for your welding, is it better to use TIG, MIG or some other type of welding because I am going to buy a welding machine and on average a TIG welder is cheaper so please tell me which one is better :D
@airsoftguy85rocks MIG is the easiest and pretty strong. TIG is way to hard and takes a long time to get right. ARC is good but isnt good for thin walled metal. Anything below about 1mm will burn through.
your ratio doesn't change with gear size compared to clutch size. it is a ratio between the drive gear and tire. if you change you clutch size it will affect the torque but otherwise its between the tire and drive gear
@gonitronow The GEAR ratio is the ratio between the gears which in this case are the two sprockets. Changing tire size doesnt change the gear ratio it changes the final drive ratio. ex. Say we have a ratio of 5:1 (60t on engine, 12t on wheel) and a 10" wheel, every time the engine turns 5 times it turns the wheel once. If we change the wheel to a 15", every time the engine turns 5 times it still turns the tire once but it puts more strain on the engine diminishing its acceleration.
Can you please let me know where i can buy the type of hub you are showing as I am currently building an electric go kart and i am finding it difficult to find a front hub and sprocket.
@EVCoolCapri Any go kart shop will sell hubs. If u cant get to a go kart shop then bmi karts or mfg supply (google them) will have lots of them you can buy. I bought mine from kart mart in perth. Btw, watched a few of ur videos. Very nice.
I don't think you are going to be able to weld the sprocket holder to the axle shaft because the axle is going to be steel and the sprocket holder is aluminum. You can't weld those two together. Good Luck. Check out my go kart project @ user davi200
never thought of it like that but whatever!! i was planning on building my own go kart(which is way cooler than buying one) but money is low so i will probably buy one
it cost me 70 dollars nz to get shaft made and sprocket key way cut in so it should not coast you much , you said you would go faster than me , well i not think so by what you just said ,,, do you still need the sprockets
how do u mount your wheels

Dude, you played around with the sprocket for like 2 minutes straight and just totally killed my patience! Just hook the damn thing up already! :)

Dude! It burns the clutch and steals acceleration tremendously so no, i will not use a smaller sprocket but thanks for the advice.
