The dialogue in this series is so fucking realistic. Like how Beadie can't find the right word @ 0:48. It happens all the time IRL, especially if you're upset, but you almost never see it on TV or movies. I love it.
@Sgrat : Thank you for your answer but are you sure ? because Beadie take an example with cops when she talks about Jimmy at the beggininig of the video... However, it's a beautiful quote.
Anyway , Do you remember when Dukie asks to Presbo if he cans gives money for his study in season 5 ?
@Sgrat Yes ! and did you know than Dukie was taken money for buy heroin when he asks to Prezbo? I believed him when he say he needs money for his study.
Because it was a shok for me when i saw the ending montage with Dukie make a shot for him
@nalbandian99 Well, actually Prezbo saw it, then it became obvious when Prezbo offered to bring Dukie at BCCC and he took a step back because he was lying, not to mention that he was too young to get a GED, he just wanted some money.
@nalbandian99 Marlo finally become what Stringer always wanted to be, a businessman; but what he really care is his name, he want to be respected and feared on the street, with his name recognized by everybody, as it happened for Omar, Avon Barksdale, Chris.
But when he come back to his corners, the guys there don't even know who he is.
Wow I knew I recognized "Holly" from The Office somewhere, it's fucking Beadie! Wow, 2 completely different characters. Obviously, The Wire > The Office, but still, interesting.
Beadie wasn't ful of shit. She's basically telling him the same thing Lester tried to tell him in season 3. Jimmy was all about the job. But outside of that he had nothing. His sons are closer to their mother. He seems to have no other friends or family. No hobbies. Nothing. Now the job is over. And all his co-workers will move on. And what's Jimmy going to do now? He has something good with Beadie. She loves him. But he fucked it up. Without her he is truly alone. And he has nothing.
Amy Ryan is such a great actress. And well Jimmy, what can be said? Greatest TV character ever. Fucking crime Dominic West never won an Emmy; Fucking crime this show never won any sort of Emmy.
i agree...but really man fuck the emmys...let them give there little trinket trophys to bullshit like gays anatomy or whatever stupid shit they give it to these days...true fans of the wire realize its the best thing to ever happen to the televison set
The end of this scene is fantastic. The decision to have Beadie walk out just as McNulty begins his self-pitying explanation where you sense a sort of soul-searching soliluqoy might be coming on is a superb bit of dramatic staging.
does ne1 know were i can rewatch all seasons of the wire all the site i knwk that ad em r gone or missing the links if u know were epecily the last seasons plz message me
I totally disagree. The newspaper the source of info for anybody on the outside looking in. They have to gather the information from all angles of the city to produce the news. If you don't know what's really going on, then you have to go to the newspaper to get a glimpse of what these characters are really living. Unfortunately, the newspaper has corruption just like the other aspects. The only difference is that the newspaper governs itself. City Hall reports to the journalists.
The people who truly cared about the Sun paper were throwing it in the trash towards the end of the series. To compare to what Beadie was telling McNutty, the job doesn't care about you, only family...and he managed to swander his family away, because he couldn't see past the job & his irrational behavior. So when he "died", he died alone, despite the party. In the end, he's alone & only with that homeless man, because he is now homeless. No job, no family, NO FUTURE.
beadie didnt leave him...she stayed with him....remember the last scene we see beadie in....she and mcnulty sitting on the front steps and she rests her head on his shoulder....granted mcnulty really didnt deserve her because she was a good woman but nonetheless i believe she stuck with him
What I didn't like about the newspaper angle was that it seemed to be presented like "There was a time when newspapers held politicians accountable" but I think that's just David Simon romanticising the past. From what I can see America has been disintegrating for more than the last 50 years because of government and I don't think the papers ever really called out the politicians for what they truly are.
Yeah, I can understand why McNulty did what he did, but I think he should of received jail time, he went too far with the whole fake serial killer story
At first I thought it was foreshadowing McNulty's death... but it turns out to be for Omar. He died alone. Nobody claimed his body. He didn't even get a wake. He had no family or friends. Empty life. McNulty got a second chance. He's lucky Beadie stuck by him.
@ohfabulicious you cant judge a life by the amount of people who show up to your funeral. He had family and friends, a lot of them died. I wouldn't say his life was empty
Who gives a fuck who shows up at my wake, i'll be dead.

@Paralyt1c most people do fear dying alone. not that you aren't right.

Is someone can help me ? When Beadie say " that's all the best of us get. " but who are " us " ? All people or all policeman ? Thank you.
This is my favorite quote from the wire.

@nalbandian99 I can't know what a fictional character meant to say, but that's what I think.
The part when Dukie asks money to Prezbo is in the final episode (10) of the 5th season :)

@nalbandian99 Did you believed him? I think it was pretty obvious that he was lying about that...you must be a very trustful person.
In the ending, Dukie is going to become the new Bubbles, sad thing but life goes like that, too.
Sgrat 11 months ago
@Sgrat Not very trustful because even Prezbo didn't see it....But how you have understood than Dukie was a junkie ?
Yes, i know Dukie is the new Bubbles, Michael the new Omar, Slim Charles new Marlo...

I wish other lesser talented actors in the show would've spent more time with Amy. She fuckin nailed all her parts not overdone at all.

I would have stuck it in Beadie so thoroughly. Look at those sexy arms

Amy Ryan had maybe ten minutes on screen in the whole 5th season, but that's all that a great actress needs to get the job done.

Some of the best "truth telling" ever. Equal to Tennessee Williams, Eugene 0'Neil or William Faulkner. Great acting, great writing.
