  • @addz444 Well let me put it this way. Robert Palmer was why this song was popular. In the 80's, his music screamed sex. Still does and he shall be missed. :) I hope that helps answer your question. No offense intended.

  • She wants to multi-play... you're gonna need a LAN adapter...

  • this was a great song but this particular version messes up the guitar solo : (

It only gets the 2nd half.

  • "We want to multiply..."

So Classic. Rest in peace Robert Palmer.

  • Love it :)

  • was this song played in any movies? i know it was played on burn notice but I've heard it way before that.

  • @vintagecity13 It was in the movie National Lampoon European Vacation.

  • @vintagecity13 The song appeared in National Lampoon's European Vacation. It played suring the scene where Rusty Griswold fantasizes about being in the nightclub surrounded by girls.

  • @L1701 thanx :)

  • Why is Robert dressed like a virgin. Or nowadays paedophile hahaha. class song.

  • @CraigRattleHead A priest and if Madonna can get away with religious symbols in pop music, why not Robert??

  • I think this is the song that best shows Tony Thompson's impressive drumming skills....he can dazzle a hi hat then cut to poweful tom runs and back....listen especially to how he uses his hi hat, and how the dynamic levels aren't studio wizardry, but him controlling his volume .....didn't know he had passed till today, such a shame

  • They won't like it hot on the East Coast. Shit, the temperature is supposed to be in the low to mid 100's. I'd hate to live there.

  • @MiniPack24 I love the 80s!

...There's got to be a reason VH-1 pulled off 3 whole series loving the 80s!

  • Just love the beat! Forever a hot classic!

  • Tony Thompson one of a kind

  • this is so hot...bought this when it came out and still sounds just as good

  • Saw this song on Burn Notice. Per @DarkSamauriX1999

  • Tony Thompson's drumming owns and claims this song and the Power Station album. He rides his drum kit like a horse.

  • This song takes me back to being in Junior High School during the mid eighties(and "checking out" 7th,8th & 9th grade young teenage girls my age back then).

  • robert palmer,awsome!

  • European Vacation :p

  • reminds me of some guy that had a bumper sticker on his jacked up blacked out pickup truck...seen before the truck...took off i nto light speed. "Save the World. Kill YOurself." lol

  • Woah, sound comes through loud, boomy and clear on my speakers....LOVE the rhythm section yah rock on.

  • Live it; god bless you Robert; RIP

  • Man What a combo, this drummer kicks ass,

  • What makes a good song a great song?

  • I wonder just where this song was recorded at? What studio recorded this?

  • Recorded by the same engineer that brought us Madonna. Recorded at The Power Station in NY.

  • Burn Notice :D

  • Love that tune! The drums are really powerful. That's the drummer from Chic.

  • Rusty the European Tour!

  • hahaha yea thats where I first heard this song.

    Believe it from me !!!!!

  • This is the song for Thermophiles.

  • i go to thrift stores that are full of things from the 80's and this come on alot. haha

  • Awesome song. I always assumed it was cliched song about dancing. Only recently did I actually listen to it and find there was some depth to the lyrics

  • Two of these guys are gone--Robert Palmer AND Tony thompson, he died the same fall as Palmer if I remember right.

  • BURN NOTICE.

  • this tune i wayyyyyyyyyyy better than most of the new crap today...this is 1 that will stand the test of time....

  • Love this video, it takes me back to my sophomore year in college. The only regret is this is the "clean" version.

  • @Want2Laff4U Okay, this is the only version I've ever seen. What is this interesting 'other' version?

  • @magmannus, lol - I got your hopes up for notihing. I went through the videos and realized I was thinking of Power Station's version of Bang a Gong. Sorry about that.

  • burn notice

    this song is hella funny!

  • its on National Lampoons European Vacation also but I started listening to it beacause of burn notice too

  • yupp another burn notice fan here lol i put this song on my myspace profile hahaha

  • This band consists of some of my favorite artists of not just the 80's, but all time. people know john taylor is a bad ass player, but tony thompson killed the skins. those two fit so well in the pocket as a rhythm section. must have been john's influence from chic, cause they fed of each other so well.

  • I'm getting a Friday Night Videos/Hot Tracks Flashback!

  • I looked this song up because of the previews for burn notice. This is the song they play!! Cool song!!

  • hahahaha same here!!

  • Yup me too!

  • I love the 80's. Hey, my youtube channel!

  • She wants ta multiply r u gonna do it!

  • yes THE GIRL IN THIS VIDEO IS A TRANSSEXUAL! SO HAPPY FOR HER!

  • There are also hermaphrodites too. Ppl born with both sex organs. I know a dozen women like that. All fertile too. I myself was born that way, but corrected shortly after birth.

  • Is that Robert Palmer?

  • i was looking for this song since its used in burn notice commecrial

  • Tony Thompson...master at drums...RIP

  • So 80's! I love it and I am telling my age. LOL Love it!

  • such a beautiful white transsexual!

  • Well, nobody's perfect.

  • kind of reminds me of some Oingo Boingo tunes, especially the horns.

  • Unfortunatly....there's no future in growing old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • palmer RIP

  • The Dude was Masterful... The group he brought together was great !! What the hell is the deal with dying young???

  • Yea, it was sad. Heart attack at 54, way too young.

  • Man i did not know Robert Palmer was dead. A dam'n shame because he could really sing. Thanks for the memories Robert. RIP

  • あの当時、ジャケットが私にとっては過激で非常に買いづらかったなぁ。曲は今でも十分いけるね。

  • やるじゃん!!

    さすがはロバート・パーマーだぜ

    やっと時代が追いついていたんだな!!!

  • If you look up cool in the dictionary it says see Robert Palmer, along with Brian Ferry.

  • @creepycooper Right on brother!!!!!!

  • Did they know that was a transexual, the same one in Duran Duran's "Rio"?

  • what exactly is wrong with a chick with a dick ?

  • any live versions from the 1980s?

  • BASS LINE!!! DANG!!! Any one who doesn't think he is one of the best bass players ever is smokin' something funny.

  • Great song. The opening to this video reminds of the opening to one of the early James Bond movies.

  • Naomi0111 powerstation is

john taylor and andy taylor from duran duran Tony Thomson drummer from Chic

    and Robert Palmer

  • I was in the mood for song that immediately turns you on... I'd been watching Gossip Girl, thinking about the 80's... well here I am :D teehee this song is just wicked evil.

  • Tony was also member of Distance the new band Bernard Edwards (of CHIC and who produced Power Station) created in 1987 after CHIC splitted.

Listen to his thunder drumming !

  • Tony Thompson fucked it up! one of the best drummers in music.............

  • Comment removed

  • Tony murdered those drums!!! I didn't know that was Tony playing in "Im coming out" intro. Now that I think of it, that is definitely him. He was a great drummer.

  • this song is awesome. it also reminds me of European vacation with chevy chase. the segment where rusty is fantasizing. lol.

  • Thanks for the info about the drummer - powerful stuff on this song. Roberts stuff around the 'clues' stage is sublime, as is this. Agree about the bass!

  • Classic 80's nice!!!

  • Found this vinyl in the attic the other night, still sounds sweet on a turntable. John Taylor is the man, and RIP Robert and Tony.

  • Still a great song. Love that John Taylor on Bass. RIP Palmer.

  • THIS is still a (pardon the pun) still a VERY HOT song, sexy and fun and exciting, and I LIKE IT!

  • the Taylors are pretty amazing - I went to a Duran Duran concert once because the tickets were free, not expecting much... and they rocked.

While this song sounds dated, RP is as always in fine voice, it is a good representation of 80's stuff.

  • the bass in this song is absolutely incredible

  • John Taylor is the shit..

  • nice solo..who is it

  • Andy Taylor.

  • LOVE Robert Palmer, so sorry he's gone

  • Robert Palmers was great...but did you know that the drummer Tony Tompson ..the most recorded drummer of thae last 25 years had died shortly after Robert. Tony Tompson played for Chic, Madonna, Tony was Led Zepplins choice to copy the late Jon Bonham..Phil Collins picked tony as his drummer on tour...and countless hits ....Tony was one of the most recorded drummers in the music biz. Love his style !

  • You're right !

His name was Tony THOMPSON (with an H). Tony was THE original drummer of CHIC and part of the 5 members of CHIC.

  • Frenchiic....I saw Tony with Chic...at the Allentown Fair back in 79'-80. Bright Yellow ...drum kit....The band i was in played Chic hit's......I was the drummer & still have a style that is shaped like Tony's . My favorite intro that Ton'y played was to Diana Ross.."I'm coming out" to this day I love to play that on stage. Not many drummers can "feel" that. Thank you Tony'.......see you in heaven !

  • this was an awesome vid. makes you think how old your getting, with such a classic.

  • Great Bass John!

  • miss you Rob...easy

  • R.I.P. Robert Palmer

  • When I hear this song, it reminds me of the miniseries "Shakazulu"...the part where the king of the Zulus had invited British Commader Farewll to the celebration..

  • This was my first girlfriend's favourite song back in the day. Good Track!

  • Robert Palmer was the best concert ever held in Seattle at The Pier. Totally unbelievable!

  • I wasn't there but i can believe it!!!

  • This song brings back sooo many childhood memories, I was 9 when this song came out and people still blare this music :) It's real sad that Robert Palmer left us way too young.

  • Just brilliant.

  • How great they were and to think that half of the group left us way too soon!

  • all i have to say is...TONY THOMPSON, NILE RODGERS AND BERNARD EDWARDS....THE CHIC ORGANIZATION...you cant get any better than that....

  • Tony Thompson (November 15, 1954 November 12, 2003, Palmer died a month before him

  • amazing tune from the 80's ... well done mate

  • tony thompson of chic and the power station .he is on bowies lets dance album along with omar hakim on some tracks.

  • This reminds me of Don Johnson and Miami Vise. Anyone member that show? I'm only 30 and I still remember it. Watch out for the croc Elvis! :-)

  • tony thompson on drums boom! is that bernard edwards on bass? it,s got chic stamp all over it.classic!!

  • its actually John Taylor from Duran Duran.

  • i was aware of the duran boys but was,nt sure of bass duties on this track so thanks for the update.and also it being recorded at the power station new york where chic and sister sledge recorded it made me assume it was bernard.tony and bernard and robert all three gone!RIP bet their having a jam up there !

  • @MrTonedeff, that's John Taylor of Duran Duran on bass.

  • @MrTonedeff

Bernard was the one who laid out the original bass track for the song. JT is a huge Chic fan and was thrilled to work with him.

  • @craigbunch yeah i saw a video in a record store in 85' or 86' it was the making of the power station album.in the video i,m sure it was tony who was slapping the bass along with the track and taylor was sitting by him as he played.or it may have been bernard.any way a hot track that kicks ass!!

  • This is not the version where Andy turned it loose with the guitar solo, but the song was a huge hit. The drums were a great part of it.

  • Absolutely!

  • I still want to marry John Taylor. Sigh!

  • you gonna have to fight me for him lol

  • Alright, girlfriend, it's on! LOL ;-D Isnt he just beautiful and sexy still? Dang it!

  • you already know he is he will always be :)
