  • this is fine and i did this a couple of times at motorways behind buses, but the problem is, even if the bus in front is perfectly consistent and using cruise control, the required distance is too close for safety. i came to this conclusion by reading curr. consumption values on my o.b computer. i was dangerously close when the number was usefully smaller. the distance shown at the beginning of the vid is far too much, it wouldnt be enough IMHO.

  • I would say that 100 feet distance is fairly safe for drafting, and it should increase fuel eff. by 11% (per mythbusters) 50 feet is 20%. I wonder what it would do for a pick up truck or small RV that has 3 times the drag as a car. not that I want rocks pelting my windshield, but for science, i wonder?

  • oh i have tried drafting behind a bulldozer on a cold day with my scooter, i really enjoyed it as warm air from the radiator behind was hitting me as it was summer:)

  • Too close to the truck, truck driver can't see the driver in wing mirrors and so can not take vehicals behind in account when braking hard.

    Isn't it dangerous filming whilst driving?

  • its dangerious just being on the freeway..

    I was wearing the camera around my neck..

    as for the brakes, I can definatly outstop a semi.. my truck was on cruise and my foot hovers over the brake..

  • Safe driver? I can respect that, there needs to exist the right balance between reckless irresponsible juvenile drivers and very carefull motorist as yourself :)
