you have to first understand the laughable method they used to get into Sony pictures and music, then you need to look at the fact ALL user accounts were stored in plain text not encrypted.
Had there been proper security they might not have gotten in, had the user account been encrypted they would not have gotten leaked, two huge barriers there Sony could have had to protect their customers data.
