to name two things...

  • @poopalarge

That's true. I think, too, there are some underestimated aspects to his lifting. Thomas has huge hands. For "average" hands, the bar's circumference adds exponentially to the difficulty. For huge hands, it's akin to grabbing a normal bar. Secondly, Thomas has outstanding technique. He absolutely positions the lift perfectly.

  • Look up Karl Norberg who at age 70 was bench pressing over 400!

  • There were a lot of old timers that are lost in this juice, steriod, supplement age as they would be an embarassment to the moder day clowns. Mnay of these juices do live past 60 years of age.

  • Just goes to show that weightlifting is for everyone, regardless of age!

  • This man must have been at least 60 in this video. That's pretty damn good.

  • that was a two hands anyhow lift not a bent press

  • that was a two hands anyhow lift not a bent press

  • i heard he was still able to lift that even at 70 yrs old but i aint sure if thats true.

  • The press he did is called a bent press....a favorite of the old time strongmen. I believe it was Arthur Saxon that could bent press a barbell weighing over 300 LBS.

  • @RamblinAround it was not exactly a bent press but close and saxon did over 370

  • What does the dumbell weigh in this video?

  • Is this vid real?

  • kazmaier ripped this off the ground then pressed it

  • This dumbbell has a handle that is over 2 inches in diameter unlike many of the dumbbells used in other videos that are the standard diameter of just over 1 inch. This make a world of difference in the amount of weight one ca lift. Thomas Inch was able to dead lift around 670 pounds. In this video he is over 60 and well past his prime. I wonder what he could have done with the roids that most guys use today yet deny their use?

  • super strength athlete! who also had an official one hand push press of 171lbs! great vid

  • MARK HENRY.

  • That isn't the real Thomas Inch dumbell, It's lighter. Still one of the greatest strongmen of all time though:D

  • one strong old man who isnt juiced

  • and whats with all the comments about how its impossible to lift 80% of ones BW this way. It isnt uncommon to see a strong individual one handed DL 2 x BW.

  • Thats so freaking cool. Yea, Henry clean n jerked it but he definetly didnt have the control Inch had over it. Thats amazing.

  • shameful creature if it is a fake

  • This "guy" is famous oldtime

    strongman THOMAS INCH he

    made 50 years strength training

    espially his hands were very

    powerful.he's a f*cking legend

    of strongman.Nothing isn't fake

in this video.Mark Henry yes he

lifted the bell overhead with one

    arm like Inch.

  • There's nothing fake about this video. Strongmen of today are not strong in the lower arms like the strongmen of the old days.

  • That's not true mate. Brian Shaw can lift 850lb axle without straps and pinch 3x35lb plates in one hand for example, and do a farmers walk with an inch dumbell in either hand. Strongmen of today are just as strong,

  • Just as strong?

Their much stronger then the guys of old and many of the oldtime lifters records have been more or less frauds.

  • @CoC3 Yeah, after they practice and practice for years and years trying to copy the oldtime strongmen. They invent all kinds of devices to try and supplement their training. Plus they take all kinds of supplements, both natural and unnatural.

  • @CoC3 WAY stronger actually

  • it's fake

  • trust me......it's a much lighter replica......just see what it takes to lift that at what he claims is his weight is under 200 lbs.

Inch never proved he lifted the 172 lb dumbell. He claimed to have lifted it "hundreds of times" and never once on front of skeptics.......for example.....one time.....iNch was 210 lbs and claimed to have lifted the bell (82% his bodyweight)

If Mark Henry(390 lbs) tried to lift 82% his weight, that's 315 lbs. ImPOSSSIBLE> and btw, Mark Henry lifted it on camera

  • Mark Henry (yeah, THAT Mark Henry) lifted the Inch dumbell in 2002.

  • A stunning strentgh by old Thomas

    Inch who was always strong.

    but the beginning was fake.

every man who has been in training

should be 78kg deadlift with one hand.

  • It wasn't just the weight, the dumbell had a thick 2 1/2 inch handle, aside from guys like Andre the Giant or Dalip Singh there weren't many who could wrap their fingers fully around that, so lifting it requires massive grip strength as well as overall muscle.

  • I never saw a video of Inch's lift but this guy is strong. Not even the guys today can manage the lift off the floor with one arm.

Shows man's potential for strength if we weren't so sedentary.

  • @LingEntityNoobi

First of all, strength to bodyweight decreases with a higher bodyweight. Furthermore, Chuck Ahrens and Paul Anderson both pressed 280-300 lb dumbbells. Maxick and Arthur Saxon both lifted over 100% bodyweight in one hand. It's not impossible.

  • Oh I say,

    Good show old chap!

  • Thomas Inch could lift that dumbbell up until he was 72 years old.

  • Thomas inch was 65 years old when this was filmed and another interesting fact about thomas inch was that when he was 69 he could deadlift 560lbs with 1 arm.

  • HOLY SHOT!, That's was amazing!!!!, I would like to see one bodybuilder trying to lift that dumbell.... That's a real strongman!

  • The press he uses is called the bent press. It was used by strongmen for years. Thomas Inch was one seriously strong man.

  • Comment removed

  • It is real. That dumbell is still around and it has been proven to weigh 172 pounds and 9 ounces.

  • wow

  • Comment removed

  • The guy isn't a fake, he's Thomas Inch. Google him and his thomas inch dumbbell

  • It looks like his hand wraps all the way around the handle. This should not be the case, he apparently had smaller hands.

  • Fake. At least this performance. Thomas Inch was an incredible strongman, but in this vid he almost curls the dumbell to his shoulder. The original inch weighs 172lbs., with a 2.5'' thick handle. Nobody is going to be curling that baby!

  • there were 2 Inch dumbells, the littal cast one you are talking about and this one that was 150lbs unloded and could be over 200lbs with more shot in it,and the way he is lifting it is a lot easyer than it looks,it'a a swing clean, and bent press.

  • Friends that dumbell is still around and few have been able to lift it even today. The actual weight of the bell is 172 and 9 ounces.

  • NICE!

  • Wow. No supplements, cable machines or inch thick denim squat suits. Real Men, Real Strength...This is where I'm going to be, come join us!

  • i want to see pudzianwoski against these guys

  • The thud at the end sounded HEAVY! & real--anybody able to identify this gentleman?

  • Bob Hoffman of York Barbell fame did a legitimate 1-arm clean & bent press with 286 & he had solid witnesses; I don't know who this was or what kind of verification existed--if it's true--most impressive!

  • There were actually several versions Thomas Inch had that he took around the world with him. This is one of the versions. Though it is not the "original", this is one of them.

  • look at the technique!!! damn those were wared days...

  • Thomas Inch real ?

  • i think it weighs about 172 lbs

  • how much does this one weigh?

  • this one weighed A LOT less than 172 lbs.......

Fact is, whenever Inch was asked or even demanded to lift it.......he didn't or he lifted a fake one......raise any eyebrows??

  • amazing!

  • sorry to burst you're bubble, but this man claims to raise clean 82% of his bodyweight with one hand...it's a humanly impossible feat.

Inch was asked several times to lift it on front of REAL strongmen...and he didn't he used fake bells......

  • i wanna be that strong

  • Old School Rules!

Rumor is original Inch is in the possesion of David Prowse..The Saga Continues...
