  • k one piece of my mind is that MS windows 7 is way ahead of the hardware curve. you know why? its because W7 is based on touchscreen computers. that is why you have to click on everything to open it. if they had an option for choosing to switch between touchscreens or not or even better to detect touch screens and make the *click to open* only if the user has a touchscreen.

  • @dvespa88 Touch screen is actually a poorly thought out feature at this point. The cheapest touch screen costs $360 for a 15 inch 1024x768 LCD and a 19 inch costs at least $540. One can buy a an HD 1920x1080 22 inch screen for $150. The vast majority of people who end up buying/using Windows 7 are very unlikely to use a touch screen even after they've moved on to let's say Windows 9? It's limited to mobile for now at best.

  • well windows 7 is designed for touch screens. thats why you have to click to open on the main menu. and yes touch screens are way to expensive for everyone to have and use. but microsoft still decides to build an operating system around the touchscreen capabilities.

  • You should look for a regedit on that start window click. Sure theres one somewhere out there.

  • @nickpoker Thanks and while I know my way around the registry I've been spending time getting to know Linux better as Microsoft has proven they aren't have no sense of design in regards to usability, customization, etc.

  • @jabcreations Ive tried ubuntu, but i can't stand how when you scroll the screen shutters to readjust instead of smoothly doing it. Do you know how to fix this, or a better distro of linux?

  • @nickpoker That might be a driver problem; honestly ask me in like two or three years when I'll know what I'm talking about in that regard.

A friend said he liked Kubuntu better then Ubuntu and I'm going to try that out. In fact my copy of Ubuntu had it's equivalent to XP's Windows Explorer shell die which put a massive damper on my messing around with it though it was running emulated in VirtualBox.

For now I'm sticking with XP and emulating various distros until I'm find what I need.

  • @jabcreations Well good luck with your OS adventures. Im hot swapping vista and 7. Gaming HD has 7, other stuff vista

  • finnaly an more fair review

all the fanboys are thinking windows 7 is so much better than vista , not worth my money

  • You are using vista I see...

Well vista is windows 7's retarded brother. so you are currently using an OS that is worse then windows 7 yet you are still complaining about how windows 7 works. How about you learn to adapt to something new.

  • Look at my start menu at 0:49. Deduction isn't guessing, it's based on evidence. I am adapting to something new, it's called Linux.

  • I'm just going to say that you are an idiot. If you don't like Windows 7, feel free to continue using an 8 year old OS that is nearing the end of it's life cycle for the 3rd time. It's people like you that keep XP alive past it's designed life cycle.

  • I'm just going to say that I have nearly 600 subscribers and you have only two.

Just because something is new doesn't mean it's improved. 7 is nothing but Vista glorified and I highly doubt you could reply with any viable reasons why I or any one should downgrade from XP to 7 with it's loss of functionality and increased unnecessary steps to achieve even the simplest of tasks. Microsoft tried to reinvent itself with Vista and 7 when it already had a good product.

  • Honestly, I love Windows 7. I game, I do a little basic web design here and there, and I'm an amateur photographer. So here's another thing. Leave your mouse over All Programs and it'll open up after about a second. You don't have to click it, although it's sure faster. This OS is for the 99% of people that don't mind clicking their mouse. As far as the My Documents folder? I prefer a clean desktop with little or no icons, so that doesn't effect me in the slightest. Just my $.02.

  • this is why ive been using windows xp for years and years

  • I think tech support will be familiar with Windows 7 haha....

  • You are so adorable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • windows is going mac

  • people make mistakes man. So what if your start menu is alittle bit bigger. So what if you have to make ' One more click ' in the start menu. and the little black man ? ? Dude it can't be that bad..

i actually though there were REAL problems with the system when i heard you didn't like it. Are there any real problems ? constant blue screen of death ? 10 hour start up time?

  • When I was 16 I was playing video games and I didn't even start messing with websites until I was 18. If you choose a path in life where you must utilize the higher functions of your brain and you desire to do so efficiently even if it's not software you'll begin to realize the things in life that become barriers. An extra click here or there may not seem like much though try writing a few thousands of lines of code. Real life third person perspective isn't as easy as you may think.

  • okay i now understand why its a bad OS for you but think about it. how many people will it really affect? and im sure by the time seven is fully released you would be able to mod it to what you like. i have to say thats windows 7 isn't as bad as what you say, an average user and even an advance user could use the system. you just have to learn how to use it, microsoft can't make them all the same because what would be the point there..

  • I am pretty certain that in the video I showed how you can't mod pretty much anything. The average user already knows certain basic working aspects of XP, MS threw it all out the window. What's the point? The "design" of the OS repelled me, good design adapts to a user's preferences. Good design requires minimal actions to achieve goals. As far as how it'll effect the average user? Simple, arthritis.

  • Mac OS X

  • It burns! Actually I do have a few usability complaints with OS X though Vista and now 7 pretty much eclipsed those issues.

  • that's why I am using ms windows 3.11

    bwahahahaha:D

  • I'm still on XP :P

  • Change your start menu to classic and it should be ok.

  • The option exists in Vista though it no longer exists in Windows 7.

  • great vid brother ive been using 7 ultimate since june i always told people it was great and i think because it was such an improvement over vista the frustration w/vista mADE ME LOVE 7but i see what your saying and do agree its not the best but it is an improvement i just built a monster pc so for me i had a choice buy an os now or pick the version of 7 thats free until 2 010it is very compatible with vista ive yet to find a game or program for vista that wont run on 7 thats a + right?

  • Thanks bro! What is your new rig's specs?

  • when i say monster i really just mean big and for the money fast case coolermaster haf mobo ep45ud3p cpu q9400 oced to4.0 ram corsair dhx pc6400 oced to 900 gpu bfg gts250 1gig oc version psu hx620 not really a monster but for 800 pretty great i think. ive yet to find a game i cant max plys crysis really well cpu cooler is coolermasterv8 but i think i have a stuck sensor the highest core0 gets under an all day prime95 41c oh and i achieved the oc with no voltage increase this mobo is rock solid

  • That's nice that you hit 5 without having to adjust the voltage. That's a pretty sweet rig too btw!

  • thanks bro i was beside myself that it was that easy

  • rofl man 5/5 for im not black

    me niether

prob dirka dirkas not blacks lol

dirka dirkas are the tech support

ive been with xp for evaaaa

  • Thanks bro, yeah XP gets the work done! :-)

  • True!!

  • Glad to finally see a video up about Win 7 John, and was definitely worth the wait.

You picked up some points I never realised about Win 7, and opened my eyes to a few things.

I got to admit, the points you touched upon - FAIL.

The black guy thing annoyed me the most, lawls.

Oh, and by the way, if I'm not mistaken, Mac OSs are designed to work good with the hardware given to it, that's why they cost so much money. Plus you have to admit, from a *QUALITY* perspective - Apple > M/S.

    -Dinumas

  • I posted this a little bit spontaneously though I'm glad you liked it, thanks!

  • hey just thought i would let you know, your name is above you comment........., and alsot theres a thing called periods. and commas,

    so

    you

    dont

    do

    this

  • Dinumas is cool, he was the main reason I posted this btw. Also you should see some of the comments I delete, nothing wrong here really.

  • i agree on the points you said i found the "favorites" confusing myself but i like it better than windows vista and my laptop runs 5x better. i dont use it for "productivity" to actually care how many times i click on start menu and i can live with that as long i get faster loading os and its pretty looking....i know it sounds homo but it looks damn good too :P 5/5 as always

  • True they did improve performance over Vista but then again Vista treats hard drives like a RAM drive (addon card with RAM for insane fast access emulating a hard drive). So when you do things in Vista it has to dump all the stuff you didn't actually use out of the memory and load what you actually want to do afterwards. Thanks bro!

  • it is true that Windows 7 is complicated but the performance you get is like WOW. i still dont get how to even do stuff in it XD cuz im a epic fail.

but the quick launch bar u can fix it to make it like vista type that you will the programs separated instead of like fixed in the "internet tab"

oh and what version is that? i can see it still has the watermark

  • I did the video with the RC.

  • oh, well hmm i think the build 7600 is better than the RC, but i dont remember if they fixed those problems u mention, i had the RC and it was hell i never used it. but somehow i got 7600build working

  • They just don't realize these things need to be fixed, Balmar is running all over screaming developers! developers! developers! developers! Clearly no designers took part in the creation of 7 otherwise these issues wouldn't even have made the initial public beta.

  • you are right bout the design team, windows 7 is so confusing, but ill give it time for the "TEAM" to work on issues. because i see a lot of potential on W7 but not yet reached, kinda like Windows Vista so much potential yet so crappy
