It still amazes me that the best parts are always the slower soulful guitar parts NOT the fast shred bits. Even here, the parts that he's improvising before the little shred licks sound so musical in comparison to the bumblebee stuff. The fast stuff is good for maybe a little show, but overall it's the slower more meaningful stuff that makes people feel the song.
@ersemola Well, it's a unique model for Master Paul so, nobody will tell you exept Paul himself if you meet him one day. it's pretty sur a Dimarzio but wich one? lol! Super Distortion, Paf Pro...:)
These are no ToneZone´s for sure. The polepieces from this pickups fits (compared to the pickups Paul used to use that time) to PAF Pro and the Super Distortion. Because the tone does not sound like PAF Pro´s at all, i bet these are Super Distortions.
@NowaqP i can tell you something bro, thez are definitly NOT some ToneZone. Watch closely all the plots of the pick ups, then compare with a picture of a ToneZone and you will see :)
@NowaqP thx.. i want to buy new pickups but i dont know wich can be for me, if super distortion, tone zone, tone zone 2, paf pro etc.. could maybe help me in this?
He is so damn good. He can make shred licks look AND sound so effortless that they he can make them sound like they work in pop music. They have all the intensity of a shred lick, but the smoothness and niceness of a something you would hear in a nice pop tune. They almost don't sound as complex as they are.
damnn this is nice!!

Orange PGM seen in this video has Tone-Zone both in bridge and neck positions. Absolutely awesome pick-up.

dmohr7 2 years ago
Well, he is pushing 44 years old... Having said that, he could shave off every strand and still be the most bad-assed guitar god on the planet.
Besides, not having hair doesn't seem to have hurt Satriani much!
