  • How do you raise the water level in an hob skimmer..I have an aquaeuro and can't seem to figure it out. This is my first skimmer btw.

  • @SHMIBLY sorry not sure on that model

  • I've got the pump running like yours, only it is noisy....not so much louder now...but still I notice some buzz from the pump....in your video, pump is not making any sound at all it seems like...

    is it silent??

  • Do you have to manual prime all the air out to start this skimmer? I have a BH100F and i have to suck the air out in order to prime it.

  • @hmongthaoboi you hold your thumb over the air line until it primes

  • I just got this skimmer, the pump seems to be making a noise...why is that? impeller not stable possibly....any ideas?

  • @4balls4life did you fill it with water before turning it on? also sometimes when starting it you have to plug/unplug it a few times for it to start correctly

  • Just checking but are you steel happy with the octopus 1000??? It's been about 6 months since you've posted and I'm considering buying one. Just seeing if your steel happy???

  • @MrTravblack yes i wouldn't have it any other way

  • hey kyfishguy i have a ? for u. how long has ur bh1000 been running? and do u still get air bubbles?

  • @chista83 about 5 mos now and no there are no air bubbles - you can see that in one of my other 2 videos I posted for this skimmer.

  • plus i cant get the water level as high as the max water line not sure if i need a sponge in the center of the skimmer below the inlet pipe lol i am new to this bro sorry lol ill check your other vid agani (been watching them for 2 days now) lol

  • i think i am not sure but ill ask you the white suds should be middle of the neck with the cup rasied for dryer skim to get the dark skimmate? as its yellowish with some nasty stuff bits thanks for your help i love the skimmr no problems what so ever & quiet some micro bubbles ill try some filter floss or a longer elbo tube to push uponto the glass like yours for less micro bubbles thanks aganin for your help! you are the only guy on YT explaning & every1 wants this skimmer lol iv got theBH300

  • thanks for the reply i have no chemicals added set it up last night & this morning had a yellowish ice tea colour, took me 20mins to figure out how to set the level as i moved the cups for wet/dry as i need the colour to be as dark as possible but i am pleased how easy & great it works & broken in so fast, i am using another bubble stopper as the blue is to bright for the tank there is micro bubbles ill get a longer elbo tube to add to have it on the glass like yours see if that works for elss

  • excellent, why did you choose hang on and not recirculating or sump design?

  • @ldballoon4 hang on back is so much easier, don't care for having to worry about a sump and all the extra work that goes with it.

  • i made a video describing where I leave my bubbles @ check my videos- you should not have trouble with it overflowing as long as you don't put any chemicals into your tank that would cause it to act out of the ordinary- some chlorine removers can cause this and im sure it doesnt stop there. i use rodi water and add no chems to my water

  • Great Vid ty just a quistion 4 u,ihave the bh300 same as yours just with the extra pump iv no idea how to tune it if the water gets to high to lower it with out switching it off as its been on for 4hrs & its been doing great wtr lvl has not raised so i am trying to get trust in leaving switched on & go to bed thanks

  • @TonyLondonUk ewps meant to reply to you but commented instead

  • just got a tmc vskim400 & is Chit had 2 overloflows & had water everywhere no control iv been told from a few pros from a forum that octopus skimmers are great did you ever get aoverlow or a boost with out you touching it of pure water rathe then bubles ? plz let me know ty

  • @TonyLondonUk Can you trust this skimmer? Im assuming is what you are asking. Yes if you set the bubbles to where I say in my other video you wont have any problems. However not all tanks are the same as in my tank has 0 foreign chems in it. Some chemicals can change the way your skimmer acts for the worse. example: decholorinators I have never had a overflow - I have complete trust in this skimmer

  • @KYfishguy , I'm still having a few issues. Could I take you up on that offer of making a video of this for me?

  • @MidloTurtle I am charging my camera I am going to make a few videos actually including one to help you asap. Keep checking back.

  • @KYfishguy that makes perfect sense. Thanks!

  • I have this skimmer too, but I'm confused on where the bubble level should be in the column in the collection cup. Can you give me any suggestions?

  • @MidloTurtle the underside of the collection cup has sort of a cone shape and goes to a tube - I set my bubbles right where the tube starts - hope this makes sense if not sure ask again ill try to make a video to help you

  • See all of those Micro bubbles pouring into the exhaust pipe? Also the constant noise from the whirlpool? Both can be eliminated if you place the Big Blue sponge that comes with the skimmer in that area like I have done on mine (BH-2000).

  • @acoomer79 honestly after it breaks in I never see any bubbles in the tank - if you face the return tube against the glass it hits the glass and raises to the top before it can get into the tank - good tip though for other users - If you have powerheads facing the exhaust then you will have a problem I'd say your tip would help that

  • Excellent video thanks - One question - this skimmer is perfect as surface skimmer? thanks

  • @discolaria I think the best solution to surface skimming is by setting powerheads to ripple the surface and force those particles back down into the water column so that it can be collected by the skimmer.

  • @KYfishguy Now that you think you have many more reasons than that would be helpful to have a better exchange "gas" with the movement, thanks for your reply.

  • KY fishguy - all updates on this skimmer / I was looking at this skimmer for my 40 Gallon tank.

  • Yea sorry - it doesn't skim the surface - not sure why I thought that but oh well video is already made - be sure to trim off some of the inlet pipe prior to installation so that the guard doesn't sit too low and allow small fish to get in there. I've lost a six line wrasse and a chromis already because I was lazy and left it.

  • how noisy is it? have you ever seen the aquac remora in action? would you compare both?

  • @1chomps sorry not sure - it does make a tiny trickle noise - I think is related to how much water you have in the tank - the lower your water gets the louder it is - it really isn't that bad
